Your father, Bruce Wayne, spoke to Clark Kent about signing you and his son up for patrol. You’ve met him a couple times, he’s quite the happy guy, has a lot going for him. He kinda annoys you but you’ll have to deal with him. He was always cheerful, making others around him smile, that included you, but you would try to hide it around him.
You arrive to the rooftop where you were assigned to patrol. The idiot was late. You ran your hand through your hair, fixing your batgirl suit as you heard footsteps behind you. He approaches you, his arms wrapping around your body, his body transmitting warmth to yours.
“Hey, baby bat! Missed ya!” He hugged you, but you didn’t return the hug. Didn’t wanna get attached, but you ended up letting him keep his grip around you.
“I don’t appreciate PDA.” You simply told him as you let him hug you, but you didn’t hug him back as a frown appeared on his face. His hand went up to pinch your cheek, you smacked his hand away, making him wince.
“Cmon, it’s just a little hug.” He let go and walked over to the edge of the rooftop. He sat down, glancing at the city, admiring the night sky. The breeze had flown past his hair, the moonlight lit up his eyes.
“Come sit.” He muttered as you obliged, taking a seat next to him. You didn’t see yourself patrolling with the son of Superman, since you’re a member of the Bat Family, but you guess this is how it’s gonna go, and you’re gonna have to deal with this dumbass.
The night was quiet, some people walking down the street here and there, you remained vigilant as Jon was more laid back, enjoying the cool air and the view, not very worried about patrolling. He took his hand and lightly played with your hair, brushing through it with his fingers.
“What are you doing, Jon?” You asked, glaring at him.
“I’m just playing with your hair, it’s very pretty, baby bat.” His hands felt nice in your hair, you tried your best to remain focused but you couldn’t help but begin to lean into it.
“Focus on patrol, Jon.” You told him before swatting his hand away, he chuckled before pulling his hand back.
“Alright, alright. No need to be so uptight.” He pats your back before resuming back to patrol. You don’t understand how someone can keep a smile on their face at all times, always so happy, and kind, and sweet…god.
You had always felt a little something towards Jon. Whenever you were around him, you felt your heartbeat quicken. Whenever he would compliment you, or do any sort of kind gesture, it felt like a mixed signal if he liked you romantically or just as a friend. Your feelings for him had been increasing since you met him, and you don’t know how much longer you can hide it.
It was around 10pm, your eyes began to flutter as you felt yourself falling asleep. You tried to remain awake, but you would find yourself drifting to sleep. Jon began to notice this, his arm wrapping around you.
“Baby bat, you falling asleep?” He questioned, poking your cheek. He had poked you a good amount of times before you finally responded.
“No…I’m fine.” You tried to deny it but your eyes closed. “Just resting my eyes.” Your eyes fluttered as you heard laughter from Jon, since he had known that you were probably gonna drift off to sleep any minute.
“Liar…it’s okay you can sleep for a bit. I’ll keep watch.” He smiled as he rubbed your back, his hand warming you up along with the cool wind hitting your skin.
“I can’t sleep sitting up like this..” you admitted, Jon pats his lap, signaling you to lay down.
“Put your head in my lap, cmon baby bat.”
You groaned as you agreed and laid down, your head resting in his lap as he let your hair flow, the air breezing past it as he looked down at you and smiled. That smile of his always did something to you, could never figure out what. You shut your eyes as Jon took his cape and used it as a blanket for you.
“You don’t need to do that, put it back on.” You told him as he shook his head, his cape being laid on top of you.
“No, I want you to be comfy, sleep well, baby bat.” You’ll have to admit, the cape helped you warm up in the slightly cold weather, his hand rested on the side of your head, his thumb rubbing your cheek.
You woke up at least an hour later, Jon still patrolling as he looked down, giving you a bright smile. “You’re awake, baby bat. Sleep well?” He asked, cupping your cheek in his hand. His hand felt nice and soft, warm too. His thumb gently rubbed against the skin of your cheek, your face growing red.
“Slept fine.” You responded, sitting up and handing him his cape back, he put his cape back into position as you sat up, him helping you.
“How much longer do we have?” You asked, he turned to face you.
“About 2 hours. Bored?” He questioned as he chuckled. You nodded, agreeing with his words.
“Yeah kinda, but I need to do my job so..” You said, then he pats your back before pulling you closer beside him.
“Don’t be afraid to have a little fun once in a while.”
Before you knew it, he grabbed you and flew into the night sky, the both of you weren’t going too fast, so then you could see the city from below. “Jon, we’re on patrol!” You exclaimed as he shushed you. His speed picked up, one of his arms extending out as his other arm held onto you.
“Calm down, baby bat. We’ll be back at the rooftop in a little bit.” He responded as he continued to fly past buildings, holding you in his arms. “You alright?” He asked as you simply nodded, gripping onto him. The wind had blown past his hair, along with his cape which was flowing with the breeze.
It’s weird that a member of the Bat family and a member of the Super family are patrolling together, but you must admit; it’s not going too bad. You’re starting to enjoy your time with Jon, but you felt as if you couldn’t get attached to him. Vulnerability is one of the biggest weaknesses human can contain, and you wouldn’t let it get to you.
The view was beautiful from up there, the stars glowing in the sky, the full moon shining, the lights of the city, there were no complaints to be made. You gripped onto his shoulder, attempting to not fall. The two of you flew around Gotham City, enjoying the quiet night.
At least 30 minutes had passed until Jon broke the silence.
“Alright baby bat, we’re heading back. Like the view of the city from here?” He asked.
“Yeah, it’s nice.” You said as you looked him in his eyes, his bright, joyful eyes. You would be lying if you said you weren’t slowly falling for him, but you felt the need to contain yourself; to avoid this feeling.
Jon flew back to the rooftop you and him were assigned to as he set you back down on your feet, you sat down on the edge once more as he took a seat beside you, his hair was slightly messy from all the flying, and so was yours. You fixed his hair by brushing through it with your fingers, as he gave you a warm smile, he leaned into your touch as you almost gave him a smile back, unable to hide your emotions much longer.
The reason you had fell for him was hard to comprehend, or even understand. The smile he would give others, his joyful personality, he was the light in your darkness, the light you needed.
Ever since you had met him, you felt like you couldn’t imagine a life without that light, the light that was also known as Jon Kent, the light that you needed to feel whole. And maybe, he will feel the same.
“Thanks for the flight, Jon.” You said as he chuckled, he took your hand into his as he squeezed it gently.
“Anything for my baby bat.”
