"Oh! Hello Hinata!" Rin smiled, tail perking and then going still and lax as he realized it wasn't who he was really waiting for. That gave Ryuuji a little relief, as he silently continued his… staring, stalking? Observation.
"What's up? Whatcha got there?" Her fingers dug into the paper. The crinkle loud in his human ears that were starting to pound loud and louder.
"Well I-I just, uhm." Really — it was like a scene straight out of Renzou's romance manga's. The sun shining brightly, an oblivious but sweet boy. A nervous but pretty girl, they just needed sakura petals fluttering down like gentle rain to make it perfect.
Ryuuji could've puked all his food up in disgust, but then that would mean he sinfully wasted the beautiful breakfast Rin had made for him.

"They're gone…" someone points out — Ryuuji isn't sure who. Too preoccupied with arranging Rin's arms and legs in his grasp to carry the halfling back to their tent. But when he cautiously checks, the hellhounds have retreated back into the shadows, no trace of them ever having been there, save for paw prints imprinted in the dirt.
"Cause of Rin!" Nee chirps along with Shiemi's enthusiasm, "did you see the way they bowed?"
"Yeah." Renzou nods, somewhere between shaky and awed. "It's like— that was…"
"He was like a Baal." Izumo murmurs, crossing her arms over her chest. Her rounded eyebrows are pinched as she recalled the scene from mere moments ago and felt her heart thump in her chest. Her body was reacting as it was supposed to when in the presence of something powerful, something dangerous.
But it was Rin, wasn't it?
Silly, stupid, kind, protective Rin.

Or, 5 times the exwires remembered Rin was a demon, +1 they realized they didn’t care.

When Shiro was the Paladin, there were certain liberties granted to Yukio. Nothing crazy, like promotions or access to things he shouldn’t have access to. Mostly just days off when normally he wouldn’t be allowed them. And, boy, did he take a lot of days off. Not for leisure, not even once. All of them were because his weak immune system had failed him once again and he ended up bedridden with something or other.
He doesn’t find out until a couple months after Shiro has been replaced that that isn’t something all Exorcists were given. No, just him, and just because his father was the Paladin.
Yukio has caught something again, probably just some mild case of the flu. It is the season. Except, it isn’t mild for Yukio. His head is spinning, he’s vomited twice in the hour since he’s been awake, every part of his body feels heavy and deeply achy, he can’t breathe through his nose, and whenever he manages to send himself into a coughing fit, which is entirely too easy to do, it leaves his throat and lungs burning and without air.

His fingers drag across Ryuuji's body, tracing spots that made him shiver or wiggle because they were sensitive. (He dreaded the wicked grin Rin gave him when he discovered that on his upper ribs he was ticklish.) asked curiously about a few more scars from childhood and growled at the ones from recent days that were given thanks to youkai and/or demons.
By the end of it, Ryuuji feels thoroughly exposed and raw. But in the most devoted of ways.
