Shang Qinghua is scurrying behind his king as usual when he pauses and Shang Qinghua smacks right into his back. They're at yet another banquet, Shang Qinghua dressed in Mobei clan blues to show his allegiance. This is the first of many banquets they'll be hosting over the next month. "What is it, my king?" Shang Qinghua stutters out, backing away to stand at an appropriate distance. He twists to see his king's face and sees him staring at a pair of demons with large white wings. Demons from the Dovian clan. Shang Qinghua had invented them to look somewhat like angels though they acted more like birds. A perfect example of their more bird-like culture is what his king is staring at. One of the demons is dancing in front of the other. The dancing must look incredibly strange to his king who's used to more traditional forms of dance. Dovian dancing was based on kpop choreography from his first life. Peerless cucumber's rant when he'd realized that the dance he'd described the new wife doing was just Twice choreography had been hilarious.
"Ah, my king, that is Dovian dancing. They do it as part of their courtship process. If the other dances back they'll begin a formal courtship." Shang Qinghua explains. Just as he says it the other begins to dance. SHang QInghua feels quite nostalgic at the sight.
Shang Qinghua doesn't think of the conversation again all week. He's at the final banquet when it comes up again. There's quite a few Dovian's speaking to his king before his king walks right up to him. Before he can ask what his king needs his king bursts into dance. It takes everything in Shnag Qinghua not to burst out laughing as he watches his still quite stoic king hit a frankly pretty good rendition of Thunderous by Stray Kids to the soft ancient music of the banquet.
Shang Qinghua is extremely confused at why his king is dancing at him but as he feels all the eyes on them he decides that rejecting his king public ally is probably not what he wants so Shang Qinghua decides to match his king and dance the same dance, a sign of extreme interest in Dovian culture. As they dance in sync he spots his king smiling.
