Vickie’s POV
Robin invited me to Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington’s end of year party. I’m still shocked that him and Robin are friends, he seems a lot less assholey since he left high school. I know they worked together at scoops and have some crazy trauma bond over the mall fire that happened. I’ve met him a few times, and i’m honestly glad Robin has a friend who looks out for her. I think he knows we are dating, I noticed before we even went out, he would always look at us with a shit eating grin. I am taken out of my thoughts as I hear the phone ringing, my parents and siblings aren’t home, they are on a “business trip” by that they are spending all their money, and mine, on a stupid holiday that they try and disguise as for future connections. It doesn’t help that they can’t get back because of the quarantine, they use it as an excuse for staying on holiday longer, I can’t count the number of times i’ve gotten a call saying “Vickie please send us more money, we ran out and can’t find work here!”
I walk to the kitchen and pick up the phone “Hello?”
“Hi, baby.” Robins voice echos through the phone. “Hi! How are you?” My tone instantly softened, even her voice is enough to make me melt. “I’m good, um… Can you come over before the party, I need help with my makeup.” I smile as an image of Robin looking at a bunch of the makeup products she’s collected over the years with a confused face. “I’ll be over in 20. I love you.” “I love you too.”
I smile as I place the phone back getting lost in thought for another moment before I realise… Shit I have 5 minutes to finish getting ready before I need to drive to Steve’s house! (They live together since Robins family left before Hawkins got quarantined and Steve wouldn’t let her live alone).
After i’m ready I get in my car and drive to Steve’s. I take a deep breath as I walk up to the door, having the same spiral of wondering if i’m actually at the right house even though i’ve been here countless times, i’m walking down the path as the door opens, Robin is standing in the doorway with a big grin, I smile back and we both go inside and I help her with her makeup.
