Work Text:
In the middle of the night, I awoke to the sound of a voice coming from the baby monitor in my one year old son's room
It was a calm voice comforting my little wolf boy
I was probably hearing things again, as I tend to after long lasting missions. So I payed no attention to it.
I got back under the sheets, gently caressing my ten year old daughter's cheek, who finally managed to sleep after having a nightmare of a creature with multiple wings and eyes.
Every once in a while, she kept having the same dream of a dark shadowy creature entering her room, sitting on her bed and singing her a lullaby
This occured so often, it became a routine of mine to let her sleep with me
I closed my eyes and as I was starting to doze off I heard the front door click open, the same voice i heard before slowly fading out
This was no dream. I wasn't hallucinating the shadowy figure walking away from the front porch
I jumped out of bed, grabbed my coat and my claymore and rushed to my son's rescue
I opened the door only to find my wife sleepwalking, my little boy cradled in her arms fast asleep
I smiled. I forgot how she tends to to that whenever she's really tired, whenever she visits us
As an angel, it is her duty to guide innocent souls to their destinations, resulting to her missing a lot from our childrens growth
She's never really home, so I kind of forgot what horrifying creatures angels are
But she...
No...
She's beautiful
