For their monthly date, they opt for going to see a movie this time — something about haunted animatronics that Zoey insisted on going.
"I used to love the games when I was a kid! Well, I also couldn't use the bathroom in the middle of the night for a while out of fear Freddy would be there, but they're so fun!" She rambles as they're getting settled on their seats.
"You're afraid of little animal robots?" Mira teases.
"I'm not anymore, but it's scarier than it sounds like, okay?!" Zoey playfully pokes Mira's forehead.
"Or you were just a whiny little baby when you were a kid." Mira returns the poking.
"You guys cut it off, it's starting," Rumi shushes from between them, grabbing both of their hands.
Turns out Mira screamed the entire movie, and Rumi ended up switching places with her so she could sit between her and Zoey.
"It's okay, I'm never letting any haunted animatronics near you," Zoey coos while rubbing Mira's back.
"They're kinda cute though!" Rumi comments. "I feel bad for them."
"Those poor kids…" Mira stares into the void.
"Awn, come here." Rumi pulls Mira into her chest.
"I'll show you a bunch of fluffy fanfics where they're having fun and being happily ever after, okay?" Zoey consoles as they start moving again.
They planned to stop at a nearby diner for food, but as they're walking, Rumi sees a minivan stopping suspiciously at their side of the sidewalk — the same van she's seen as they were leaving the theater.
"Girls, wait." She protectively raises her arms in front of her girls. "Look." She points at the minivan with her head. "I think it's following us."
Mira and Zoey spot the vehicle.
"You think they're gonna try something?" Zoey tilts her head.
"Maybe. Or they could just be fans wanting to chat," Rumi considers.
"Why don't we wait and see?" Mira suggests. "We don't have anything important to do today." She shrugs.
"Oh! We'd get to escape bad guys!" Zoey jumps in place a few times while clapping her hands.
Rumi stares at her for a moment — that's definitely a bad idea, but…
"That could be fun!" She admits. They've been fighting creatures far more dangerous than humans for years already, it's not like they can actually get hurt.
"Heck, yeah!" Zoey exclaims. "We don't get to beat up actual humans often!" She punches the air for emphasis.
"Let's do this then!" Rumi smiles and they keep walking, pretending that she didn't notice the vehicle.
As expected, the door of the vehicle opens as they walk past it, and a group of men grabs them and pulls them to the back of the van.
They're in the van for about an hour, trying not to giggle in excitement the entire time, before they arrive to a remote street, where they're taken inside a big and abandoned looking house and locked up in the attic.
"As long as you do as we say, no one gets hurt," one of the men declares, moving them around while holding a pair of handcuffs.
"No one? Are you sure?" Mira teases, the grin in her voice almost unnoticeable for those who don't know how to look for it.
"Are you inisuating something?!" The man points a knife at her.
"Of course not!" Rumi exclaims in pretend fear. "We'll be good captives, we promise!"
"Yes! We'll be so good!" Zoey adds. "Please don't hurt us!" She gives him her best kicked puppy look.
The man groans in frustration.
"Stay still!" He orders.
He takes the handcuffs and cuffs Rumi and Mira together, and Zoey to one of the low hanging ceiling beams. He then leaves and locked the trapdoor behind him.
"Hehe our first real kidnapping!" Zoey giggles quietly, wiggling around in her restrains.
"What do you think they want us for?" Mira asks, lowering herself and Rumi to the ground so they can lean on to each other's backs.
Rumi turns her ear toward the trapdoor.
"They're saying they're gonna give us time to get scared, then they're gonna make us give them our manager's contact to ask for ransom money," she informs.
"Nice demon hearing." Mira gives her a smile.
"Thank you, I know," Rumi informs proudly.
"Well, for the sake of Bobby let's try to escape before they can call him," Zoey points out. "I don't want him to worry about us.
"Agreed," Rumi nods. "He already deals with a lot for us, let's not freak him out."
"How are we escaping then?" Mira nudges Rumi's shoulder with her own.
"It depends on whether you guys wanna take the easy route or the fun route." Rumi raises her brow, smirking.
"If we wanted to go the easy route, we wouldn't have let them take us in the first place." Zoey rocks in place on her heels.
"Tell us the plan, captain," Mira teases.
"Help!" Rumi screams. "Something's wrong with our friend!"
A different man from before enters the attic.
"Will you shut up or do I have to do it for you?!" He punches the wall.
"Please, help our friend! She just passed out! We don't know what's wrong with her!" Rumi pleads.
"Please, we're just helpless idols who don't know how to handle stressful situations!" Mira fake cries.
The man sighs and walks up to Zoey's limp form hanging from the beam.
"Hey, you, wake up!" He shakes her by the shoulders.
Zoey then "wakes up" from her pretend faint and uses her legs to immobilize the man and knock him down to the ground.
"You two get the key!" She urges, still holding him down under her feet.
