The New Reign

Summary:

All it took was a good plan, subtle scheming and a wife that made sure the plan was successful. It was tough, but she would do anything to make it work and now the world had to change under the new reign that she has always dreamt of.

Notes:

Hello, this is my first attempt to make this pairing work in actual text. I've written it in January, right after finishing the game. I wanted Ghetsis to win so badly and it shows in this fic, haha. There's all there is to it, just a girlie wanting one of her favorite villains to win, enjoy 💜

Here's Ophelia's bio if anyone's interested!

Work Text:

She was ordered to wait, yet it was killing her. She loved the Team Plasma’s castle, she grew attached to the walls, the beautiful design that they all worked so hard on, but now, being forced to sit in one of the rooms was tedious. The Swanna that she owned ever since she could remember was getting impatient as well, pacing back and forth on the golden tiles, flapping her wings as if cleaning some dust from her feathers.

"Calm down, Swanna" Ophelia said, changing the leg that she had crossed. The bird Pokemon stopped, turning her beak towards her owner. "Tippy-tapping your feet all the time won't help you."

Swanna started flapping her wings wildly, talking loudly, voicing her protests.

"I know, but he wants us to wait." Ophelia stood up to walk to the bird. She caught her beak, receiving a hateful glare from Swanna. "Ghetsis' word is sacred, we cannot disobey him."

If it was any other person who would caught Swanna's beak like that, they would already be on their way to the nearest hospital, but not Ophelia. Swanna freed her beak and hissed at her, coming back to her walking.

Ophelia wanted to go with Ghetsis to welcome the girl who N wanted to fight with, but he denied her that.

"No" he stated coldly. "You, my dearest, will await her arrival on the floor below. I want you to test her abilities if she's worthy of being the chosen one by N."

Ophelia was doing just that, trying to not lose her patience in opposition to her beloved Swanna. They both turned their attention to the door when the girl walked inside.

"And our guest has arrived" Ophelia welcomed her. She whistled, signaling Swanna to create some wind with her wings to close the door. "Tell me, do you really want to go upstairs?"

The girl turned her attention from closed door to Ophelia and then to Swanna, who was eager for a fight. She didn't move only because of Ophelia's gesture.

"I have to" the girl answered with courage. She took a Pokeball out of her bag. "I'll fight you if I must."

"Oh dear child," Ophelia shook her head before gesturing for Swanna to come closer to her. "You didn't listen to my warning back near the Castelia City."

They met once, Ophelia telling the girl and her friends to stay away. It could be read as a threat, but in truth it was a warning. They all thought N was the mastermind, but it was a well done lie. Ghetsis was the real danger and Ophelia really didn't want those children to be hurt. Not at that moment, at least. Yet, fate wanted it the other way around.

"You are about to separate Pokemon and people. I cannot let that happen" the girl shouted, calling out her Emboar. The big Pokemon stomped on the floor with a loud thud, growling.

Ophelia lowered her eyelids, a smirk appearing on her face. "You are yet to see what we're about to do." She raised her hand and pointed at her opponent. "Swanna, you know what to do!"

Swanna didn't need any other words. She charged at Emboar with full speed, taking the pig Pokemon off guard. She send him flying at the girl, both falling to the floor.

Ophelia took a step forward, her heels clicking elegantly against the golden surface. "Let's see if you're capable… No, worthy of facing the true mastermind. Swanna!"

The swan Pokemon attacked with vigor, beating Emboar with her water attack, creating a huge wave of water. Four more Pokemon were crushed by her as well, the swan Pokemon not breaking a sweat. Finally the girl called out Leavanny, who had beaten Swanna with her grass type moves. Ophelia thanked Swanna for her fight, calling her back to her Pokeball.

"Leavanny is your last Pokemon, right?" Ophelia asked, taking out her second and last Pokeball. "I might be on disadvantage, but you're too weak. Come on forth, Samurott!"

The water Pokemon appeared, roaring loudly. He was always the last resort and he knew it too well.

"Another water Pokemon?" the girl asked in shock. "Leavanny, leaf blade!"

"Samurott, endure it!" The Samurott didn't know this move, but he steadied himself, taking the attack and barely surviving. "Now, tear it with Blizzard!"

