Summary
He'd never wanted to see Mystra again. He'd promised he would never purposefully seek her company again; he'd sworn it on his life. Even more sacred, he'd sworn it to Tav.

After the events of the Illithid Crisis, Professor Gale Dekarios lives with his spouse, Tav, in Waterdeep. He relishes every quiet moment in his settled life as a teacher, and all is well... Until Mystra invites herself back into his life through one of his young students and old memories threaten to overwhelm him.
The story swaps back and forth between flashbacks of Gale's upbringing and current events to show us how he became who he is and how it affects his reactions to his current predicament.
