“What exactly is the game here, Sweetheart?” Cooper asks when the kiss breaks again, his tone low. Gruff. Thick with the desire he’s been ignoring for so long. It’s not fair how easily she brings it to the surface.
“It feels like we’ve already been playing a game this whole time.” Her nose brushes against the cavity where his used to be. “I like to think this is how we can both win.”
“I ain’t a prize.”
Lucy grins at him because she understands. Because she knows him well enough by now to know it’s a joke. A tease. “Well, I apologise for objectifying you.”

AKA, lucy causes a scene at a bar and it pisses cooper off, but when he tries to put her in her place she has other ideas in mind and decides to take a chance on so-called game...except it's not a game to cooper and neither of them are prepared to call the other's bluff