"What?!" The girl shouted just before the whole room was covered in ice, the blizzard taking the remaining life of Leavanny.

Ophelia watched as the girl run to her last beaten Pokemon, concern written all over her face.

"You're weak" Ophelia concluded, receiving a hateful glare from the girl. Ophelia turned to the table and took the yellow gems. She threw them on the floor, watching as they landed before the girl. "Take the revives and use them if you still wish to fight our Lord N." Watching as the girl did what she was told, Ophelia concluded with: "I would advice against it. You might die up there."

"N would never kill a person!" The girl argued.

Ophelia laughed. "Not N, but there are two other people that will if necessary."

This was the last warning before the girl left the room and headed upstairs. Ophelia could hear her footsteps above while she was healing Samurott and Swanna. "You both did great" she praised them, petting Samurott's muzzle and Swanna's head. "Now, will you do me the favor of going upstairs with me?"

Samurott made a shocked sound as he was rarely allowed out of the Pokeball. Not like he minded, he was lazy from nature. Swanna pecked his shell in a friendly gesture, explaining to him what was the plan. He jumped from excitement, wanting to go.

"Alright, let's go then!" With this, they both exited the room and headed on the upper floor.

They walked to the now destroyed throne room when the battle already raged on. Ophelia saw the boy that was seen by her near Castelia City with the girl. Next to him stood Alder, carefully watching the battle unfolding in front of them. N was standing in the back, as engrossed in the battle as the rest. The girl's Emboar was defeated at the moment, Ghetsis only starting to wipe her entire team out.

Using the loudness of Pokemon fighting, Ophelia neared closer to Alder and the boy, not drawing attention to herself. She watched as the Cofagrigus was slowly defeated by the girl's Krookodile, just to be replaced by Hydreigon.

Now it is over, Ophelia thought, her eyes shining with adoration as she saw her husband fight. She could see the burning passion in his eye, the will to win this undeniably charming.

Swanna pulled on Opehlia’s dress with her beak to not let her walk any closer. Samurott did the same, careful to not tear the dress with his sharp teeth. Ophelia felt the pull and somehow stopped herself from nearing closer. She couldn't help but clap her hands together when Krookodile was defeated in one hit. Just like she expected, the girl's other Pokemon were defeated as easily, even the legendary Pokemon Reshiram not being of any help in the battle.

"No…" The girl sobbed.

Ghetsis' laugh echoed through the room and as Alder and the boy wanted to rush with help, Ophelia snapped her fingers, causing Samurott to let go of her dress and attack the two. He made both fall to the floor, his big and heavy paws pinning them to the ground.

"Now, I cannot let you destroy our plans, can I?" Ophelia said happily.

"Ophelia you…" Alder hissed, hissing from pain when Samurott put much more weight on him.

Ghetsis meanwhile walked to the defeated girl with a smirk on his face. "I told you, that you're not a match for me." He bent his back over the defeated girl to grab her ponytail with his left hand and pick her up by it in accompaniment of her screams. She wanted to free herself, but his grip was way stronger. "But you were persistent. You thought you could defeat me, Ghetsis! Laughable really."

"Let go!" The girl screamed, scratching at his hand and arm.

"No can do, I'm afraid" Ghetsis said calmly, which only froze everyone's blood. "You see, there's a grand opening in the throne room.” The girl stopped struggling, fear filling her eyes. “I think the view will be beautiful from there. Worthy of the defeated one."

"Ghetsis, stop this!" Alder shouted, trying to stand up. Samurott growled, standing on Alder with both paws, freeing the boy.

"Hilda!" The boy shouted, hurrying to his feet.

Ophelia whistled and Swanna landed in front of the boy before he reached Ghetsis, puffing out her feathers, hissing, wings spread out. The boy stopped dead in his tracks.

"She'll kill you if you take any more steps" Ophelia warned the boy, who looked in panic at her.

"He'll murder Hilda!" He shouted at her.

Ophelia's smile only widened. "She knows too much. She has to be gone. Just like the two of you."

"The three!" Ghetsis shouted. "The freak without a human heart had a change of mind!" Ghetsis stopped before the stairs, looking back at N. "He might as well join the girl for all I care. Now, come on!" Despite Hilda trying to free herself, Ghetsis was strong enough to drag her up the stairs, towards the hole that Zekrom made.

