    “Relax,” she murmurs. “This is supposed to be a celebration.”

    “I know. It’s just—” He runs a hand through his hair. “It’s been almost two centuries since I demolished that guardhouse. I still can’t believe Tarquin’s finally letting it go.”

    “Well, you did apologize extensively, and you paid reparations.” Nesta squeezes his hand. “Besides, you were young. Stupid. Full of yourself.” She smirks. “Now you’re just the latter two.”

    He huffs a laugh despite himself. “Rhys would agree with you.”

    “That would be a first. Stop acting like you’re about to face execution and remember that this is supposed to be a celebration.” She smiles. “Come on. Let’s go grovel appropriately.”
