Work Text:
The sun was nice. Seeing the light seep in from behind the trees (the city was so full of life, it reminded him of home), soothed him in a way he simply couldn’t explain, and the haze from the warmth of the sun felt much nicer than the sickly haze that infected his body.
The warmth turned into something hotter, burning, and he doubled over into a coughing fit, a couple splatters of blood colouring the floor beneath him. It took him a few moments to recollect himself, but once he did, he turned back to the yellow light he’d been admiring.
Why is there blood beneath me? He wondered absentmindedly, and wiped it away with his hand, which he then wiped on his clothing. There. Much better.
The sun no longer prickled his skin violently (what was he talking about? It never did.), instead the warmth caressed him, the light of day bringing comfort, and safety.
A girl he vaguely recognised pulled herself up through a crack in the roof, sitting beside him, admiring the sun. “Wanna watch the sun rise together?” She asked, as though they hadn’t molded into each other comfortably, already both staring at the sun.
“Yeah, doesn’t it look beautiful?” He replied with a smile, as warmth filled his heart the same way warmth filled the city, and nothing was wrong.
Sure the warmth in his heart didn’t warm his body, which felt clammy and freezing at the same time. Maybe it didn’t wear away the infection that had already made its way to his damaged brain, but it was enough. For now.
Spidey. The name came to him tentatively.
And I’m… He wasn’t quite there yet. But that’s okay. He had all the time to remember, and Spidey would help him too!
