"What?!" Dick shouted "What do you mean, that you didn't tell me because 'it would compromise the mission'?! And you didn't even wait with the funereal?!"
He was mad at Bruce, at The Joker, at the mission, but most of all he was mad at himself. He wasn't there when his brother needed him. He promised to always be there for him, and he wasn't. His younger brother was dead and he didn't even show up at the funereal.
"You were in space." Bruce said "It would have compromised the mission" He continued
"The mission really?! Is that really what you're focused on?! Jason is dead! My fucking brother is dead!"
Bruce scoffed. “You were barely there anyways.”
Dick clenched his jaw. “God Bruce, the only reason I wasn't around was because we kept arguing. You were supposed to be watching him, and you weren’t.”
Bruce turned on him, and Dick had only registered the punch once his neck had turned. “Don’t you dare blame me for his death!” Bruce yelled. "You weren't there!" He shouted "He called you, and you weren't there Dick!" Bruce screamed and hit him again "it's your fault!"
Your fault.
Those words hurt much more than the hits.
They stood in silence for a while.
"Get out." Bruce suddenly ordered "What-" "Get out!" Dick stood there dumbfounded, he argued with Bruce a lot but their fights mostly ended with Dick beaten up or the two not talking to each other for a while. He didn't know what to do. "I suggest you give your keys to Alfred on your way out" Bruce said as he turned around and went deeper into the cave.
Dick stood there for a little longer, but after a moment he was already upstairs and his keys were in Alfred's hands.
"Master Dick." Alfred called "Might I suggest that you take something with you? It's quite cold during winter."
"I'll just take my jacket." He answered "I'll be fine I'm eighteen right?" He didn't know who he was trying to reassure the butler or himself.
And just like that Dick Grayson left the manor once and for all.
During those 7 years he found a job and an apartment in Blüdhaven. He also started going out as Nightwing. He started to get along with Bruce again but it will never be the same ever again. Jason got resurrected but he lost all of his memories including the identity of Nightwing or the first Robin. He still remembered his older brother, Dick Grayson but nothing more about him.
With those years more and more people started to live in the manor, and now Dick had 4 brothers a sister and one not really sister but close enough to consider her a sister.
Life was going pretty good, he didn't have the best relationships with his siblings as Dick but he had pretty damn good ones as Nightwing. He was kinda annoyed that his siblings were trying to discover his identity, and he still tried to avoid Bruce. But all things aside, Dick was pretty happy with how everything was right now. His siblings were looking up to him after all. (Even tho they didn't know it's him)
Little did he know that his life was about to change. And maybe just mayby it's for the better.
