Stranger Things Season 4 Re-Write

Summary:

Exactly what it sounds like. This is my version of Stranger Things Season 4.
*The plot will not make sense if you don't read my season 3 re-write. I ended up changing quite a bit.
*Please check the author's note at the beginning for updated character information since I changed the ages of most of the characters.
*I will try to update the fic at least twice a week if I can.

Notes:

Ages have been slightly adjusted. Eddie is only a year older than Chrissy. He was held back his freshman year. Eddie and Chrissy are in their junior year of high school during this season. Robin, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, and Billy are all in their senior year of high school this season. Max, Eleven, Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas are all in their freshman year of high school this season. Erica is in her 8th grade year and Holly is in her 7th even though the two of them are the same age. This series is rated teen for language, violence, mentions/portrayals of mental disorders, and abuse. I don't write smut.
All that being said, I hope you enjoy the fic.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

September 8, 1979

Dr. Brenner prided himself in being methodical and precise. Everything had its place and he liked it that way.

He got his paper at the same time every morning, made his tea the same way, had the same breakfast, and always checked to make sure his watch was running as it should.

He kept Hawkin’s Lab in the same sanitized routine as well.

He had 001, better known as teenager Henry Creel, train with the newer kids. The ones with the safer abilities or the ones who didn't show signs of theirs yet.

Meanwhile, Brenner would work on developing the higher-level skills.

Today he was working on developing psychic abilities with 010.

“Are you ready for more lessons?” Dr. Brenner asked the child.

He responded by focusing on a magic 8-ball and turning to reveal “all signs point to yes.”

“Very good. I want you to tell me what I am drawing,” Brenner replied as he picked up a pen and began drawing on his pad of paper.

“It's a flower,” the boy said before he even put down the first petal.

“Which kind of flower?”

“A daisy.”

Brenner smiled. He had gotten it correct.

“Can you see what Dr. Ellis and 006 are doing in the other room?”

010 nodded and closed his eyes. “They're doing an experiment with-”

He began hyperventilating.

“What's wrong?” Dr. Brenner asked.

Alarms began blaring throughout the lab.

“Dr. Ellis and 006. They're dead,” 010 finally replied.

The door to the room that 010 and Dr. Brenner were in began to rattle and flew across the room, landing on top of Dr. Brenner and knocking him out.

When he awoke, the sirens were still blaring, and he was horrified to see 010 lying in a heap on the ground.

He rushed to the Rainbow Room as quickly as he could. He couldn't lose any more experiments today.

The once white tiles of the Rainbow Room were now splattered with red.

A hole had been punched through the glass screen and 001 was gone. He wasn't dead with the other kids on the ground. He was just gone.

Only one experiment remained in the room.

She turned around to face him, her eyes dripping with blood.

Experiment 011 was the only one remaining in the now blood-stained Rainbow Room.

Notes:

I'm back! I'm so sorry to keep y'all waiting for this long. I did not mean for this to happen, but I had a lot of re-writing to do with the changes I made to season 3 as well as figuring out how I wanted to approach the character of Vecna. But I am very happy to be writing again. As said in the summary for this fic, I plan on updating at least twice a week. There are no set dates for when I'll post new chapters. I know I posted an update every day on the last one, but that took a lot out of me. I may still do multiple days in a row if I have the chapters ready or I may post at the beginning and end of the week. It just depends on how much I have done and how I feel about what I've written. I hope y'all are ready though because I have quite a few surprises up my sleeve for this fic. Thank you for the support on the previous fic. It means so much to me. I read those comments every day. I hope you enjoyed this little prologue. I hope you have a great day/night and I'll see you in the next chapter.
