Chapter Text

Jiang Tianming wanted to give up, but he kept throwing the defensive items he had. His friends could die, he could die. The plan they thought would go well would be ruined in an instant.

He looked at Su Bei, “Do you have a plan?” Jian Tianming asked hopefully.

The expression Su Bei usually wore was nowhere to be seen. His eyes flashed with a complicated expression that could not be described. Before Jiang Tianming could ask again, he smiled broadly, “Remember to apologize to me afterwards, for making me pay such a huge price to save your lives.”

Jiang Tianming didn't know what to say. Su Bei's smile was full of exhaustion, as if he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Before he could call out to him, Su Bei floated into the air, his hair fluttering with the fluctuations of energy in his hands. A gear appeared.

Jiang Tianming could feel it, a huge amount of energy, too much energy. His friends felt it too, their expressions filled with worry.

And that's when Jian Tianming realized that Su Bei's hair was turning white, as if life was leaving him. “Su Bei!” Jiang Tianming cried out in alarm, reacting immediately to what was happening. “You're using your life force to use your ability?!”

Su Bei didn't listen. Calmly, he opened his eyes, and in an instant, the nightmare beasts surrounding them died instantly. Jian Tianming was shocked and immediately knew whose doing it was. “SU BE—”

It was too late. Su Bei calmly disappeared from the bottom up, until he turned into ashes and dissipated in the air.

Jian Tianming's heart sank. In an instant, he lost someone. Someone he thought didn't care about others, and now he had sacrificed himself. Changing destiny to save everyone from a destiny.

A cruel one.

There were no signs, no signs that Su Bei was still alive. Jian Tianming's sensor gave no answer.

Qi Huang couldn't accept the reality. “Impossible! He must still be alive! He must be slacking off and just wants an excuse to run away!”

Lan Subing repeatedly used [Word Spirit] to bring Su Bei back, but the only result was that she coughed up blood. Lan Subing didn't stop until Wu Mingbai and Si Zhaohua arrived and knocked Lan Subing out before things got worse.

Wu Mingbai thought this was a bad joke, Su Bei dead? Just to save them!?

Si Zhaohua gritted his teeth, "Su Bei is a member of the ‘Destiny’ organization, he has so many items. I have a resurrection item, how could he not have one? He must have quietly revived somewhere we don't know."

For a moment there was a glimmer of hope, but it was shattered considering they were in the Nightmare Beast World.

Jian Tianming didn't want to believe it, but after all, what they saw couldn't be changed.

Because the destiny changer was no longer here.

Three days later, the S-class still hadn't recovered from what had happened. They lost another classmate in the most tragic way. Only gloomy faces and silence filled the classroom.

Lan Subing broke the silence, “I... still can't believe he did that.”

The whole class agreed that what Su Bei did was not like him. Or maybe they had never understood Su Bei, who was always so reserved that it was difficult to know what he was thinking.

Jian Tianming couldn't erase the memory of that moment, Su Bei's smile that looked so bright and sincere. Once again, he had lost someone who was... precious.
He wanted to be angry at himself for being too weak, always relying on others.

“...Has Destiny responded regarding Su Bei?” Wung Mingbai asked.

Before anyone could answer, someone slammed the door. Meng Huai, with a serious expression, looked at Class S, “Su Bei is still alive.”

“!?”

Jian Tianming immediately stood up, “Is that true!? Where is he now!?”

Qi Huang replied, “look!im right,he's still alive!”

Zhaohua opened his mouth, “How could teacher know?”

S class filled the room with questions

Before anyone else could ask more, Meng Huai shouted, “Everyone, quiet!”

He sighed and scratched his head, “You guys are really giving me a headache.” He walked to the front of the class, "Destiny contacted the academy and said that Su Bei is still alive. They can sense it, but very weak. They asked us to look for him."

Hope! The faces of the S-class students brightened again. They had received incredible news. Their friend was still alive out there.

Mu Tieren spoke up, “How are we going to look for him? He could be anywhere.”

“What if he's still in the Nightmare Beast World!?” Lang Subin panicked.

The classmates also considered the worst possibility. Meng Huai shook his head and looked at Feng Lan, “Can you predict it?”

Feng Lan thought for a moment, “I'll try.”

“Do your best, Feng Lan, we're counting on you!” said Wu Mingbai.

Feng Lan nodded and used a lot of his mental energy to obtain a specific prediction for his friend.

He opened his eyes, and his classmates waited hopefully. “I see a bed and someone lying there alone. The place looks like...”

“Su Bei's room!” Zhao Xiayou interrupted.

The S-class immediately headed to their destination. Standing in front of the door, they took a deep breath, hoping that there was life behind it.

Since the door was locked, Meng Huai was forced to break it open, and they quickly rushed inside.

In a room, a person with golden hair that was fading to white was lying on a mattress. His face was so pale that if not for the rise and fall of his chest, he would have been mistaken for a corpse.

His breathing was calm, the silence vast, as if he would never wake up.

“Su Bei!” Jian Tianming approached Su Bei with concern.

Su Bei still did not wake up. “Teacher, what happened?” Mu Tieren asked Meng Huai.

Meng Huai held Su Bei's hand and checked his pulse. “This is likely a side effect, but he should be fine.”

“His hair...” Lan Subing muttered.

They could see it, Su Bei's blonde hair, now white from using his life force.

“Teacher, will he be able to recover completely?” Li Shu asked.

Class S hoped for his answer, but Meng Huai shook his head. “It's very likely that he has also lost his abilities.”

Qi Huang, “Is he going to leave the academy!?”

“Ugh...”
!?

The commotion came from Su Bei, and the S class were surprised and tried not to disturb Su Bei, who was about to wake up. Meng Huai leaned down slowly, “Su Bei, can you hear us?”

Su Bei's eyes opened slowly, and he blinked several times to adjust to the light. He looked in the direction of the voice calling him, “Wha—”

*Cough* *cough*

“Su Bei!” Class S panicked.

Su Bei choked and coughed for quite a while until Jiang Tianming gave Su Bei some water. Jiang Tianming helped Su Bei drink slowly. After drinking, Su Bei took a slow breath, his hand holding his chest. Su Bei's face still looked pale and his eyes were slightly unfocused.

Meng Huai asked seriously, “Su Bei, are you okay?”

Su Bei looked at Meng Huai, still holding his chest. “Who... are you guys...”

!?

Everyone was shocked and the vibe in the room felt tense. “Don't joke around, come on, it's not funny!” Wu Mingbai panicked.

Everyone hoped Su Bei would laugh and tease them for being fooled. But Su Bei only showed a confused expression.

Meng Huai furrowed his brows. He knew the side effects could be bad, but he still didn't like what his student was going through.

“Did Black Flash send you?” Su Bei asked warily.

“What...?” Meng Huai was surprised by Su Bei's question.

“Are you serious! He really doesn't remember,” Qi Huang retorted angrily.

“It seems we have to take Su Bei for examination. There are many things we need to confirm,” said Meng Huai.

“He doesn't need to come with you.”

A strange voice made the S class quickly prepare to fight the intruder. Meng Huai stood up and covered Su Bei with his hand.

A man with brown hair and eyes like the sun stood at the open door.

“Who are you?” Meng Huai asked sternly.

“I am the right-hand man of the leader of Destiny, Gold,” said the man.

Zhao Xiayou asked, “What did you mean earlier? Did the leader of Destiny send you here?”

“There was no order from our leader,” replied Gold.

Gold approached Su Bei, who was beginning to realize who had arrived. “...Gold?”

Unexpectedly, Gold was already beside Su Bei, kneeling before him. “I apologize for my tardiness, master.”
