*I will wear you down in time*
“I never stopped liking you. I wish I could have anyway, It would’ve been easier.” He said, his voice wavering around the two.
See, Justine and Tegs were always a unique pair. They held each others secrets as if they were something sacred; fragile almost. Their bond was remarkable to say the least. If Tegs ever spoke about it to anyone he would only be called ‘melodramatic,’ so he kept it to himself. Close to his heart, of course. He knew Justine never felt the same way, but he just couldn’t shake the feeling. It was as if desire and dread wrapped themselves around his throat. She plagued his mind at all hours of the day.
“Look, I better go— if that bloke comes out, I don't want to cause you any problems… Still. Could always say I was your little brother.” He mumbled. The words felt like acid as he held back a sniffle. He stood up from the rough, old wall they were sat on, his eyes slightly glossy as he avoided her gaze for a second.
The cold air around them felt as if it had gone still for a second— the moment frozen in time. The distant music from the party above rung out through the block of flats. God, he felt pathetic. Couldn't stand the idea of leaving Justine here, this place was vile. Forgotten words and blood loss embedded itself into every corner of the city. Never truly at peace, never really quiet. It truly was poetic.. well if it was written by a tortured college literature student who had just had her heart broken for the hundredth time this term.
He brought himself to look Justine in the eye after a while, years of words left untold, finally becoming practically visible. The boy leant in for a second, almost as if what he wanted all along was right there in front of him; and to be quite honest, it was. No— what was he thinking. He huffed out a shallow breath, turning on his heel and quickly walking off before he actually did something stupid. Something so incredibly reckless that not even Tegs himself could justify its strange nature.
But— just before he could disappear into the unforgiving nightlife of London— Justine ran after him. Tears spilled from her eyes as she followed closely behind the rugged boy, immediately wrapping her arms around him. The years of fine-spun memories practically suffocated the two. The earrings, the notes, she even taught him how to read.
