Silent Night, Starry Light

Summary:

Part 4 of Under The Moon’s Gaze series.

Earth was changing, and Lunar didn’t like it. Even after telling her his thoughts on killing Night, she was still considering it. What happens when the former enemy is the one saving him from someone who he thought was his friend? And what if the actions of his supposed friend creates a rift in their friend group?

Notes:

The fourth and final entry into my 'Under The Moon's Gaze' series. Thank you everyone who has read and commented on the previous three entries. I sincerely hope y'all enjoy this entry just as much as the last three. Although the series itself is coming to an end, I still have some one-shot ideas set in the same universe, as well as some future fic ideas i wish to write. I hope y'all will enjoy those as well!

Now, without further ado, onto the story!

Chapter 1: Conflicted Feelings

Chapter Text

“Do we HAVE to go down there again?” Lunar whined, dragging his feet as he and Earth made their way down to Parts and Service.

“Mars wants to talk to us about Night again….” Earth said, looking down at him. Lunar whined again, earning a giggle from Earth as they reached their destination.

“Alright, now to just- Ah, there you two are!” Mars said as they entered, walking over to them. Night looked up from where he sat in front of the computer, watching them silently.

“You said you wanted to talk to us? About…. Him?” Earth asked, gesturing towards Night.\

“Ah, yes, well….. let’s talk over here, shall we?” Mars said, leading Earth and Lunar to the other side of the room after informing Night that they were sidebaring. Earth and Lunar shared a confused look as they followed him.

“Sooooo…… what’s up my guy?” Lunar asked, looking up at Mars and placing his hands on his hips.

“Well…. It’s about what to do with Night…. I’m still unsure of where to put him….. He’s not been a threat since we reset his body….” Mars said, adjusting his glasses. Earth’s expression slowly changed, turning emotionless and slightly cold.

“I’ll be completely honest Mars: I think we need to get rid of him….” She said, crossing her arms. Mars and Lunar looked at he in slight shock.

“Earth, I know you don’t like him, but let’s not be rash….” Mars stated, trying to reason with his sister.

“Mars, he’s hurt so many people…. He’s killed children…. I don’t care if he supposedly had some sort of ‘brain fog’ and is supposedly fixed now, he is a danger and needs to go, one way or another….” Earth said, narrowing her eyes as she glanced in Night’s direction. Lunar felt something twist in his mechanical guts. Earth had always been so friendly and kind; she had never acted like this before. It made Lunar uncomfortable and he quickly started trying to figure out a way to change the conversation.

“H-Hey uh, let’s not d-do anything crazy! Yeah, Night did some bad stuff and I a-agree we should be cautious, but l-like Mars said, N-Night hasn’t hurt anyone or done anything bad since he was fixed…. I-I’m sure we can figure out s-something less…. Drastic?” Lunar suggested, shrugging with a nervous smile. Earth turned her attention to him, then looked at Mars and huffed.

“Whatever…. It’s late, I’m going to bed…..” she answered a bit snippily, turning and leaving Parts and Service. Lunar and Mars shared a concerned look before deciding to to end the conversation and head their separate ways for the night.

Lunar tossed and turned, whining as he sat up. He thought moving from his hammock to his couch would help him fall asleep, but it didn’t as Earth’s earlier attitude and words kept rolling around in his head. It had been so unlike her, and it concerned him.

Maybe….. Maybe I should check on Night…. I know he probably heard what Earth said…. Yeah, I should go see how he’s doing and apologize for what happened…. Lunar thought, slowly getting up and making his way out of his room. What was the worst that could happen?
