Work Text:
"Robin," Nancy huffs, "why are you hiding in the closet?" And Nancy hears it as she says it.
"My parents…" Robin says, by way of explanation.
It's not like this is the first time they've had this conversation. They've had it a million times. It doesn't make it easier. But her parents are here, they're right out there in the living room, and Robin is finally going to tell them about her and Nancy, about herself. Nancy isn't just a roommate—she's the love of her life.
"Steve's here, too," Nancy tells her, crouching down to her level.
She sees when this soothes Robin. Steve's her best friend, her comfort place. And also the person who might be helping them have a baby together, but that's farther down the line. Though, not too far down the line.
"I love you, Nance," Robin tells her, voice so soft.
Nancy pulls her into her chest. "I dare you to get up and out there," she says, just the hint of a smirk.
"Ugh! Nancy! You know how I am with challenges."
Nancy snorts. "Yep! Now, up and at 'em."
Robin lets herself be hauled up. "Fine," Robin scrunches her face up cutely. "But I'm not happy about it."
"I know, I know," Nancy concedes. "But…it's our future, you know?"
Robin nods. "I know." She kisses Nancy quickly on the forehead and the step out into the living room, together.
