Search for Happiness by Becoming One for You

Summary:

In the modern world, Senku and Gen lived their lives as the Generals of the Kingdom of Science, essentially the heads of the country. Life was always busy, but they found happiness in their home. One day, they helped a six-year-old boy with split black-and-white hair named Sakura. Their home only become livelier since then.
But parenting never an easy task, especially when they have such a demanding job.

Rated T for swearing, makeout, and mention of violence. But mostly fluff and them being domestic. Each chapter is around 5K word

Continuation of “Unintentionally Marrying You”. But you can read it as a standalone.

Chapter 1: First Encounter And Yet You’ve Already Made Us Happy

Notes:

SKIP THIS chapter IF YOU HAVE read the first fict, “Unintentionally Marrying You”. This gonna be literally the same part where Sakura mentioned.

If you haven’t, please enjoy! The transition would feel janky because I deleted some parts that do not contain Sakura.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Senku and Gen as Generals, intended to inspecting other Generals projects, which is Amusement park that Ryusui had make. It’s their job as the heads of the country, Kingdom of Science, to maintain understanding each General’s projects.

They had already bring back education with the curriculum. In it, include their story reviving civilization. So, that’s why the museum in the amusement park was build.

The museum consists of rooms that are connected, linking like a progressing story. The first stage was a brief explanation of what happened in 2019, the petrification, including some of the satellite pictures before and after. It give sense that humanity lost so much in just a blink.

Then, the section of Senku waking up. 1st April 5738. The picture of the tree is there. The real tree is still in its place and has become an attraction too. It had been noted that Senku was counting the whole time. It sounds crazy if it’s put that way, but he did it.

Senku appreciates that in the note he by strategic try to wake up at spring. Around the illustration, there are a bunch of kids reading and watching in awe. Some of them are bickering about how it’s impossible to count that many numbers. Some asking is that large numbers even exist.

“It’s not weird for me to immediately had fond on you the moment I see the tree. Look at those kids. It’s not that cringe, right, Senku-chan?” Gen teased.

“Probably.” Senku didn’t completely register Gen’s comment as his mind goes different way. He was alone for six months back then. It’s interesting to explore and do everything in stone age style. But the loneliness is actually maddening.

He didn't know exactly if Taiju would be depetrified or not. He didn't know if he could survive unhurt. He didn't know if his hypothesis about the revival fluid was true. He didn’t know the impact when he used it on broken swallows.

He hates to admit it, but there is a chance that he had PTSD from it. He hates being completely alone now. That contradicts with him before petrification that he preferred to be alone.

Senku feels a hand intertwined with his. When he looks it up, there’s Gen with a soft smile. The sight caught his breath for a moment. The lighting hits him at all the right angles. His eyes were sparkling. There’s a little blush on. Since when does Gen look so… beautiful?

“You’re not alone, Senku-chan. Not anymore, not ever.” Gen declared. The adorness sounds prominent.

“Having fun peaking into my brain, Mentalist?” Senku amused.

“If it makes you easier to be understood, then yes,” Gen said easily.

“Then you would never retire from your mentalist job.”

“Didn’t plan to.” The smile never leaves.

In the same room, there are stuff that Senku made in the early years. There’s the picture of the tree house and the remaining stoned swallow that he collected.

“I didn’t remember giving them the stuff.”

“Oh, it was me,” Gen commented easily.

“Huh?” Senku kind of lost.

“I did some research on you first before I did my mission. So I sort of gathered all of it in one place.”

“I didn't know that.”

“Seems like there are a lot of things you don't know about me, Senku-chan.” Gen teased.

“Not fair, that you know me a little too much.” Senku pouting toward Gen.

“I don't mind.” Gen chime.

“Well, I am.” The statement only got a giggle from the other.

The museum explains the situation with Tsukasa rather mildly. It is still talking about his ideology at that time, and how it goes. But the things he did, as he had killed him, weren't mentioned. It is a tricky matter because Tsukasa is the head of security and military in today's years.

The museum use their duality and makes the presentation in the same room but on different sides. So it could be seen what happened between the two side in the same time.

“Look, Senku-chan! ‘Without the village knowing, he will open up the door to the greatest future ahead’.” Gen ridiculed.

