Work Text:

"Excuse me. Can you move to the side?"

Yukio blinked and quickly stepped to the side. "Sorry."

The girl looked slightly annoyed but she grabbed the chocolates she was eyeing and left quickly, leaving Yukio to his conflict. His eyes wandered back to the shelf in front of him.

Tomorrow was Valentine's Day. Their first Valentine's Day. So Yukio had to buy Renzou chocolates.

There were many to choose from. Almost too many. There was white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolates with fruit fillings, chocolates with nuts, chocolates with toffee, and chocolates with no additional flair.

Yukio knew two things about Renzou's taste in food. He liked sweet things and he liked limited edition flavors. The problem was that all the packages had branding for Valentine's Day and Yukio never perused the candy aisle so he didn't know which chocolates were limited edition or not. There were a few that said limited edition, but were they talking about the flavor or the packaging?

Yukio pressed his hands against his face, letting his glasses ride up to his forehead. He couldn't call for a worker. That would be embarrassing. And he was starting to gather attention from how long he'd been standing, staring at the chocolate wall. It was mortifying. It wasn't like he could ask Renzou what he wanted either. It was supposed to be a gift.

Yukio tried not to groan. He was in public after all.

Then Yukio frowned. What would his brother do? He knew very well what his brother would do. He would make the damn chocolate himself, but that was well out of Yukio's skill set. So instead, he went with the next best thing Rin would do and walked back to the front of the store to grab a basket.

Renzou was in his bed, reading a continuation of one of his favorite manga but being unable to concentrate at all. He was trying to decide what to do for Valentine's Day. He and Yukio were a fresh couple so he didn't know if Yukio wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day at all. He learned from the beginning that Yukio was pretty shy when it came to romance, so maybe it was the right move to skip their first Valentine's, as heartbreaking as that was.

Wait, skip Valentine's Day? Renzou sat up, his eyebrows furrowed together. He couldn't believe he'd had that thought! He was in a new relationship with an amazing guy and he was thinking about skipping Valentine's Day? Who WAS he?

That's it. Renzou tossed the manga aside and was about to stand when there was a knock at the door. Konekomaru stood up from the other side of the room and answered it.

There, on the other side of the door, stood Yukio who made eye contact with him immediately.

"Oh, are you here to see Renzou-san?" Konekomaru stood aside.

Yukio spared him a single smile before he stalked right right up to Renzou looking like a predator. Renzou's heart lept into his throat when Yukio stood right in front of him and deposited a heavy plastic bag right in his lap.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Yukio muttered quietly, his face starting to flush.

Renzou looked at him, then down and he opened the bag. Inside was a variety of chocolates of all different shapes and sizes and flavors.

"Wh—" Renzou looked up at Yukio with wide eyes. "Did you buy out a store?!"

Yukio's face burned redder. "There was a lot to choose from," he murmured under his breath.

Renzou's eyes sparkled and he put the chocolate aside in order to stand and wrap Yukio up into a tight hug. "Thanks, Yuki-chan! You're the best! Happy Valentine's Day!" He pressed a kiss to Yukio's lips and tucked a finger under his chin. "Now let's go out on a date!"

"Wh-What but—" Yukio turned his head, jerking away from his touch. "Everything's so busy right now and we haven't planned anything—"

"Let's just go where our heart takes us!" Renzou grabbed Yukio's hand and began to tug him to the door.

"What about your chocolate?!" Yukio huffed, trying to stay stubbornly planted. Renzou reached around, grabbed the bag, and pulled him again making him stumble forward.

"Let's go eat it together in the park or something. Come on!!"

Somehow, Renzou had dragged Yukio out the door with a singular goodbye to Konekomaru and together, they had a sweet Valentine's Evening.
