Summary:

Lollipop talks with an old friend, of sorts.
---
So I'm the first Exorcism at 1600 Penn work, huh? The woman who wrote this comic is also writing the SMILE comic that's releasing this month, so yeaah you should read it. I really wanted to write Kezra’gan because he sorta gives off Lollipop energy in some of the comic covers, lmao goofy ahh. But he also seems a lot more serious in overall tone, idk they 'might' be friends.

Takes place during the first Smile and before the events of Exorcism at 1600 Penn. And yeah I couldn't resist adding Laurapop into this I'm sorry, they're my comfort ship.

Work Text:

Lollipop is walking through the vast rocky hell field, which is located…. Somewhere within the vast spiritual realm, separated from reality. It’s physical to a certain degree, but not entirely bound by scientific laws. This was where the averagely evil soul was sent after death, forced to wander aimlessly, possibly encountering demons and warfare-esque traps.

His form is the same as when he appeared to his victims, with the exception of long Black claws and hooven goat feet.

While he’s currently attached to Rose Cotter, he doesn’t spend every waking second with his victims. That would be tedious and to be honest, rather awkward, with all the physical things humans had to deal with. Like using the bathroom and such.

Besides, he had just caused Rose to make a scene at her nephew’s birthday party and now she was being treated at the hospital. He could let things play out for a bit without any influence for a bit.

As he trots along he senses… observation. Eyes looking at him, but not in a physical sense.

He pauses in his steps slightly, before coming to a complete halt. Turning around, he’s aware of two demons of smaller stature who are just staring at him.

Gawking more like.

“What.” he grumbles, despite already knowing. A higher ranking dominion angel like him having fallen was an incredibly rare sight. The vast majority of all demons were principalities and under, the lowest rankings of angels.

He guesses some of that raw power still somewhat radiates off of him, even if it’s been heavily diluted…

“Stop staring at me…” He says shoo-ing at them with a long arm. “Go on, get outta here!”

The smaller entities listen to his demands and hurriedly scamper away, to which he just rolls his eyes in response. If this wasn’t the reaction he got from other demons, it was disdain and judgement. For some reason.

Continuing to slog along, he lets his mind blank out before deciding to hum one of his favorite Earth pop songs.

“You can stand under my umbrella—ella—ella, ay, ay, ay-”

Well…

Admittedly that was probably the reason he wasn’t well liked.

Soon in the distance, he recognizes a familiar sight. Not visually though, but again, one can just sense these things here.

Actually perking up, he sort of teleports forwards the figure as a means of approaching in a quicker manner.

“Kezra’gan?” he says eagerly as he appears in front of him. The large pointed horns curving upward and outwards confirm this. Kezra’gan was something like a friend to Lollipop… While he probably also found his interest in human culture to be strange, he at least didn’t belittle him about it.

The more skeletal demon who’s cloaked in a Red robe looks at him with some surprise. He was one of the very few demons who sometimes donned clothing, even if it was just a robe.

“Smiles???” He says “Smiles, I haven’t seen you in a half a century!”

That was his original nickname, the one he’d had for eons. It was only recently that Laura Weaver had called him “Lollipop” in a fit of rage and he had found it a little funny.

“Oh… Lollipop..?” The other demon says curiously with a slight tilt of his head. Language wasn’t always necessary to communicate here and he’s able to just sense the new name.

Huh. So apparently he had taken a liking to it… Thinking quickly, he has to explain it on the spot.

“Er yeah. Because I… well you know…” He makes the motion of pulling his mouth apart and pointing down his gaping maw. Kezra’gan nods.

“So you’re possessing and taking people now? That’s great! What are your means of influence?”

It takes him a second for the question to sink in.

“Oh well, I do the uhh, curse thing.” He begins, feeling rather awkward since he’s never had the opportunity to share anything he’s done before. “I had a chain going back in Brazil until it broke, then I had to start over.”

There was also that supermodel thing he had invaded back in 05, but he feels like Kezra’gan would likely find that to be weird, so he keeps it to himself.

“Yeah but… have you used any… well, recent advancements?”

Lollipop thinks he knows what he’s referring to. Demonkind had made some very recent developments in regards to communing with the physical realm.

“You mean Abbadon’s A.I. shit? No, I hate that garbage. Fucking clankers.” He murmurs, feeling pretty certain that the skeletal demon felt similarly.

“It’s so….limiting…” he confirms. “I’m fine with phones and social media influence, but… speaking through a chat bot?”

The idea of communicating through a strict code is baffling to them to say the least. Even a Ouija board allowed for more freedom to say whatever.

And while A.I. was much more discreet, Lollipop liked for humans to know and see what he was, as it caused so much more fear and trauma. Of course he knows the reason for this. It’s the same reason why Ouija boards were no longer popular.

“...They really don’t believe we exist anymore huh?”

“Evidently not. Fucking idiots.” Kezra’gan scoffs. 16% of the world’s population no longer believed in any spiritual world and that number was only rising.

That was supposed to be a good thing, but it kind of wasn’t for demons like them who liked to show off and be explicitly supernatural. While Lollipop doesn’t mind being mistaken for a mental health issue at first, finally revealing himself was truly his favorite part.

The two both just stand there for a second, their attention being drawn to some creature in the distance gliding across the Red sky. Speaking of idiots…

“I’m currently in America.” The multi-mawed demon adds.

“Yes, Americans are stupid. I do think that’s where I’m going to go...”

This peaks Lollipop’s interest. He knows that Kezra’gan had been ‘banished’ some time ago, divinely forbidden from interacting with Earth but he’s pretty sure the restriction had ended.

“What victim are you gonna find?” he asks.

“I don’t know yet but it should be someone important…close to the government. That way I can have some serious influence.”

“That’s a good idea.”

“Just possessing the president feels too obvious… besides most presidents are believers too, no? It might not even be a viable option.” He rambles before deciding to switch focus. “Hm, and you-?”

“My most recent kill is this quiet college girl.” he blurts out, in an almost giddy manner.

Kezra’gan just swivels his cloaked head towards him in apparent curiosity.

“Yeah? What'd you do to the little whore?”

“Oh! She’s not a wh…” the words fall out of his maw before he even thinks it, and he stops the second he realizes what he’s saying.

What the fuck. Why did he say that???

The other demon gives him a clearly baffled look, and he scrambles to cover it up.

“No I mean-she’s…I meant she’s one of those really goodie good wholesome types you know? I slit her throat…”

That wasn’t really true. Laura Weaver was quite snarky when she wanted to be.

As he nervously waits for a response he ponders how curious it was to lie to his own kind.

Kezra’gan’s Red pupils look him over and for a second, he expects the worst. But he just radiates a silent sigh before responding.

“You sure are a strange one… Lollipop…”

Notes:

Yeah Kezra’gan calls someone a whore multiple times in the comic, so I had to include it here, lmaooo