“What the fuck? Ryusui describes me here like some kind of messiah.” Senku is displeased, while the other only laughing.

“The guy looks up to you, y’know.” Senku doesn't know how to react to the information, so he gets embarrassed with a cringing face.

The next room has more detailed information about the empire of the might and its early invention in Ishigami village. Senku is intrigued about what happened when he was in the village. Senku is apart from Gen, wandering around. He never had the chance or the interest to ask before, so he’s never known the details.

The description tells that the situation in the empire might not be as barbaric as what Gen said the first time they met. There is no harem or something like that. Or maybe it gets milder than it actually is. Senku needs to fact-check with Gen.

When he turned around, Gen wasn't in the room. That makes Senku a bit more self-conscious than he likes to admit. He searched for him, spotted him in the next room, sitting down on the backless bench.

What’s a bit unusual was that he was talking to a boy that has black and white colored hair, half and half, as Gen has. So, Senku approaches Gen from behind, not wanting to disturb them.

“He’s a freak, that’s what he is!” The Kid snapped at Gen's illustration on the wall. The sounds could be heard across the room as Senku walked comfortably toward them. It is about his betrayal of the empire of might. While the real person is sitting behind him with his cap on. That’s probably why he didn’t realise.

“Oh? How so?” Gen questions as he’s listening calmly.

“Look at the hair! Weird split hair! Probably because of that, he’s a bad person.”

“Hmmm… he’s doing weird things because he has weird hair?” There’s a hint of amusement in his voice.

“Uhm!” But the kid didn’t realise the ridicule and took it seriously. “He’s unlucky to have those. Only awful people have those. Here it says he got it after all this happened. That means he was chosen to be a bad person.” The kid explained with disgust.

“Why did you think that?” Gen asks with concern, realising the matter is more serious than he thinks.

“That’s what people said. Fate must be hating them. They deserve to be with the statue. All because this ugly white hair and yellow eye curses.” Said the kid solemnly. Now it’s clear that he’s not hating Gen.

“Curse is a strong word for something that hasn’t yet been explained with science.” Senku chimed in as he arrived on the kid’s side.

“Wha-?” The kid is looking up at Senku. A shocked face could be seen on him in the peripheral view as Senku looked at Gen.

“Gen! I was looking for you. Why don't you tell me if you gonna continue to the next room?” He’s not particularly angry, but it still would be nice if he got informed.

“Orry-say, Senku-chan, I was distracted.” Gen smiled with a guilty face. In the meantime, the kid looks horrified as he takes glances back to back toward Gen and Senku, realising who they are.

“Alright, there’s no easy escape for you.” Senku catches the kid on his shoulders as he tries to run away.

“Let me go!” He yelled.

“Not until you appologize” Senku turns the kid’s body, so he’s facing Gen.

“What am I apologizingI apologizing for?! His misfortune is not my responsibility.” The kid yelled even more toward Senku, while he only lifted his eyebrow, not affected by the attitude.

“It’s okay, Senku-chan.” Gen reaches the kid’s hand, leads him to sit beside him. Gen’s gaze toward the kid is so tender, full of adoration. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Asagiri Gen. What’s your name?”

“Sakura Haruka.” Sakura mumbled as he avoided eye contact with Gen.

“Awww what a cute name! Nice to meet you, Sakura-chan!” Gen cheered while patting Sakura’s head.

“It’s not cute.” Sakura blushed, still watching the ground.

“You know, Sakura-chan, I don’t believe that our hair brings us misfortune.”

“But that’s true! After I had this, Mom and dad become distance, they had a lot of fights.” Sakura gripped the bench and frowned in frustration. “Then my grade fell. Then a lot of things happened to my friends. They said it’s because I'm always there, they said I’m the source. So they left me.” Sakura could visibly grit his teeth, but his eyes clearly showed sadness. “No matter what I did, they– they look at me like that.”

“Like what?” The petting and soft voice never stop.

“Like– like I’m a pest. Forget it, it’s dumb.” Sakura sigh defeated.

“It’s not dumb. It’s completely normal to feel frustrated about the situation. No one deserved to be bullied. Including you.”

