A guy in his early 20’s, already drove all his family and friends away but he didn't care, he liked being alone. It was now his birthday and he didn't even want to celebrate it. He stayed in his small apartment and ate his hungry man lunch.
Once he finished his food he went to put his dishes in the sink, until he heard a knock at his door. “What the?! Who could that be? I already paid my rent this month.”
He takes a deep breath and goes to the door, he opens the door and all he sees is a package with his name. He never ordered any packages though so he immediately checks who it's from, but there's no name on the package. At that moment he was already late for work, so he did not notice the note on the side of the package. He decides to take the package inside with him to open it later after work for now though he prepared for work.
He never wanted the job he has now, but after his failed dreams of becoming a YouTuber he had no choice; he had to do it to be able to be able to pay the bills. His co-workers tend to call him Squidward since he's rude to everyone, has failed dreams, and now works taking people's food orders. He didn't let that bother him though, because he could care less what people thought of him or at least that's what he told himself. He finally finished his dreadful day of work and went back to his apartment, remembering that package he was going to open.
He finally gets home and slumps over on the couch, he looks at the package and grabs it, before opening it he notices the note on it that says “Happy Birthday!! Enjoy this lovely present just from me, and always remember you're never too old for the circus! From - Abel”
He immediately checks the address that was on the package because he thought for sure this was for somebody else, but as it turns out the address was his. “Who the hell is Abel…? And what is he talking about being too old for the circus?” The guy goes through with opening the package anyways and inside was a virtual reality headset, not a normal one though, it had red and blue circus colors and looked extremely childish. The guy just rolls his eyes to it. “This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my life… I'm not using that.” He puts the headset to the side and prepares himself to go to sleep.
While trying to sleep he keeps tossing and turning, sleep was not going to be easy tonight it seemed like. He looks at the headset again and sighs. “I guess I could kill some energy using this.” He grabs the headset and puts it on his head, turning it on.
As it turns on the circus slowly comes into view all he saw was an extremely colorful and chaotic please. He immediately hated it, and went to pull the headset off his head but it wouldn't come off of his head. He then saw someone floating towards him and he thought he was going crazy because all he saw was a row of teeth with eyes and a body, and then it started speaking. “Hello there my new superstar!!! I'm Caine! What is your name!?”
The guy was still in a state of shock with everything going on, not being able to take off the headset and now a teeth man was talking to him. “What? What's going on?! Also my name?... Wait, I can't remember my name?!”
Caine just laughs seeing how the guy is reacting to everything going on then remembers something. “Oh wait, you're name! I forgot that anyone who gets in the circus forgets their name! Now usually I randomly decide names but this time I'm going to ask you about yourself and then decide your name based on your personality!!”
The guy was already tired of how loud Caine was, but with no way out he's forced to continue playing along. “Well since I was kid I was better than everyone else, so I didn't have time for anyone. I've always wanted to be a YouTuber, but that didn't go really well not because of me though! It was because everyone else doesn't know real artistic work. I just ended up being a fast food worker.”
“Hmm what name would fit that” Caine thinks for a second “I got the perfect name for you! Your name will now be Luis! How did I come to that conclusion you may ask? Well you said you were a failed YouTuber that blames everyone but himself for his failure because he has no creative ability! Sounds like Luis to me!”
“EXCUSE ME!? I will have you know I'm the most talented person you will ever meet. I go on super cool adventures that anyone with a brain in the world would love, you probably know nothing about true talent because you're just teeth with eyes!” The guy gets really defensive when somebody brings up his failed YouTube career. He genuinely believes his ideas were really good and would never admit any fault in it failing.
“Well it's always good to have confidence! I'll have you know though that nobody's adventures are better than mine!” Caine realizes what time it was and calls bubble over to him “Bubble I need you!”
If Luis thought it couldn't get any crazier he sees a talking bubble with eyes and a mouth, at this point he thought he was dreaming with the stuff he was seeing.
“Explain to Daddy Bubble what you need me for.”
“Do not call me that! Anyways I need to go give everyone their adventure for today!! I need you to give the new guy a tour for me.” With that Caine disappears to give the others the adventure for the day and Bubble turns to Luis.
“Well how about we get this frrrrrrreaking party going” Bubble starts moving through the circus showing Luis through everything in the circus. After the long tour the final thing being the rooms for all the characters in the circus.
Seeing all the pictures on the wall Luis was basically laughing seeing all the characters until he stopped by Jax’s room. “Why does this one look like he belongs in Barney”
“You should probably look into a mirror when we get to your room” Bubble says before stopping at his door “This is your room, we did not get your picture up yet but the room is all ready for you.”
