“Dad?” The oldest living child of Dionysus knocked on the door to the god’s office.
“Elliott, do you need something?” he asked, sipping from a glass of Atlantean wine.
Elliott fidgeted with their fingers. “Uh, yeah. I wanted to tell you something.”
The wine god beckoned Elliott behind his desk, setting the glass down and gently taking their hands. “You know you can tell me anything, sweetheart. What is it?”
They smiled slightly. “Thanks, dad. Um, I wanted to tell you that I’ve been thinking a lot about my identity lately. I don’t think I identify with the nonbinary label anymore. I think… I want to transition. Fully.”
Dionysus let a warm smile rise to his lips, reeling Elliott into a hug after their nod. “Thank you for telling me. Are you thinking of changing your name again? Also, would you like me to do anything for you? New pronouns?”
Elliott warmed at their father’s clear care for them. “I want to try he/they. I don’t think I’m ready to fully drop the ‘they’ yet. I don’t feel the urge to change my name again, I think it still fits.”
Dionysus nodded, knowing his son would want him to test the new pronouns. “This is my son, Elliott. He’s amazing, he’s very handsome, and people would be lucky to be his friend. He’s my wonderful son, and I’m very proud of him.”
Elliott huffed out a laugh, shaking his head fondly. “I appreciate it. Now to go tell everyone.”.
“Do you want me to announce it at dinner?” the god offered. “That way you don’t have to constantly repeat yourself. I know how tiring that gets.”
Elliott grinned. “You’re an icon, dad.”
His father returned his son’s smile. “I know. Love you, son.”
Elliott hugged his father tighter. “I love you, dad.”
Dio smirked, reclining back in his chair and picking up his wine. “Go on, off with you. See you at dinner, kid.”
