As Sand and Ray walked slowly around the quiet city, their hands interlinked, Ray stops in his trace and looks over at some bring glowing lights across the road.
“what is it?” Sand turned to him confused.
“Look over there, should we have a look inside?” Ray pointed over to the illuminated arcade that drew his attention closer, almost as if he was being hypnotised.
“fine, but if we walk out of there with no money left i’m blaming you” Sand joked as they crossed the road, stepping closer to the blaring sounds escaping the entrance doors.
“deal.” Ray shot back.
As they stepped inside, they were immediately overwhelmed with bright lights, speakers and machines making prompting noises but it only added to the thrill of their new date.
“let’s check that out” Ray suggested before reclaiming his position in Sand’s palm and dragging him over to a 2 player game. A little while passed and the both of them were already releasing their competitive sides after each game. First it was Mario Kart, then a game of air hockey, then they swiftly sat in a zombie shooting booth game and finished with a game of snooker - which Sans absolutely dominated Ray in.
“No fair, you cheated!” Ray exclaimed, refusing to accept defeat.
“How? did i hit the ball at an angle you aren’t comfortable with?” Sand teased with a grin.
“shut up…cheater.” Ray mocked in a light tone, clearly not actually mad, just stubborn.
“Here how about i make it up to you? I will try win you something” His eyes redirected to a claw machine across from them, Rays later following his to look at the towering machine.
They both walked over to it and put a coin in and pressed start.
“what do you want?” Sand asked while Ray examined the plushies a the bottom.
“that one” Ray pointed through the glass at two cat plushies, one orange and the other black, that were conveniently on top of each other that could probably both fit into the claw above them.
Sand moved the joy sticks and redirected the claw on top of them and lowered it to try and catch the plushies. Unfortunately perception of direction was not Sands forte and he just scrape the plushies side, missing completely.
“were you even trying?” Ray spoke while holding back a laugh.
“why don’t you try then smartass?” Sand joked with no actual grudge, they had a weird way of insulting each other but never took it to heart.
“fine, i will” Ray said with a smirk, way too confident only to end up embarrassing himself as-well. He angled the claw and attempted to grab the plushies but only caught the head before it fell back into place.
“see, i told you it was difficult!” Sand rubbed it in, almost in a mocking tone.
Ray just gave him a glare and stepped aside to let him try again. “whatever.”
Sand attempted a couple more times, at one point he almost got them but they slipped off the claw and hopelessly fell back down. “It’s getting late we should probably head back now, unfortunately we might have to leave our furry companions behind” he joked looking down at the two plushies practically begging to be released.
“Can you try one more time please Sand, na naa?” Ray begged with big shining eyes that were impossible to say no to.
“Fine, don’t get too excited, i can’t promise anything” Sand put in their last coin and moved the claw precisely over the intimidated kittens underneath before dropping it onto them. With whatever luck they picked up seemed to work as the claw grabbed the both of them before making its way over to the dispenser before dropping them both down.
Rays eyes widened slightly and a smile perked up onto his glowy face. “you did it!” he put his arms around him and shoved his weight onto his until Sand bent down and grabbed both of the plushies, freeing them from their incubated area, before giving the orange one to Ray.
“This one reminds me of you” Rays hand glided over his which caused his face to heat up a little more especially after the casual odd compliment.
“Thank you…” Ray spoke softly before giving his boyfriend a quick kiss on the cheek as an extra gesture of appreciation.
Sand melted at the unexpected change in demeanour from Ray, seeing him this happy and grateful over something this little made his heart flutter in awe.
“uh..yeah…let’s head back now” Sand mumbled before taking his hand and leaving the arcade, Rays little public gestures always made his mind go completely blank.
Ray just smiled and let himself get pulled along before they finally synced back into their slow walk through the city, with their extra companions accompanying them in their free hand while the other was interlinked together.
“you know what these are actually pretty cute” Sand spoke up while looking at the black cat plush.
“Not as cute as you” Ray fired back trying to be flirty but giggled half way through.
“shut up, or the cat might start flirting back” Sand looked down at him, bringing the cat to his eye view.
“what? does the cat find me good looking now?” he joked at how stupid that sounded.
Before he could get another word out Sand just pecked the plush at his face multiple times, acting as if the cat was actually kissing all over his face. “very good looking.”
Rays laughter filled the streets as he tried to move his face away but it was no use, the cat was glued to him and it felt oddly familiar. In defence he brung up his plush and started gently attacking back at Sand but they were too far gone into this kitten affection war, nevertheless they both found it cute and romantic in their own weird ways.
