"I blinked and suddenly I had a Valentine.."

They didn't celebrate Valentine's Day in the house of the Spawn, "why have one specific day to express your love for someone when you could do that anytime of the year?" was always Amarah's excuse.
Therefore Two Time had never experienced a traditional Valentine's Day, not any of the gifts or candy, none of the typical affection that came with it, nothing. They didn't mind in the end, they didn't have a lover before Azurewrath arrived, so was there really a point in it?
Azure, however, when he caught news of this, did mind.
"What do you want to do for Valentine's Day, my flower?" he'd asked one morning, sorting through a selection of seeds, re-organizing them for the third time this month. They never stayed organized, not with the way Azure rushed to grab specific packs every morning.
His beloved paused behind him for a moment, a ceramic pot held securely in their arms. "I'm not quite sure," they mumbled, "I've never.. celebrated it."
That was surprising to Azure.
"Really? Never?" he yelped, turning to look at them, eyes wide beneath the shadow of his hat rim. "Not even with a friend?"
"No," they tilted their head, sounding confused when they met his gaze, "Amarah-"
"Uh-uh," he cut them off as soon as that name was mentioned, raising a hand, "I'll give you a proper Valentine's Day, my flower, don't worry about what Amarah says."
He was pointing at them, as if scolding them for something, but his expression was warm. How off, usually Two Time was doing the scolding.
They blinked, fingers twitching around the pot, then slowly nodded. "If that's what you want, I wouldn't mind."
Azure was beaming now, a large smile taking over his face as he turned away again, overly excited for this.
His flower has never celebrated Valentine's Day before, they didn't know what to expect, so he'd make their first Valentine's Day amazing, he swore it to himself.
Two Time had no idea the chaos they were about to unleash.

Two Time was startled awake by their alarm blaring in their ears, shooting up and turning it off as quick as possible, sighing in relief once the noise came to a halt.
They still felt slightly drowsy as they glanced towards the time displayed, rubbing the leftover sleep from their eyes.
February 14th, 6:14 AM.
The bed creaked when they stood, heading off to get ready for the day, like every other morning. However, as they moved through their daily routine, they felt like they were forgetting something...
Must not have been important if the Spawn wiped it from their memory.
🌷
Azure had set his alarm to go off about an hour earlier, which was.. horrible to experience, being a very not morning person.
For Two Time though? They were enduring it. They'd endure anything for Two Time, this was just a small problem.
They carefully adjusted how the petals laid in the bouquet they'd prepared, humming a random tune they couldn't remember the origins of. The walk to Two Time's residence was rather long, they lived on the other side of the village, nestled between Amarah's cabin and another priest.
He stepped up onto the porch, adjusting his hold on the bouquet, and then knocked on the door, bouncing in place.
There was noise on the other side, footsteps, and finally it opened to reveal his beloved. They must have had time to get ready, because their typically unruly hair was combed and styled, with the Spawn pendant hung from around their neck.
"Azure," they greeted with a smile, glancing towards the flowers in his arms with a confused expression.
He chuckled, holding it out to them, watching as they cautiously took his offering. "Happy Valentine's Day, my flower."
He could see the realization in their eyes, a small "oh" escaping their mouth, blushing. "I forgot that was today, thank you," they said, giving him a quick hug, which he eagerly returned.
"Are you ready?"
"Amarah needs me for a-"
"I think Amarah can wait, Nightshade," he said quickly, pulling back just enough to cup their face in his palms, tilting their head up to meet his eyes.
Their eyes narrowed, giving him an unamused look. It only made him laugh. He kissed their forehead, then the tip of their nose, and their cheeks-
"Okay, okay- What do you have planned?" they were giggling, pushing his face away before they got smothered in kisses.
He lit up again hearing them laugh, brushing a stand of black hair behind their ear, grabbing their hand. "Come on, flower! You'll love it."

The activities Azure had planned were fun, Two Time wouldn't deny that, but.. tiring.
By the time they made it to that familiar field full of flowers, they felt like they'd been hit by a bag of bricks, dragging their aching feet, letting Azure carry most of their weight.
He didn't seem to mind, wrapping his arm around their shoulders and giving them a few reassuring squeezes here and there, as they quickly approached the tree standing proudly in the center, tall, the perfect height for messing around.
Amarah would be appalled if they told him, but Two Time has climbed it a few times. It was calm, their favorite spot for reading when things just became too much.
A kiss was pressed to their temple as Azure tugged them onto the grass, tucking their head beneath his chin, hugging them tightly.
His hugs were always comforting, firm but not painful. He was careful with Two Time, like they were made of the most precious glass.
"Did you have fun, my flower?" he smiled, removing a hand just long enough to tilt his hat back, finally revealing those golden eyes they've grown to adore.
They hummed, reaching up and gently holding Azure's cheek, watching him tilt his head into their palm.
"I did, all thanks to you, my dearest," they mumbled, giving him a quick peck on the lips. He returned it quickly, though his smile made it somewhat awkward, they didn't mind.
As long as it was Azure, they could handle sitting under the shade of a tree older than both of them, surrounding by blooming flowers, watching the sun slowly hide behind the mountains far away.
Amarah would be so furious when he realized they'd done none of their duties, but that was for later.
Way, way later.
