Work Text:
Three had so much potential and fun ahead of her. She had so much she could have done, so much ahead of her in a way she didn't even know. She could have spent every day of the rest of her life fixing everyone's problems all the time and she would have been so happy. In fact, if it weren't for her, she wouldn't have learned of a life like anything else.
Tell me once again,
I could have been anyone, anyone else,
Before you made the choice for me.
Then, of course, she overhead One talking to themself that night. Three had to follow them, of course.
My feet knew the path,
We walked in the dark, in the dark,
I never gave a single thought to where it might lead.
That night was a night Three would never forget. She had never felt so... happy. She loved fixing everyone's problems, but that was so much more. It was fun, fun between a new friend. Of course, if the power was this much fun with just the two of them, imagine how much fun it would be if everyone had it!
All those empty rooms,
We could have been anywhere, anywhere else
Instead, I made a bed with apathy.
Now, she sits in the very back of the EXIT, a blanket to protect her. If that wasn't enough from the protection Four gives.
My heart knew the weight,
Ten years worth of dust and neglect,
We made our peace with weariness and let it be.
Something had told her maybe speaking up about the power was a bad idea. But she never bothered to listen, and now look at her. But she made peace with the idea it was a bad idea, and did it anyways. She really thought she wouldn't be in danger.
The moon will sing a song for me,
I loved you like the sun.
She had loved those moments more than any other, and yet, she didn't think a moment to care about One in the way they cared about her. She never bothered to think about how they'd feel.
Bore the shadows that you made,
With no light of my own.
Now, Three is simply the results of what they did. She bears all of their mistakes, she is the physical form of them.
I shine only with the light you gave me...
Three now was nothing, when she once was something so valuable. Three was now only what One made of her. A mess. A mistake. Something faulty and unstable.
I shine only with the light you gave me.
