A letter to him:
Cinder. the leftovers of what used to be a fire.
ash. the remnants of wood burnt by a flame.
Dead. Is our love for each other.
I love you, I still do. for the longest time I believed you did too. But the spark in your eyes faded each time you looked at me, and when you looked at her... I realised you've never looked at me that way. There was so much love in your eyes, too much for my liking.
Even as you were holding my hand, your eyes, those eyes were glued to her following her every move. In appreciation, in awe, in love
I'm always cleaning up the traces of soot we left behind with each step, because I was desperate.
Desperate for you to still love me the way I do.
Desperate for you to look at me once again with so much as a hint of affection.
Desperate for you to break my heart early on so I didn't need to suffer, watching you love on her.
Sweeping whatever embers that jumped out of the flame back. Because I didn't want our spark to die.
Dying, was my heart.
Drying, my tears.
Driving, off a cliff.
Diving, deep into the marina trench.
Drinking, my woes off.
Dimming, the light in my eyes.
Dye, my hair like hers.
Dry, the flooded bathroom floor.
Drive, to cut myself.
Dive, into my misery.
Drink, the tears falling through my lips.
Dim, is the lighting.
I'm too chicken to break up with you in real life, so I have to do it in this letter.
I love you, but you've never been mine.
Go and love someone you truly love and who truly loves you back.
Goodbye Hyunjin, I'll see you in another life.
