yao’s dark hair splayed out onto the mattress, arthur’s fingers leisurely weaving between the silky strands.
the golden sun casted dark shadows across the bed where they lay, silently and quietly.
“don’t start, darling, i already know what you’re going to say.” arthur said delicately, his emerald eyes watching as yao looked up at him.
yao let out a breathy laugh.
“am i really that predictable?” he wrapped his arms around arthur’s waist, who nodded.
“yes you are.”
a moment of silence briefly passed by.
yao scooted upwards, towards arthur, the fabric of his half-buttoned shirt shifted along with him.
“i don’t think it would be a bad idea,” yao continued, rubbing the back of arthur’s neck slowly.
arthur huffed, his fingers still toying with yao’s hair.
“it would be a terrible idea,” he responded, a tinge of amusement hidden in his tone.
and so yao sighed, taking his hand off of arthur’s neck, placing a gentle kiss there instead.
he watched the as the sun repositioned its glow lower onto the floor. the golden color spilled all over yao’s face as he turned his gaze back to arthur.
“why though?”
arthur’s lips upturned in a lighthearted manner.
“you know why.”
yao reciprocated the smile, finally resting his head against arthur’s chest, listening to the heartbeat of his.
“your pace is quickening.” yao once again glanced up at arthur.
“well then, i suppose i am no different than when i first met you.” arthur added, closing his eyes peacefully.
yao broke his gaze off him, letting a hum of agreement.
“i agree.”
the afternoon proceeded with an unresolved conflict and a warm welcome to dusk.