Bubble lets Luis go into his room and disappears to go do Bubble things. Luis goes into his room and looks in the mirror seeing himself as a cartoon looking orange snake “AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! What the hell am I?!” Luis starts ripping at his head thinking this was a dream, just to realize there was no exit… he was stuck in the circus.
Over the next few days he met the other circus members. He found all of them to be annoying, especially one of them… Jax seemed to be the best at annoying the others, and for some reason Luis was jealous of that. It became Luis’s goal to out funny the purple rabbit.
Luis started to prank the others around the circus, whether it be stealing parts from Zooble, Drawing stuff on Gangle’s mask while she's sleeping, putting snakes in Ragatha’s room before Jax even can, and he even took a bowling ball and hit Kinger with it claiming he was a “Bowling pin.”
Jax took notice of this and started to envy Luis, he hated the fact that Luis was stealing his spotlight and now he wants to do anything to take it back. He goes up to Luis and gets in his face “You think you're the funny one.”
Luis laughs at Jax’s attempt of being scary “Oh look who it is. It's Barney's bunny brother, look I'm not thinking I'm funny one, I know I'm the funny one. You have no talent for being funny unlike me.”
That drew the line with Jax. He wasn't going to let this new guy come in, that was honestly just taking jokes that Jax already did, and calling it his own. “No talent for being funny? You just took my jokes and made them into yours, you aren't funny, all you are is a fraud.”
“Whatever you say bunny man, you're just upset that now there's a new funny one in town. I will tell you what though, if you think you're more funny than me prove it. Let's have a little competition, loser though has to stop pranking for good.” Luis lays down the rules for the competition waiting to see if Jax would accept the terms.
Jax hesitates for a second but doesn't want to appear weak to Luis. “Fine you're on I guarantee you that you will never be able to prank anybody ever again.” Jax tries to stay as confident as he's always been, but you can hear him being slightly worried.
The next few weeks go by quickly with constant pranks from both Jax and Luis, but no matter what Jax does, Luis would always beat him to it. Jax would end up staring at him in jealously… and a slight other reason but he would shake off that feeling.
Pomni would notice Jax staring at Luis and would call for his attention. “You're staring.”
Jax would immediately snap out of it and look away as quickly as possible. “No I wasn't, I was just looking at the competition!” Jax gets really defensive, it was clear he was hiding some sort of feeling, but what was it that he was hiding?
Pomni just gave him an unconvincing look and walked away. Jax rolls his eyes but also thinks for a second “What's going on with me…? I can't possibly be… no never not again… not after the last time.”
While Luis was walking by with the materials of his next prank he accidentally bumps into Jax. Jax looks at the materials Luis has and gets confused on what he could possibly be doing. “What are those for?”
Luis looks at his materials debating on if he should tell that to Jax but he does anyways. “They are for my next prank, I'm going to glue Zooble’s parts together while they are asleep so they can't change parts.”
Jax couldn't lie, that actually sounded like a really good idea, but then he noticed something the glue Luis was going to use was not going to be strong enough. “You know that the glue you're going to use won't be strong enough right… You should probably use something like this.” Jax gives Luis a new form of glue that was strong enough to glue Zooble's parts together.
Luis was surprised by Jax helping him and for some reason he didn't hate getting help like he usually did. He takes the glue from Jax and looks at it. “Uh… Thanks? What are you doing now though?”
Jax did not really have an idea for what he was doing next, until he saw the other glue Luis was not going to use now. “Could I actually have that glue you're not going to use.”
Luis hesitates for a second to give it to him, but for some reason something made him want to and he gave it to him. Luis then started to walk away, but also looked back at Jax once and felt a flutter in his cold heart. He tries to shake off the feeling and continue on though.
With the help of both of them their pranks were perfect, Zooble's parts were all stuck together, and Jax decided to use that other glue on Pomni's toothbrush, which left a disgusting taste. They both started to realize that maybe working together would be better for them, they didn't want to accept that though.
Slowly though it became more evident though working together makes them both more “funny” at least in their eyes, as time went on they started to team up more, and they started to form a close bond until one day.
Luis and Jax were about to prank somebody before Luis said something Jax didn't expect. “Over these last few weeks I have realized we work so much better as a team, and I think during that time… I think I have fallen in love with you.”
Jax's eyes widened hearing that. He never wanted to be this close with somebody again, not after the last time… not after Ribbit, but something just kept pulling him in. “I… I feel the same way.” Jax couldn't believe he just said that, but the way he was feeling at the moment could be beat. Jax then looked into Luis’s eyes and slowly leaned in, and kissed him.
