    “You think I don’t have what it takes or something?” She egged, secretly hoping he’d return the banter. She kind of craved it lately. He didn’t see her as a child, but he didn’t take her seriously either. The middle ground they danced within was restricting and enticing.

    She didn’t need to prove herself to him, but she wanted to.
