Summary
It was nearing two in the morning, and Mike was four beers in.
He sat, moping at a table tucked away in the corner of the bar, spinning his empty glass around in his hand.
He was drunk, and he didn’t feel better than before he came in. Even through his drunken haze he couldn’t push away the emptiness that he carried with him everywhere now.
Yet, even in his sorry state, his inebriated mind couldn’t help but think that it would be a good idea to get another beer.
Maybe I’ll get lucky and blackout, he thought.
So, letting out a weary sigh, he got up to make his way towards the bar through the dwindling crowd.
But that’s when he stopped.
He froze, standing in the middle of the floor, unable to tear his eyes away from the boy sitting at the bar. He was leaning forward in his chair as he smiled, laughing at something the person next to him had said.
It was him. It was Will.
Will.
Suddenly, he couldn’t help it when the feelings he had tried to repress for as long as he could remember washed over him once again. When his long forgotten memories hit him like a freight train, and everything from those two summers ago came flooding back to him.
