Work Text:

Bumblebee couldn't see colors.

His world had been black and white since creation. Everyone has, until you touch your sparkmate for the very first time. Bee’s never found his yet. It didn't really make sense to him. Why would your ability to see colors depend on if you've found your special someone. A mystery that only Primus knows the answer to.

Bee thought about it on the way to work. He walked through crowds today. There was some festival going on somewhere, so it was extra busy. It'll go all day, maybe he could stop by after work.

Suddenly, he bumped into someone while he wasn't paying attention. He turned around to apologize.

“I'm sorry-”

His voice box stopped working when his optics landed on a beautiful mech. And a color he's never seen before. His processor scanned it, the color was called ‘blue’.

Bee's optics were wide and so were the other mechs. They had both found each other's sparkmate. It scared him.

“I'm sorry.”

He apologized again before turning and running off.

“Wait!”

The other mech shouted frantically, but Bee lost him in the crowd.

He felt bad for the other mech, he really did. But Bee just wasn't ready. The thought of being with someone he didn’t even know, it scared him. Maybe it was possible for them to get to know each other? Who knows. For now, Bee was just worried about getting to work for now.

-------------------------------------------------------------

After a long several hours, Bee was finally off work. It was nice to feel a fresh breeze and be able to relax during it. There was still time for the festival, so he walked to it down in the middle of Iacon.

When he got there, it was the most bots he'd ever seen in one place in his life. There were bots playing music, selling things at little shops, it was a typical festival. What really stood out to him was how he could see the colors of all the bots.

His processor drifted to the thought of that blue mech. Bee really did feel bad. He basically dipped out on who was supposedly supposed to be his sparkmate. He thought it over again, would it really be so bad?

Maybe they could get to know each other…

“It's you.”

A deep but surprisingly soft voice said.

Bee turned around, facing his sparkmate.

“Oh…hi.”

He said nervously.

“Listen…I'm sorry for earlier. I got scared and-”

He was interrupted by a kiss. The blue mech kissed him.

Once the mech pulled away, he looked embarrassed and nervous.

“Sorry…I just…I was scared too. Maybe not run away scared.”

The blue mech chuckled a little.

He continued, smiling.

“But I was definitely nervous too. But you seem like a nice mech. I want to give this a chance, if that's okay with you.”

Bee smiled.

“Yeah. I want that too. By the way, my name’s Bumblebee. But most just call me Bee.”

“Alright then, Bee. The name's Breakdown.”

He smiled too.

“Hope you don't mind if I call you Breaks or Breaky.”

Bee chuckled.

“I'm fine with that.”