Senku had bullied before. It’s annoying. But never infuriating. Well, probably because he’s too focused on his projects, and he can just literally blast them. It's an easy deal for him. By that, Senku decides it’s best to leave it to the Mentalist.

“But I deserved! They got hurt because I was there. If I’m not there, it would be better. It- It would be better if I’m de–” Sakura stammered. Senku concern to how this is going, and definitely Gen too.

“Sshhh, you’re not allowed to talk anymore.” Gen insisted as he tugged Sakura closer, getting his attention. “No child thinking about dying under my watch. You deserve to live. I don’t care what other people say. They’re the ones who are bad people.” Sakura watches Gen with wide eyes, innocently, almost like he just heard it for the first time ever.

“Those people are the most selfish. They would blame anything but themself about their bad situation.” Gen stated. Sakura only frowning with the statement. “Nothing in this matter is your fault,” Gen reassured while stroking both of Sakura’s cheeks lovingly.

“But…”

“How about this, you think we would have the same misfortune, right?” There’s a nod from Sakura. “Then let me tell you how unfortunate I am, so you would know what will happen to you.” Said Gen confidently.

Before Sakura could complain, Gen had tried to lift Sakura by his arms. Knowing Gen would struggle, Senku supported Sakura from behind. Gen put Sakura on his hip, making them at the same eye level.

“I can walk,” Sakura complained, but not resisting as he held on to Gen’s shoulder.

“And I can pamper you whatever I want.” Gen sang.

“You shouldn't have to.”

“I want to.”

They walk to the next room, where it displays what happened after Gen’s betrayal. There’s the magma situation. It has an illustration of an injured Gen. It was described how prepared Gen is with the fake blood and all. Sakura’s expression became sour.

“You were hurt.” Worried really clear in Sakura’s reaction.

“Uh-huh, but look, I got healed by my friends afterward.” Gen’s finger points out the next illustrator, who is where Senku is patching Gen up. There are the ingredients Senku used as an antibiotic and other remedies.

They continue the walk. Next is Hyoga’s attack on the village.

“They attack the village?!” Sakura shrieked.

“And here I successfully protected them with my friends too,” Gen explained. There is an illustration where Hyoga’s spear broke because of Senku’s little katana, which is executed by two-faced Gen.

Then there is Christmas Day. There’s a Christmas tree in the room with the same kind of lamp that decorates it. There’s also an illustrator of the villager, Gen, and Senku looking up at the tree.

“It’s beautiful.” Sakura mesmerized.

“Right! And look at here, who’s there with everyone?” Gen chirped.

“You were there.” Sakura sighs.

“Yup!”

Then they walked again. Sakura’s face became more lively. They see the miniature of the observatory, some of the photos of it, and an illustration of it. Senku remembers it clearly. Byakuya’s death hit him harder than he makes it look. Things still need to be progressed, so he decided to just focus forward.

“Can you see what I done there?” Gen asked fondly toward Sakura.

“You make the observatory with the villager?” Sakura’s gaze stuck on the illustration.

“M-hm! Look how many friends I have there! We made it together. Do you still think we have misfortune?”

Sakura became speechless. He can only grab Gen’s sweater, uncertain.

“If you haven't convinced yet,” Senku focuses his attention on the miniature. “It’s not only that he got friends on his side, but he’s also saved me with the observatory.”

He doesn't really feel comfortable talking about it, but he knows that Sakura needed to know. “I could properly think about all the good things about Dad, Byakuya, rather than focus on the news of his death. I think it’s a blessing.” Senku whispered.

“Do you think I can bring blessings to people, too?” Sakura faltered. Hearing hope in it, Senku faces the kid.

“Kukuku, as long as you keep the effort and spirit to care for people who care about you,” Senku smirked confidently while ruffling Sakura’s hair. “Can you do that?”

“I’ll try.” There’s hesitation in it.

“Good enough.” Senku let out a huft of amusement,

They keep walking throughout every part of the museum. Unfortunately, they cannot stay too long at each event as the outside has become darker.

Sakura’s sour expression had long gone, but there wasn't a laugh or smile. Probably the boy himself is not used to having it. Either way, Sakura looks less tense, and that’s a good thing.

At the end of the museum, there’s a big picture of the entire KOS in front of the rocket, Senku 11. An hour before take off.

