Work Text:

How does this keep happening? Dr. Robby wondered. This is twice now that he’s essentially adopted a doctor from his hospital. First was Frank, his sweet little troublemaker. Now, without even knowing the kid for a month, he found himself taking care of a regressed Dennis Whittaker.

The young doctor was currently in his backseat headed home from the hospital.

It had been a long shift and everyone was tired. Dr. Robby had been about to head out when Frank went up to him and told him he’d found Whitaker in an empty supply closet with his thumb in his mouth. Robby quickly made his way to the closet and easily got Dennis to admit to regressing but not having a caregiver.

“Well we can’t have that, now can we?” He’d said. So, after making sure Frank would be okay for the night (he was going home with Dana), Robby buckled Dennis into the backseat of his car.

“You don’t have to take care of me, Dr. Robby,” he tried to insist.

“Nonsense. And leave a toddler all alone?”

As doctors, of course they knew about age regression. Yet…

“How did you know I’m a toddler?”

“You’re not the first regressor I’ve taken care of. I don’t mean a patient either.”

Dennis frowned confused before realizing, “Dr. Langdon? That makes a lot of sense now.”

Robby chuckled as he pulled into the driveway. “Come on, kiddo. Let’s go inside and get you taken care of. Let me guess...chicken nuggets?” He grinned at Dennis’s little smile. “Frank loves them too. I’ll never understand how that kid gets ketchup in his hair.” Robby rolled his eyes at the memory. Unfortunately, he couldn’t even say it only happened once. At least 5 times.

Robby turned the oven on to preheat. “Bath or shower?”

“Um....” Dennis blushed. “A bath please?”

“Sure.” Robby held a hand out. “Come on, buddy. You can tell me more about your little self.”

Dennis took the older doctor’s hands, smiling shyly. “Thank you, Dr. Robby.”

“Anytime, kiddo.”
