From Scorpius, To Astoria
Beginning of Year 1
Dearest Mum,
I’d be happy to tell you all about my new friend! He’s really great! He’s Harry Potter’s son if you can believe it! I know Father doesn’t like the Potters, but I hope he can learn to be okay with my friendship with Albus.
I know I don’t have much to compare it to, but Albus is the most wonderful friend! He’s so nice to me and doesn’t mind that I tend to talk too much. And he always listens to my rambling. Actively listens, and asks questions, and then remembers and will bring up things later.
Like last week, I mentioned that I wanted a Nicholas Flamel Chocolate Frog card, and then today, he told me he’d traded for one since I wanted it so much. Can you believe that? It was the nicest thing anyone (other than you and Father) has ever done for me! It made me so happy and I felt special. For someone to have not only listened to me, but went out of his way to do that! Maybe this isn’t that special and maybe people do that for friends all the time, I wouldn’t really know, but it felt special.
I think maybe we might be on our way to being best friends! I hope this doesn’t worry you, but Albus is my only friend here. At least, so far! I am trying though, but I’m sure you can imagine that the other kids aren’t wanting to talk to me. No one is being mean though.
Albus is the same way, which surprises me because I would have figured people would be lining up to be his friend. We don’t need anyone else though, as long as we have each other. I know that’s cheesy, but it feels true. And I hope it will always be true. I hope one day you’ll be able to meet him!