“You have a lot of friends.” Sakura sighed.

“I would say they are also my family.” Gen smiles toward Sakura. “So that’s my misfortune. What do you think? Is it worth it to have this misfortune?” The smile changed to a smirk.

“It’s not a misfortune. I want it too.”

“Then promise me that you would keep living, searching for your own friends and family.” Gen gives Sakura his pinky.

“Promise.” Sakura takes the pinky promise. He’s not smiling, but Senku understands enough by his glimmering eyes that he feels better.

They ended the museum tour. And Gen put Sakura down, but still, hand-to-hand, Gen swings cheerfully. Gen and Sakura had walked ahead.

Senku is approached by one of the security guards, informed him that Sakura’s mother is already at the exit gate, knowing Sakura’s position. Senku thanks the guard before going to Gen, whispering about the situation while petting Sakura’s head.

At the exit gate, Sakura finally meets with his mother, who thanks them. Sakura plead his mother to say goodbye before he approached Senku and Gen.

“Thank you.” Sakura bowed.

“You're welcome.” Gen beamed while Senku nodded.

“The- the bullies in my school said my hair’s ugly.” Sakura stammered while staring at the ground.

“Whatever the bullies said is not true. Don't be belittled by it. You had hair like one of the Generals! Aren’t they cool?” Gen knelt to lift Sakura’s head by the chin, then flexed his white bang. “How about this, you can call me every time their words are too much for you to hear. And I will deal with it.” Gen slipped a card number of his into Sakura’s pocket. Sakura nodded at that.

“Do you think our hair is ugly?” Sakura’s eye diverted toward Senku. Senku automatically laid his eyes on Gen’s shining white.

“I think it’s the most beautiful color for hair.” Senku fiddling with Gen’s bang while he let his lips stretch into a smile. Then pet it and put some of it behind Gen’s ear, while Gen’s smile blooms toward Sakura. Sakura suddenly blushed furiously with a pouty mouth, diverting his attention to somewhere else.

“Are there things that I had to know about this? Is there any health drawback?” Sakura’s mother asked Senku.

“It’s an extremely rare case, so there wasn’t a lot of research about it. We hypothesize that the scarring also happen in DNA level, altering the code of the hair or, in Sakura’s case, eyes color too.” Explained Senku, matter-of-factly.

“Isn’t that dangerous?”

“Well, our only subject doesn’t lack anything compared to life before petrification.”

“I’m here, you know,” Gen whined as he stood up, changing his expression to his default smile. “Yes, I’m perfectly healthy, Sakura-san, don’t worry about it.”

“Medusa at it’s based is a healing tool. But if unusual things are happening to his health, you can contact my department.”

After Sakura’s mom and Senku sign the document about Sakura's missing situation, they take apart. To go back home, this turn, Gen’s the one who's gonna drive, while as a passenger princess, Senku dozed off to sleep.

Their house was in the cluster of the Kingdom of Science’s main buildings. So there is enough security for them. It’s essentially still a public place. Some of the official is lived in the same apartment, and some that had family also have their own house.

Senku and Gen have lived together since forever, and it’s not changing anytime soon. They are not feeling to put more effort into thinking about moving out or adapting to a new house.

The land was a former ‘chief’ hut that he lived in with Gen as a roommate. At that time, they didn't bother to make a hut for each person because of the lack of resources. Now they had made an apartment for each personnel.

A few minutes later, Senku got a massage from Yuzuriha. She, with her husband, Taiju, wanting to visit, knowing Gen was back. Of course, her being considerate, planned to bring dinner as she’s cooking at the moment. So, Senku informed that they are available before deciding to take a bath.

After they take a bath, they intended to drying their hair. It’s been their habit to help dry each other.

They position themself in the living room. Gen sits on the floor, and Senku sits on the sofa behind him. Just when Senku wants to start, there is a knock on the door.

“I’ll get it.” Before Gen got up, Senku had started walking towards the door. Gen could be heard turning on the tv.

“Senku!!” Taiju beamed as he opened his arm.

“I just got out of the shower, no hug.” Senku lifts both of his hands to dodge.

“Then pat on the back.” Taiju still maintains his smile, patting Senku’s back.