Rumi and Mira move together with some difficulty but manage to get the key for the handcuffs in the guy's pocket — of course Rumi's claws could've easily broken them free, but they did opt for the fun route.
They only manage to unlock one pair of them before two other men arrive.
"What's going on here?!" One of them yells, as the other follows holding a broom stick.
Mira looks at Rumi.
"You think we're in synch enough to fight handcuffed to each other?" She grins at her.
"You know it!" Rumi spins and uses the momentum to kick one of the guys in the stomach.
Mira grabs the broom stick from the guy's hands and swings it as if it were her gok-do, knocking the other guy to the floor.
"Stop that!" Someone yells.
Rumi and Mira turn around.
The man Zoey was restraining has subdued her and is holding a knife against her neck.
"You two behave or she gets it!"
The scene of Zoey being held hostage would've been scary — if they didn't knew Zoey.
Dropping the handcuffs around her writs, she grabs the guy's arm, making him drop the knife, and and throws him over herself, sending him to the ground flat on his back.
"Good thing your girl is a lock picker!" Zoey declares, proudly, walking up to Rumi and Mira and throwing her arms around their shoulders.
"Do your wrists feel sore?" Rumi takes Zoey's hand and briefly massages her wrists with her thumbs.
"Nothing some hand cream won't solve," she kisses Rumi's hand.
"What should we do with them?" Mira unlocks the other pair of handcuffs around her and Rumi's wrists.
"I have an idea…" Rumi looks down at the fallen men, placing her hands on her hips.
The men give them a scared look.
They bring the guys downstairs and handcuff them to each others.
"How…? You're just popstars!" One of them yells.
"Awn they have no idea how tough idol training really is," Mira coos.
"Yeah, you better think twice about trying to mess with any other idol in the future." Rumi stares down at them.
"Even the most harmless looking ones can totally kick your butts," Zoey adds with a maniacal smile.
"The police is already on their way, so our job here is done, girls," Rumi announces, turning around and walking toward the door as Mira and Zoey follow her.
They kick off their shoes and plop down on the couch as soon as they step foot into the penthouse.
"That was freaking awesome," Rumi sighs.
"One of my favorite dates yet," Mira agrees.
"Agreed!" Zoey chimes in.
"Are you guys doing okay? Did the handcuffs hurt your writs?" Rumi asks, already grabbing their girls' hands to check them over.
"Nope, just fine," Mira reply.
"I'm all good," Zoey repeats. "Oh, no, you've gotten a bruise though." Zoey checks over Rumi's wrist.
"Oh. I hadn't even noticed," she notes, sincerely.
"I'll get some balm." Mira gets up to grab the med box.
She comes back and applies some balm on Rumi's almost unnoticeable bruised wrist, massaging it in the process.
Rumi presses a thank you kiss on Mira's cheek.
"You two go shower now, I'll order us some food," she instructs, pulling out her phone. "We can change into our pjs and have a slumber party in the living room later."
"Slumber party!" Mira and Zoey exclaim, getting up and following to their rooms.
Rumi takes out her phone to go through the delivery app.
Today was tiring, but a rewarding kind of tiring. A nice break from their usual responsibilities.
Once they're changed in their pjs and with their bellies full of yummy junk food, they gather a bunch of pillows and blankets and stuffed animals to take to the living room, padding the floor and settling down on it.
They get some ice cream from the freezer and turn on an animated movie, something about a robot who ends up raising a goose chick — they don't comment on how Rumi balls her eyes out and snuggles a little closer to her girls.
"Hey, hum…" Zoey scrolls through her phone after a while. "Bobby messaged. Someone took a picture of us being pulled into the van and now everyone kinda thinks we went missing."
"What?!" Rumi wipes away the tears from the movie. "That's bad, Zoey! If the fans panic, the Honmoon could weaken!"
"Chill out." Mira lays a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Let's just make a post telling them we're safe."
"But we still have to say something about the picture," Rumi points out.
"We could just stay as close to the truth as possible," Zoey suggests. "Maybe leave out the part where we got kidnapped on purpose, but we can say we got taken and escaped and the police already took care of the kidnappers."
Rumi considers it for a moment.
"Okay, yeah," she sighs. "That works."
They make an instagram story with a video of them laying down in their living room nest, saying they were okay and giving the agreed on public explanation, which resulted in some pretty confused and surprised reactions, but the Honmoon remains unaffected.
After all drama is over, Mira is the first one to fall asleep, waking up a few times saying something about haunted animatronics, and Rumi and Zoey kiss her better and remind her that she's safe and nothing's going to harm her.
Zoey goes next, snoring softly and humming as she pulls Rumi closer and holds her tighter, also reaching out for Mira on Rumi's other side.
Rumi falls asleep last, snuggled in the middle of their cuddle pile. Despite being a very competent and self sufficient warrior, more than capable of protecting herself, it makes her think about how very few things make her feel safer than being in her girls' arms, felling the warmth from their bodies against her own, her patterns glowing softly in response.
