Alistair had been retired for decades now, but he still missed UNIT. He missed being in charge. He missed seeing the doctor every day. He missed seeing the Doctor in general.
The Doctor had started to spread out his visits, from a few days to months, then years… and then nothing.
His love was gone, and he was never able to show his feelings.
A man with greying hair is sitting at his bedside. He gives off similar vibes to his love of before.
"I'm so sorry I left you, Alistair."
So that was him, back at the very end.
