Work Text:

“It can't possibly get worse can it?” Hyunjin groaned, dragging a hand through his sopping wet hair.
The wind, the clouds, the rain, even the mud he treaded on decided to team up against him.
Everything about him was soaked, ok maybe not the eyes, and the fringe of his trousers— that was coated in mud.
and then his bottle slipped from his grip, his oh so beloved metal water bottle Seungmin had given him.
It hit the floor with a terrifyingly loud ‘clang’
Ouch.
Oh how Hyunjin would love nothing more to fall face flat on the concrete pavement and soak the soaked porous surface with his river of tears.
“My 1 year anniversary gift.” He lamented, his lips quivering as he bent down to pick it up.
“Hyung?”
Hyunjin whipped his head up so fast it gave him whiplash.
There he was, his beautiful, beautiful Seungmin, glowing under the refracted light shining through the silver threads showering down, holding an umbrella to shield the older.
“Seungmin-ah!!” Hyunjin jumped up, leaping onto his lover.
And that laugh, oh that laugh. The one that could heal broken hearts and salvage the last of someone's will to live. That was a bit of a stretch there but it certainly did save Hyunjin's.
“What's wrong?” Seungmin, stroked Hyunjin's soggy strands. “Got soaked in the rain?”
“It's worse than that…” Hyunjin mumbled against the younger man's shoulder. “I dropped the bottle you gave me for our first anniversary…”
Snuggling against the dry warmth of Seungmin's wrinkled cotton shirt, the older couldn't help but think this is where he was meant to be— safe and warm in the arms of the love of his life.
“Are you mad?”
“mm-mm, no I'm not.” Seungmin pressed a kiss on Hyunjin's temple.
“It's just a bottle, why do I have to be mad? C'mon let's go home.”
“But I'm already home.” Hyunjin grinned up at Seungmin, he got a smack on the head.
As much as I'd like to agree you need a shower and a change of clothes, you're washing those trousers yourself.”
“Awh, I thought you wouldn't notice.”
“I notice everything about you Hyung, now stop clinging to me like an overgrown weed, let's go home.” Hyunjin's face flushed brightly, caught off guard as he jolted up, “ Seung-ah, you can't just say that so suddenly, give a man some warning!” Hyunjin babbled, stuttering steps stumbling after the very centre of his world.
The comforting scent of home washed over him as he stepped through the front door, everything was in place, the throw pillows snug in the corners of their loveseat, the blanket lay across just right. The linoleum floor still had scratches from when they dropped their forks, the shoe cabinet base panel bending under the weight of the shoes. Everything was perfect, comfortable, home.
“Go on, run the shower, I'll get you some hot cocoa.”
“Huu, that's nice.” Hyunjin trudged downstairs, rubbing his hair with a towel.
‘ooh a flower petal! another one, oh! and another, and another, and another, and… What's going on?’
A pair of slippers were in full view, fluffy purple slippers that he identified as Seungmin's.
“Seungmin-ah?” Hyunjin lifted his gaze, where the wrapping paper rustled around Seungmin's hand grip.
Roses and Carnations, tenderness and fascination.
“What time is it now?” Hyunjin wondered, stepping closer with a grin, “Oh right! it's time to love you even more.”
“Thank you, baby. Happy Valentine's day.”
Hyunjin took the flowers, pressing a kiss to Seungmin's lips.
He was home, because where Seungmin is— he'll be home.
