Work Text:
There was a blizzard outside.
Everyone was huddled up in the dugout trying to stay warm after the power went out. The Malto's were stuck at either work or school. Nightshade was trying to work on another power source, but it was hard when they were freezing and shivering.
Breakdown spoke up.
“Come here kid, there's no point.”
“At least they were trying.”
Bee argued.
“Yeah but I don't see how they can do it when they're shaking like a leaf. The Terrans run on cave water, and we run on warm energon. They're likely to freeze faster than us.”
“W-What?!”
Jawbreaker shouted in fear.
Bee glared at Breakdown.
“Great going.”
“Sorry.”
Bee then shouted out to all the Terrans.
“Come on guys, come huddle with us. You'll be warmer.”
Twitch quickly flew over to the two mechs, curling up against Bee’s chassis. Nightshade sort of hobbled over, laying down in between Bee and Breakdown, next to Twitch. Thrash walked over, laying against Breakdown’s chassis, on the other side by Nightshade. Hashtag laid against Bee, holding onto him. Jawbreaker laid down next to Breakdown, burying his face under the cons arm.
“It'll be okay kids…you won't freeze under our watch.”
Breakdown comforted.
“It's so cold…”
Twitch said sadly, curling up even tighter against Bee's chassis.
Nightshade and Thrash hugged each other as they huddled for warmth. Hashtag hugged Bee from behind as she tried huddling for warmth. Jawbreaker was shy but he snuggled against Breakdown’s back.
The racers felt bad for the Terrans, they really did. Like Breakdown said, they run off of mostly cave water, which wasn't as warm as energon.
“Are you guys feeling any warmer yet?”
Bee asked the Terrans.
“Kinda…”
Thrash said.
“A little…?”
Hashtag guessed.
Jawbreaker nodded his helm a bit. Bee looked at the two Terrans who didn't answer, Twitch and Nightshade, and realized that they had fallen asleep. Bee raised his servo and held Twitch close. He smiled at her. Thrash cuddled his sleeping sibling.
Breakdown felt a finger poke at him a couple times.
“What's up kid?”
“Can I hug you…?”
Jawbreaker asked.
“Of course.”
Breakdown was laying a little on his side, facing Thrash, Nightshade, Twitch, and Bee. He slowly and carefully rolled over to where he was laying flat on his back, wrapping an arm around Jawbreaker and letting the Terran hug him.
“Ya'know…It's been a really long time since I've done this.”
“Done what?”
Thrash asked.
“Cuddled with family. On cold days like this during the war, the Stunticons would huddle up for warmth just like this.”
A tear rolled down Breakdown’s cheek.
“I miss that.”
“We're…sorry for your loss.”
Jawbreaker said quietly.
“It's okay kid.”
“The rest of you should sleep too. Great way to pass the time until the blizzard calms down and the power comes back on.”
Bee suggested.
“I can hardly sleep without music…”
Hashtag quietly whined.
Bee thought of a solution that could help her. He didn't do this often, only saving it for special occasions. With a soft voice, he started singing quietly.
“I need you here…I need you here. And if ever there’s some place that I've got to be, then I need you here with me.”
Hashtag looked up at him with a soft smile.
“Bee, you don't have to…”
Bee continued singing, looking her right in the optics.
“There is no other place in this world that I'd rather be. If I can't be at home then I'll send my apologies. Can't you stay right here pretty please? I need you here. I need you here. I need you here. And if ever there’s some place that I've got to be, then I need you here with me.”
Bee looked over at Hashtag again, realizing that she had fallen asleep. He continued singing for a bit longer just in case.
“Where do you go, when you're not home? I won't be long, ‘til you are grown. I love you so. I love you, too. So I'll stay right here with you.”
When Bee looked towards Thrash, he noticed the motorbike sleeping as well. Breakdown looked down at Jawbreaker, seeing the dinobot asleep as well. The con chuckled softly.
“Looks like your singing put them all to sleep.”
“I'm glad. They needed the rest and to sleep the blizzard away.”
“I'm glad that I was here with you and your family.”
Bee smiled.
“Me too.”