“Is Gen inside?” His wife, Yuzuriha, is carrying their two-year-old son, Daichi, on her arm. The boy looks sleepy.

“Yup.” Senku points Gen with his thumb, while Yuzuriha already goes in. “You know, you don’t have to come. Poor Daichi got his sleep disturbed.” Senku smirked at the Dad in the room.

“Yuzu-chan!” Gen waved his hand.

“It’s okay, he loves to be carried around rather than sleeping alone. And I mean by his uncle, too.” Taiju is all smiling.

“Ugh, you know I can’t handling baby, I can’t even carrying properly.” They walked into the house.

“Nah, you're good enough. Give yourself credit, Senku!” Taiju pat Senku’s back a bit too hard.

After greeting, Yuzuriha and Taiju used the kitchen to prepare the food. More like Yuzuriha did while Taiju was carrying Daichi. In the meantime, Senku started to blow-dry Gen’s hair. They had doing it several times and kinda stuck with it because of how convenient it is.

The tv infront of them is about the news in the Kingdom. This reminds him of Gen’s double carrier. Finally, he can try to ask without interruption.

“You should opened the internship at your department.” Senku opened a conversation.

“Hm?” There is a pause. “I didn't have time to teach them yet, Senku-chan.” Gen waved off the advice.

“Do you want to retire and focus on your entertainer?” Senku blew Gen’s black part while lightly scratching the scalp so the air would dry on the scalp. “I understand you loved it more. It was your passion anyway,” Senku said softly enough to be heard.

“Nope, I think I love where I am now more.” Gen visibly closes his eyes, enjoying the care.

“You sure? We’re not gonna be angry, you’ve done your main job anyway. We can point someone else to continue what you had made.” There’s worry in his chest, but it didn’t show in his voice. This time, Senku is drying the white bang of Gen's hair.

“Do you want to get rid of me, Senku-chan?” Gen half teased half taunting.

Senku puffed in amusement. “No way, not intentionally, you’re too skillful an asset.”

“Then I'm not gonna retire.”

“You know that’s not what I mean.”

“Still not changing mind.”

Senku let out a big sigh. Fine if the Mentalist wants a bolder statement, Senku would give him, “You look exhausted.” His voice was a few octaves lower than he intended.

“The house is too quiet, and you have too many negative thoughts.” Senku continues the middle of Gen’s hair, where the colors meet. “If it's because you overwork, I would gladly sign your retirement.” He knows that he is making a face at the moment.

“I’m not gonna stop until you stop, Senku-chan, as simple as that,” Gen stated easily.

“It’s impossible for me. At least until I’m 70. Heck, Kaseki is still going until he’s 80!”

Gen huft in amusement. “I know, that’s exactly why.”

“Stubborn.”

“I think you need a mirror.”

“Yeah, we're both stubborn.” Senku turned off the blow dryer and reached out to take the lavender oil that Gen loved so much.

“Every general is stubborn as fuck.”

“Agree.” Senku poured the oil on his hand and dragged his hand from the front of his hair to the back. Their eyes met as Gen looked up. “So, no retirement?” To be honest, Senku is still hopeful for Gen to retire. He kinda wanting him to just stay.

“Nope.” Gen smiles softly. A droplet from Senku’s wet hair lands on the edge of Gen's eyes. Senku had to wipe it off with his back hand, dragging it to Gen’s cheek. It’s soft. He’s continuing to trace Gen’s lower scalp, letting the head droop.

“Then promise me to recruit more people to assist you.”

“Umhm”

“And you have to let them help you.”

“Okay, I promise, Senku-chan.”

“Good. And, it’s done!” Senku ruffles Gen’s hair and lets himself nuzzle his nose toward Gen's hair. It got a giggling response from the other. “Hmmm, it smells good.” Senku, all stupidly smiling, enjoying the soft, flowery sense on his face.

“Stop it, you’ll make it wet again.” Gen playfully warned, giggling.

“Alright, alright.” Senku nuzzles a bit more before tidying Gen’s hair up.

“Now’s my turn.” They switch positions.

Senku decides to relax by the couch’s leg. Yuzuriha and Taiju have joined them on the other side of their L couch. Gen have chat with Yuzuriha about the latest fashion and other girly thing Senku doesn't really understand.

