Work Text:

While Kant and Bison were going about their day in their shared condo the lights suddenly went out alongside a strike of lightning, the storm must have hit an electricity pole.

Bison shuddered at the sudden change in atmosphere and stayed silent before quietly calling out Kant’s name, fear creeping into his voice.

“Kant? Kant can you hear me?” He slowly walked forward while barely being able to make out where the objects in the room were.

“i’m here” an arm grabbed his which caused him to let out a sudden gasp as he turned around, frozen in place.

“Kant you fucking idiot you scared me!” He scolded while grabbing onto his shoulder tightly as if he can’t feel him he would disappear.

“sorry, i’m only playing” Kant explained with a little chuckle.

“This isn’t the time to joke, it’s scary…” he mumbled the end almost inaudibly.

“scary? seriously? you used to be a hitman that risked your life everyday but find this scary?” Kant asked in disbelief, Bison sure was an odd character.

“i have a fear of the dark, okay?” Bison spoke softly, almost embarrassed at the confession.

“really?” Kant asked curiously.

“Yes, does it sound like this is the time to lie about something stupid like that?” He argued back defending his case.

“alright, alright i get it” Kant deescalated the bickering before Bison got riled up.

They stood there for a couple of seconds before Bison quickly spoke up,

“Can you find something to light up the room? i don’t like this…”

Kant’s heart melted at how genuine Bison sounded, he really must have been scared of the dark.

Kant pulled out his phone and turned on his dim flashlight but it didn’t light up anywhere near enough atmosphere but luckily Kant always had a backup plan.

“Stay here, i have an idea.”

“no no no don’t leave. i’m coming too, i’m not staying in here alone.” Bison declared quickly with a tinge of vulnerability in his tone.

“Fine, follow me.”

Kant led him to the storage cupboard outside the room and grabbed some candles and a lighter. As he closed the cupboard door he felt Bison practically clinging onto him, he could tell he was actually scared so he took hold of his hand and squeezed it tight to remind him he’s with him.

“i’m here, don’t worry” Kant reassured.

Bisons lips flickered into a little smile accompanied by a quick nod.

They make their way back into the room, Kant accidentally walking into a wall in the process which got a little chuckle out of Bison, slowly easing his nerves.

Kant let got of Bison’s hand for a moment to place candles around the room before lighting them and meeting Bisons adorable face.

Kant walked over and all Bison could focus on was how the dim light shone perfectly on Kant’s features.

“i know i’m good looking, no need to stare” Kant playfully smirked at the other.

“shut up…” Bison nudged him softly.

They both sat up on the bed but Kant still noticed Bison still seemed agitated. He carefully placed a hand on his thigh and leaned closer.

“It’s okay, i’m sure the power will turn back on soon.”

“in the meantime…we could do something to take your mind off it? he suggested playfully, his hands roaming across his thigh.

Just as Kant leaned in to kiss him, he was interrupted with a notification from his phone.

“seriously? there couldn’t have been a worse time.” Kant muttered.

“Check it! it might be an update on the power outage” Bison suggested with hope shimmering in his half-lidded eyes.

Kant huffed with disappointment as there previous idea would have to be put on hold. He took his phone from the side table and noticed it was a text from their groupchat.

Heart Burgers

Style

Did the power go out for you guys?

Kant

yeah, Bison is being a wuss and claiming he’s scared of the dark.

Fadel

No he actually is, one time we were closing up late and the electricity went out and he wouldn’t leave me alone the whole time

Kant

Oh, i thought he was joking at first but I’ll look after him, don’t worry.

Fadel

You better. if he comes complaining to me i’ll give you more than just a punch like last time.

Style

Fadel! ignore him Kant. I hope you and Bison enjoy your dark night

“well that sure was interesting.” Kant blurted out, nothing was actually that interesting he was just entertained knowing he still isn’t on Fadel’s good side, but he will get there eventually.

“I’m sure he doesn’t really mean it” Bison added while peeking over his shoulder, reading the texts.

Kant puts his phone down and turns back over to Bison, trying to reignite the spark he had just convinced in Bison but he miserably fails.

He leaves trails down Bisons neck as his hands explore over chest until Bison gently nudges him back.

“i’m sorry i just can’t right now” he told him while sounding slightly irritated with himself for disappointing Kant but it was hard to get in the mood when surrounded by your fear.

Kant sighs and lays down beside him, not mad just a little upset he couldn’t get the sweet taste of Bison right now.

He put an arm around Bison and kept him close to comfort him in the dimly lit room.

“it’s okay, just try get some rest and hopefully the lights will be back on by the time you wake up” Kant suggested.

“okay..” Bison mumbled as he nuzzled close to Kant, taking in his scent that always made him feel tingly.

As soon as Bison started to doze off into his slumber he’s met with a harsh light blinding through his eyelids.

He quickly opens his eyes and relief washes over him, he looks at Kant with a soft smile.

“see, i told you it wouldn’t be long” Kant replied back also smiling when he saw the quick change in expression from Bison.

He collapsed back down onto him and hugged him a little tighter.

“thank you..” Bison hummed quietly.

“for what?” Kant asked confused.

“for staying here with me” he buried his face deeper into his chest.

“it’s practically my duty now anyways” he chuckled and held Bison close to him.

not long later they both fell into a deep slumber with their limbs tangled together, the only noise filling the room was their synced heartbeats and low breathes after the memorable night when Kant found out Bison was scared of the dark, despite being an ex-hitman.
