Chapter Text
In this story , Lorelai and Luke are married and Rory is 14 years old and Gigi is 6 .

Chapter 1 : A difficult choice
" I smell snow." shouted Lorelai as she dragged a sleepy Rory and a grumpy Luke out of their beds .
" Mum I want to go back to bed. It is 8 and Sunday is the day of rest . " grumbled Rory as she pushed her mom into the snow .
"OW! " yelled Lorelai as she grabbed a handful of snow and threw it at Rory while screaming snow fight as she and Rory threw as many snowballs as they could at each other laughing and yelling all the while. Luke gave a rare smile as he walked back to the kitchen to make breakfast for Loralai and Rory . He loved seeing how close Lorelai and Rory were and taking care of them.
" Ding dong ! " the doorbell rang revealing a lady with blond hair and light blue eyes . " Good morning .I am Ms Hayden. I am a social worker and I am here to speak to Ms Gilmore."
"Luke honey who is it ? " said Lorelai running to the door as she had heard the doorbell with Rory following her closely behind .
" Good morning Ms Gilmore . I am Ms Hayden . I am sorry to come unannouced. I am with the Connecticut Department of Children and Familes.May I come in ? ''
''Of course . " said Lorelai stepping inside the house with Ms Hayden , Rory and Luke following her into the living room .
In the living room , Luke , Lorelai and Rory sat at the couch with Ms Hayden as she said : c The reason I am here today is regarding Gigi Hayden . We have been trying to reach Christopher Hayden for a few weeks . His current residence is vancet and he has not gone to work for a few weeks . Gigi is now living with her friend and her parents who thankfully have stepped up to take care of her when no one came to pick her up from school a few weeks ago . However , this arrangement is neither legal or sustainable in the long run . Therefore , we would like you Ms Gilmore as you are Gigi's stepmother and her closest relative after Sherry to take care of Gigi until we find her father . Do you agree to this arrangement ? "
" Ms Hayden , could you please give me , Rory and my husband a few minutes to discuss this ? " said Lorelai .
" Of course . Take all the time you need .I will be waiting here ."
Luke , Lorelai and Rory went to the kitchen .
" Alright what should we do now? Should we say yes to taking care of Gigi until Christophor is found ? " said Lorelai .
" Mum , we have to take care of her . She is my step sister . She can't go to foster care ." said Rory her heart filled with guilt for not spending more time with Gigi over the years .
" I agree we should take care of Gigi though I am so tired of cleaning up Christopher messes and this is a really big one . We have to figure out how she fits into our lives and our routine and the house .She would need her own room and the house is too small for that . We don't know when Christopher will be found and that means she could be staying with us for months or even years ." Lorelai said as she paced around the kitchen anxiously .
" Luke what do you think ? Taking care of another kid won't be easy and I know how you feel about Christopher . " asked Lorelai looking at her husband and holding his arm, letting him know that she was ok with whatever he decided .
" I will forever hate Christopher and I can't wait for them to find him so I can kill him with my bare hands for abandoning his daughter . Yes , we must take take care of her but we need to be practical too so I recommend we do a one month trial before making any big plans such as her staying long term or expanding the house . " said Luke .
Both Lorelai and Rory agreed to what he said so now it was time to tell Ms Hayden .
" Ms Hayden ,we have made our decision " said Lorelai as she , Rory and Luke accompanied her into the living room.
"Alright What is it ? " asked Ms Hayden as she took out a notebook to take notes down .
"We have decided to take care of Gigi for a month trial . After a month, if Christopher is not found , we would then make futher decisions on weather we can afford to keep her on long term ." said Lorelai .
"OK ! I will be able to bring Gigi over next Monday at 4pm . Is that ok for you ? ."
" Yes . We will be home then . " said Lorelai .
" Good . I will be leaving now . " said Ms Hayden.
" Goodbye ." said Lorelai , Luke and Rory .
The rest of the day was spent getting stuff for Gigi.They got her a bed, which they placed in Rory's room; a beautiful dollhouse and several pretty dolls and their clothes; a colouring book; a box full of storybooks and fairy tales; and a wooden desk and chair so that she could do her homework and colour and draw on the table. Now all they had to do was wait for Gigi to arrive on Monday at 4 pm.
