Work Text:
You have been waiting all day to see her, you'd become quite infatuated ever since she saved your life! The world feels as if it's turned upside down. Not long ago you'd have been adamant monsters aren't real, and now for the last week you're questioning everything.
You'd first met her when she started inquiring at your workplace about a colleague that had gone missing last week. With her pretty blonde hair pulled back out of her face, and wearing a fitting light brown coat, you couldn't quite concentrate as she asked about when you'd last seen Jake. You instantly picked out her American accent, "what's an American doing here in the UK?" you asked her, "sort of a work trip thing" she replied.
Your town is a quiet place, who's only redeeming quality is the family owned bakery with a heritage of 100 years. They make the best sausage rolls ever. You wondered why the hell she'd need to be here for a work trip, but you did not need to wait long; you'd rapidly discover that night.
As you'd left work that day, you hopped on your bike to cycle home. Your usual route was to go through the town centre, but on Fridays you liked to take a more scenic route through the outskirts of town. As you flew past the hedges by an abandoned outhouse, you heard some screeching noises from inside. Remembering the local story of some poor cat being trapped for days a few years ago, you decided to go and check that everything was alright. This would turn out to be one of the simultaneously best and worst decisions you've ever made.
When you entered the building you were jumped by the scariest person thing you've ever seen. It's eyes wide stared into yours, and in that moment you thought you were done for. Just as you thought this was the end, a gunshot fires from behind you, killing the beast. You turn around and see the woman from before. With the adrenaline running, it struck you just how gorgeous she is, so much more so than your first impression. "You okay there partner?" she asked you. Once you'd calmed down, she explained the situation:
"There's a nest of pureblood werewolves, and that's why people in your town have been going missing. I was tracking them in America but I found out they'd escaped to England. You used to have people that handled this over here... but to cut a long story short they don't exist anymore. So you've got me instead! These darn sonofaguns had been tearing up Texas before I got here!"
After your weird introduction, over the week you'd accompanied Donna in tracking down the rest of this wolf pack. You'd fallen in love with her gorgeous blonde hair, mutual appreciation for tasty treats, and the humorous catch-phrases she'd use in place of swearing. Not to mention how good she looked in jeans. Time with her seemed to fly as you inched ever closer to finding these monsters.
The next Friday rolled around, and you finally seem to have located their hideout."I think they're hiding out here in the outskirts of town." she said, pointing to a bit of farmland. "Oh I know that land, that's used to be old Ronald's place. Since he passed no-one has been there, I think it was left to his estranged son who left for America years ago. Ronald was always a bit... nuts..., I don't think he was ever the same after his time in the army."
Donna replies "Hold on, the pack leader I tracked is a guy originally from England, he must have been bitten in America. I think the son is our suspect, and he's come back here to hide!" She continues, "We should hide up in the shed here." pointing to the map. "We'll need to get there early, purebloods are often active at night, so he'll be tired and unsuspecting." This was going to be Valentine's day like no other.
That morning you head out to the shed, and discover a whole bunch of weaponry. Who'd have thought the old fella who lived here would've had such a collection? "I love these bad boys!" blurted Donna. You secretly thought how much you wished that sentence referred to you, but she was in fact referencing the cross-bow sitting in the corner of the shed. "This'll take him down alright!".
Now all armed up with extra weapons, you stake out in the shed, waiting to spot the wolf pack. While you're waiting, you try and make some small talk with her "Err Donna, say after this what are you planning to do? Anything for Valentine's day?"
"Oh, I'll be right back to America after this, you betcha. Since my double Doug disasters Valentine's can heckin shove it where the sun don't shine!". You feel your heart deflate a bit. "Well, mayb" you are interrupted by the shed door being yanked off it's hinges. You see that it's Jake, your missing colleague, now turned and intent on eating your heart. He grabs you by the throat, running with you grasped showing off his animalistic strength. You fight as hard as you can, but you are loosing your breath. Just then, an arrow flies past lightly grazing you, taking out Jake and freeing you from his grip. "Holy crap, is that Cupid's arrow?" you joke, wiping the the red blood from the cut the arrow's feather had left on your cheek. "Hakuna matata, wolfie!" exclaims Donna, one your favourite catchphrases of hers. What a way to spend Valentine's day.
After searching around, you find out the pack leader has fled again, and Jake was the only one left. Thanks to her efforts, your town is safe once more. You drive back out to the town centre, and step out the car to get some fresh air after all the action. There's a corner store, and you say you're just going to stop in for a minute. A few minutes later you come back out, hiding something behind your back.
"Donna, I erm..."
"What is it?"
You pull out a bouquet of flowers from behind you. "I just wanted you to know that, well, in a weird way, I realised this last week has been the best of my life. And I know you have to leave soon but, maybe you can delay that for today? It is Valentine's day after all, there's a bakery that do just the best sausage rolls and we could go down by riv.. ". She cuts you off, "I would love to".
