Work Text:

Joe was milliseconds from kissing Nicky when Booker took a grab of Joe's earlobe and dragged him with him.

Joe: "Let me go. I want to kiss Nicky."

Booker: "You'll have plenty of time for that later, Sir Chick-A-Lot. Come along."

Joe blew an air kiss to Nicky, and then Joe and Booker were gone.

Nile: "Nicky, could I ask you something?"

Nicky: "Of course."

Nile: "Why did Booker call Joe for Sir Chick-A-Lot?"

Nicky chuckled.

Nicky: "Back in the 70s, Joe and Booker were trying to break up a drug ring. And for days, they had tried to get close to the house, but every time they did, someone shot at them, which meant the police turned up. So, while thinking about their next move, Booker got what he thought was a brilliant idea, but Joe disagreed with him, mainly because Joe was the one who had to carry out the plan. Before I continue, have you ever seen people in all sorts of costumes working outside a restaurant, turning signs?"

Nile: "Yes, I have."

Nicky smiled.

Nicky: "The drug ring had set up shop across a restaurant where they sold all sorts of chicken dishes. And it was because of the restaurant that Booker got his brilliant idea, because the restaurant needed a new chicken mascot. Can you guess what Booker's brilliant idea was?"

Nile: "Put Joe in the chicken costume as a way to get close to the house?"

Nicky: "That was also part of the plan, but Booker had also noticed that next to the restaurant was an alleyway that everyone walked past. So as long as Joe made sure to be near the alleyway whenever someone from the drug ring walked past, he could hit them with the sign he was swinging, and Booker would drag them into the alleyway."

Nile: "Okay, I admit it, Booker actually got a brilliant idea."

Nicky rubbed his eye with his finger.

Nicky: "So, after a lot of arguing and applying for a job that Joe didn't want, they set their plan in motion that night. And as predicted, people from the drug ring went to the restaurant for something to eat, and because people didn't return to the house again, the rest started getting worried, which meant Joe and Booker finally got the chance to deal with the drug ring once and for all. But because Joe and Booker are Joe and Booker, they forgot all about the job the restaurant owner had hired Joe to do."

Nile: "What do you mean?"

Nicky: "Joe and Booker succeeded in breaking up the drug ring by burning down the house and all the drugs, which is still a great service to the world."

Nile: "I couldn't agree more with you, and kudos to them for doing it."

Nicky: "But what Joe and Booker had forgotten all about was the chicken costume Joe was still wearing."

Nile: "Are you saying Joe did the mission in the chicken costume?"

Nicky: "Yes, and when the restaurant owner saw that Joe had abandoned his post, the restaurant owner found his shotgun and aimed at Joe, who got hit in his ass while running away in the chicken costume. It turned out the restaurant owner thought Joe was planning to steal the chicken costume, as the predecessor had done."

Nile laughed, and so did Nicky.

Nile: "That is the funniest story I have heard in a long while. Wait, how did you know that the guy who had the job Joe got stole a chicken costume?"

Nicky: "Because a journalist interviewed the restaurant owner about the drug ring, and the restaurant owner was more angry about losing his second chicken costume than about losing paying customers."

Nile and Nicky laughed again.

Nicky: "And that is why Booker calls Joe Sir Chick-A-Lot, because it was the name of the restaurant. It closed shortly after the events that happened that night."

Nile: "That is funny. But did the restaurant owner ever get his chicken costume back?"

Nicky: "Joe did something else. As a way of saying sorry for stealing, Joe, with the help of Booker, made it look like the restaurant owner had inherited some money from an unknown family member. And thanks to the money, the restaurant owner could retire and live a comfortable life with his wife."

Nile: "I love it whenever you help people who deserve it."

Nicky nodded.

Nile: "I would really love to have seen Joe in that chicken costume."

Nicky: "Don't tell Joe I said this, but I would also have loved to have seen it."

Nile and Nicky laughed.

Nile: "If you were not with Joe and Booker on that mission, where were you?"

Nicky: "I were playing Andy's husband. We were trying to deal with a robber who were robbing married couples. I will tell you that story another day, because right now, I want to see if you have figured out how to throw me over your shoulder."

Nile groaned, which made Nicky look at her.

Nile: "What I meant was I love training with you."
