“You can read mine if you’d like,” Caitlyn said. “It doesn’t have to be much either.” She watched Vi turn back to the very first page. “I just want it to be… like a conversation. Natural. Not a legal document or a formal address, just something…” She bit her lip as Vi looked at her. “Something from you.”
Even a fool could sense that shift. Caitlyn was beginning to doubt herself again.
Vi offered her wife a smile; it was anyone’s guess if her jokes landed with Caitlyn when she started to worry like this. “I’ve got this covered,” she said, nodding to the journal. “It’ll be from me. Informal and conversational, I promise.”
“Really? I mean, are you sure? I can walk you through what I wrote if that’d help.”
Shaking her head, Vi looked back at Caitlyn. “It’s fine, I gotta figure some stuff out on my own. Go, do what you gotta do, I’ll see how far I get. Don’t worry, they’re gonna know they’re loved.”