But what Senku understands is that the warm air on his hair, the soft massage on his scalp, and the soft voice on top of him have successfully lulled him to the point that his head is leaning on Gen’s side thigh.

“Ah! Senku-chan, keep your head up, I need to blow-dry that part.” Gen complained.

“Um.” Senku only put his head on Gen's other thigh, as he doesn’t want to leave the comfortable feeling. Senku had usually slept on Gen’s thigh back in the Stone Age.

“You scolded me because of overwork, but you did too! How many days you not slept properly? You haven’t answered that.” Gen nagged.

“It’s only two days,” Senku mumbled.

“It’s not good for your health, Senku-chan.” Gen turned off the hairdryer. The next thing Senku knows is that Gen is massaging his scalp with the lavender oil. He knows well that Gen’s hand is so skilled. Kaseki wouldn't need his help if he didn't.

“Hahhh, mmmm.” Senku let himself relax.

“Oh, now you’re okay with the massage?”

“It’s different than before, Mentalist.”

“Hmmm, sure sure.” Senku can feel Gen's hand trail back on his nape and shoulder. It gives Senku a slight goosebumb but at least it’s not as bad as before. Until it is.

“Ahhh, ack, that’s hurt!” Gen had pinched his shoulders in the place that makes it hurt.

“I’ve said it, there’s a lot of knots here, of course it’s gonna hurt a little.”

“Arghh, Gen enough, it’s hurt!” Senku whined. Fortunately, this time, Gen stopped the massage. But the impact is still as bad. Senku is melting on the floor.

“You’re so sensitive to pressure, I don't think it’s that hard though.”

“It’s not just hurt, it’s weird, I hate it.” Senku whining toward the rug.

“What? You mean it’s good?” Gen boasted, but Senku only triggered. “You just didnt honest with you feeling, Senku-cha– AW!” Gen shrieked as Senku pinched his leg quite hard, had enough with Gen’s shenanigans.

“Served you right.”

“Alright, come here, I'll ease the pain.” Gen tries to lift Senku by the underarms, but Senku refuses to move. “Argh, stop being a ragdol you’re heavy, you know!” With laziness, Senku turned to bury his face in Gen’s stomach, toward the fluffy sweater.

For comfort, Senku put his arms around Gen's waist. Gen is rubbing Senku’s back, nape, shoulder, and head. It feels like bliss. Gen should just do this in the first place.

“We will start to eat. Gen-kun and Senku-kun must be having a tired day. Let us prepare your plate.” Senku had forgotten that they had guests. Well, it’s Taiju and Yuzuriha, nothing new.

“Uh, you don't have to. I’ll prepare myself.” Senku lifted his head, but before he stood up, Yuzuriha stopped him while she went to the kitchen.

“No, no, Senku-kun, We insist.” Yuzuriha smiles. She already had a mom adornment on her face.

“Um, okay?” Senku is confused, but he’s not gonna think about that, then he’s back to the warmth he had. “Continue.”

“Alright, dictator Senku-chan.”

They had a meal together in the kotatsu while Daichi was sleeping on the couch, and they had a conversation about everything but work while in it. It’s refreshing to talk about something else. When it’s time to eat the dessert, Gen takes a leave from the kotatsu.

“You guys start first, I need to charge my phone, wanting to check something.” Gen had walked toward the hall, presumably his room.

Senku takes two sliced cakes on one medium plate, so they can have them together when Gen’s back. Yuzuriha bought a surprise cake, meaning the customers didn’t know what flavour that day. It’s changed every other time.

In pleasing surprise, it tastes exactly like Senku Cola. It’s not the mass-produced one, but it’s the original one. The one that slightly bitter and leafy taste. Senku is excited for Gen to taste it.

“Oi Mentalist! You need to taste this.” Senku beamed, standing up.

“I just charged it!” Gen shouts from the other side of the house.

“Where are you?”

“My room.”

“Charge here, in the counter.” Senku wait him in the kitchen.

“Ugh, everything I do for you, Senku-chan.”

“Just come here, and taste it.” Senku is growing impatient.