"N, what did you do?" Ophelia asked, walking past Alder and the boy.

"Nothing, mother" N admitted. "I lost. The legendary Pokemon had chosen her as a hero, not me, I…"

Despite N's fast talking, Ophelia could understand him well. She walked to him and took his face into her hands. "Shhhh" she silenced him, making the same gesture as when he was a child and needed someone to calm him down. "Legends can make mistakes as well" she explained calmly. "The defeat is not your fault, it was a mistake, nothing else." She looked at Zekrom, letting N go. "See? It's still next to you."

Zekrom stood next to N, looking in concern at him. This caused N's attention to turn to the legendary Pokemon just in time so he wouldn't have to witness Ghetsis making it to the hole in the wall. Nor see the struggle of Hilda who was thrown out through it, her Pokeballs and items she carried in the bag flying out with her. Her scream was filled with panic as she tried to at least grab the remains of the wall, the boy and Alder yelling her name as they were powerless against this cruel execution.

The boy tried to go past Swanna, but she sent him flying using air slash, Alder almost being crushed by Samurott. Ghetsis turned to the rest after he was sure that the remains of the girl were no longer moving after falling from such a height. His face adorned with a twisted smile, his red eye glowing with pure satisfaction.

"Ophelia" he shouted, before pointing at the boy and Alder. "Get rid of them."

"With pleasure" she answered, but instead of calling her Pokemon off, she walked to Ghetsis. They met in the middle of the bridge to the throne. "I would like to ask you for forgiveness beforehand."

"For what?" Ghetsis tilted his head. "You did nothing wrong, dearest."

"Forgiveness for N." She saw the flicker of anger in his eye. She quickly bowed her head. "The boy got lost. Let him wander and see that under the reign of the new king the world will be better."

"New king?" Ghetsis certainly liked the sound of it. "And who should that be?"

"You, of course" Ophelia's answer was immediate. "There's no one more suitable."

"Hah!" Ghetsis laughed, his mood back to good one. "Such words could only be spoken by my Goddess." Ophelia blushed at the compliment. "So be it." This change of decision could only be made by her plea. "Let him go, but keep an eye on him. I will not tolerate any signs of insubordination, especially from a freak without a human heart."

"Will do, dearest."

Nearing the stairs she made her way to N, telling him about Ghetsis' decision. After N flew out on Zekrom, Ophelia called Samurott and Swanna to her, freeing Alder and letting the boy join his side once more. Alder was in no condition to fight, but the boy was.

"Ophelia" Alder pleaded, the boy supporting him. He had troubles with standing. "Is this really what you want?"

Ghetsis' chuckle could be heard as he listened and watched the unfolding scene carefully.

"You are the daughter of Felicity, the previous Champion and my dearest friend. Do you really want to make all of the people and Pokemon suffer by separating them?"

"Why, yes" Ophelia answered with a smile. "Only a few will keep their Pokemon and will make sure that the new king's reign will withstand any troubles."

"You're talking as if you were mad" Alder concluded.

"Because she is." Ghetsis made his way to Ophelia. He put a hand on her shoulder. He leaned so that his face was next to her ear. "She's my mad Goddess who will make sure that neither you or the boy gets out of here alive. Am I correct, dearest?"

"As correct as you’ll ever be." Ophelia snapped her fingers and whistled, calling Samurott and Swanna before her. "Samurott, help Swanna get rid of these scums."

The hiss that Swanna made was of pure excitement when she finally got a free hand at going all out, Samurott at her side just like back in the day when Ophelia was young and was taking on the Pokemon League.

As the scene unfolded, Alder and the boy sending out their Pokemon against Ophelia’s, Ghetsis did not leave Ophelia's side. He lowered his hand, placing it on her side to bring her closer, their cheeks brushing against each other.

"All of this would be impossible without you" he said, thanking her subtly. Ophelia felt flattered.

"I'm glad I could be of this much help" she admitted, leaning into him.

"Will you do me the favor of becoming my queen?" he asked, showing her one of his most charming smiles when she looked at him.

"Such a stupid question" she shook her head, adoring this smile. "Of course I will, dearest." It was their goal for several years after all. "Of course I will."

And just like that, the new world was shaped, starting the Harmonia reign all over the Unova region.