Gen is in kitchen counter, charging the phone. Senku positions himself on Gen’s side. On his right again, as Gen leaned on the counter. While he’s busy with his phone, Senku feeds Gen the cake.

“WOAH! It’s the same thing! Whoa, I got goosebumps." Gen’s widen his eyes in pleased shock.

“Kukuku, right?! It’s crazy how they can manage to make it this close, I mean, the recipe was everywhere, but to make it a cake, and still have the same thing I made.” Senku intrigued.

“And taste good,” Gen added.

“And taste good, too.” Senku agreed, as he diverted his attention toward the couple on the couch. “Did you do this, Yuzuriha?”

“No! I bought it to have a bit of fun.” She was frantically waving her arms.

“Whoa, azy-cray. It’s a bit sweeter, but that just makes sense because it’s cake.” Ge,n take another bite. “Today had a lot of nostalgia, right?” Gen nudge Senku by the shoulder as he is cleaning up the spoon.

“Right,” Senku smirked.

“Oh! Sakura text me!” Gen excitedly pats Senku’s stomach to inform him while Gen’s attention is on the screen. Then, tugging Senku’s shirt so they are close together, side by side

“Hm? What did he text?” Senku feeds Gen again while he stretches his hand, so both of them can see. “Oho, the kid actually said sorry to you.” Senku put the plate on the nearby counter beside Gen, while his other hand leaned, supporting him by the counter, essentially caging Gen between him and the counter.

“Hm, he’s so precious, I’m serious when I said I will take care of it.” Gen’s tone is solemn.

“I know, I can see that,” Senku reassured.

“Haah, what’s wrong with people?! He had hair like one of the generals! Isn’t that good luck?! Instead, they treat him like some kind of monster. Aahh, I'm frustrated.” Gen rambling while leaning his body toward Senku, so his head was on Senku’s left shoulder. As if in reflex, Senku petted Gen’s head, especially the white part.

“Good work today.” Senku takes a spoonful of the cake on the counter. “Here, have more reward.”

Gen immediately eats it before he realizes something. “Is this your strategy to make me gain weight again?” said Gen while chewing, looking up at Senku.

“I don't know what you mean.” Senku tries to sound casual while taking a spoonful again, smirking.

“You need to practice your lie,” Gen mumbled as he took the bite.

“Why should I? You know my lie anyway. It would be counterproductive.” Senku gives Gen another spoonful to his lips, only for Gen to dodge.

“Ahh, I can't eat anymore, Senku-chan.” Gen is whining while tugging his side shirt. But Senku didn't budge, tugging Gen’s white behind his ear.

“One spoon left. C’mon, Aaa.” At the end, Gen eats it while whining. There is cream on the edge of Gen's lips. So Senku wipes it clean. “Ah, look at this, you are being messy like a baby.” Senku teased. Before Gen is gonna complain, he got cut by Yuzuriha's sudden exclamation.

“Senku-kun, Gen-kun, We will go back now!”

“We are?” Taiju murmured while he stood up with Daichi in his arms.

“Yes, it’s time for Daichi to put him in his crate.”

“Oh, Yuzu-chan, thank you for coming!” They follow them toward the exit.

“You're welcome! Should we invite everyone to have dinner tomorrow? To celebrate your back, Gen!” In the gekkan, Yuzuriha asks while putting on her shoe.

“Hah? We can’t prepare that much.” Senku frowning.

“Just let us bring our own food,” Yuzuriha reassured.

“Well, I'm not against a party for me,” Gen said smugly.

“Then it’s settled, tomorrow at 7 pm, here.” Yuzuriha clapped her hands with an excited smile on her face. “Thankyou for having us! Good night!”

“Good night, guys!” Taiju beamed while closing the door.

“Ou!” There’s a hesitation in Senku’s voice as he is a bit confused by the sudden leave.

“They look busy?” Gen looked as confused as Senku.

“U-huh.”

Notes:

[Will not be updated regularly. But definitely not gonna let this one go.]
Feel free to check the full fict, it’s the first fict of this series. It’s about how SenGen gets together and their first encounter with Sakura.

I just realised that for this fict, people need to know a bit of context about Sakura’s background and how he impacting SenGen. AND Senku and Gen's struggle as Generals for the buildup.
