Chapter 1: I’m Hungry
Cale wasn’t really sure what he was expecting to wake up to. But it definitely wasn’t this.
Cale had only just gotten back from the Central Plains and was readying his people for heading to Aipotu, the world dominated by the purple bloods hunter household.
He was heading to bed after having refined his plans, ignoring the incessant messages from the God of Death on the mirror—probably just his complaints about Cale’s demand for bringing 100 people.
But when he woke up, what he saw above him was not his bedroom ceiling, but rather the open sky.
Now, that wouldn’t normally be that bad. Odd yes, but he could figure out the anomaly. But right now, it wasn’t just the ceiling that held the sky, but everywhere around him. Including below him.
Fortunately, he could see the ground. Unfortunately, it was getting closer. Quickly.
“Oh shi—!”
He started, but realized he didn’t have any time to be cursing right now. His ancient powers however, had all the time in the world.
‘What the hells happening?!’
‘Cale! You have to do something!’
‘Why is this happening? We haven’t even eaten yet…!’
‘Oh XXX! We’re so XXX XXX!’
‘Cale! Use the wind!’
At least the thief had something useful to say, so Cale decided to listen to good advice.
Cale deployed the Sound of the Wind all around him, slowing his fall to a safe speed. The wind wrapping around him like a safe blanket as it gently carried him down.
As he continued his now safe journey down, Cale began thinking about his situation.
The land around him was unfamiliar. Even from up in the sky he couldn’t spot any towns, cities, or castles. It seemed like there was only forest and a few mountains all around, and even those he couldn’t recognize.
He seemed to have been suddenly teleported to an unfamiliar land. Cale could only think of one person who could be at fault.
‘That motherfucking God of Death!’
Cale thought to himself as the trees were about to touch the bottom of his feet as he was slowly lowered down by the winds.
‘That motherfucker must’ve sent me to another world again. The only time things like this happen, it’s because of that motherfucker sending me to some new world!’
But this time was like his transmigration, out of nowhere and without warning or explanation. He looked himself up and down, he was only in his pajamas and didn’t even have any socks on, let alone shoes.
‘Well, it’s not all bad. At least this time I’m not in a new body.’
He looked at his pale, skinny hands and pulled his blood red hair into view. He could also still hear his ancient powers, so at least he wasn’t alone. But still.
‘When I get my hands on him, he’ll wish gods could die!’
Sent to a different world in his sleep, without even getting to change his clothes, or even have breakfast! Cale swore to himself that the God of Death would receive his greatest smack to the back of the head he’s ever delivered.
‘But Cale, wasn’t the God of Death frantically trying to contact you before you went to sleep? Maybe he was trying to warn you.’
Cale decided to ignore the Super Rock, as he was too hungry and angry to care.
Finally, Cale’s descent comes to an end as his feet touch the leaf-covered dirt below him.
But maybe due to the uneven ground, or perhaps his lack of shoes, or even because of his still lingering confusion, because he immediately stumbled backwards and fell on his butt.
“Ugh..!”
Cale groaned while rubbing his lower back.
“Woah!”
Cale paused, startled, at hearing a new, very young sounding voice. He turns his gaze to the sound of the voice to see three… people(?) and one weird, scaled two-headed horse.
The one who seemed to exclaim before was a young girl, seemingly around eight or nine years old. She had rough black hair half up in a side ponytail and an orange patchwork kimono, her face revealing obvious surprise at the man behind the eyes that met hers. Then there was an odd, short goblin-looking creature with green skin and a creepy staff, he definitely didn’t seem human. And finally, towering over both of them, was a tall young man with long white hair and colorful face markings.
The white haired man seemed pretty different from the other two. The young girl and the goblin had looks of surprise and shock, but the man held a face of complete stoicism. In a way, it almost reminded Cale of the times he’d seen photos of himself when he lived as Kim Rok Soo.
“Mister, did you fall out of the sky?”
The young girl curiously asked.
“Hmm…”
Cale hummed to himself. He considered how he should answer, knowing he should probably at least introduce himself. But in complete honesty, he really didn’t care.
“Do you have any food?”

Rin just saw what was perhaps the most beautiful sight she’d ever seen. Although she’d seen Kagura flying and falling gracefully through the air by riding the winds, this somehow felt more pure. Like she’d seen a wind spirit demonstrating its powers on a whim. It was gentle, graceful, and felt completely natural, like the winds were made to carry this man wherever he wished.
And not only that, but Rin could’ve sworn she saw the tree branches part of their own volition, making room for this man to comfortably reach the ground.
And if that alone wasn’t impressive enough, the man in front of her was maybe the prettiest person she’d ever met. She thought Lord Sesshomaru was the handsomest person in the world, but the man in front of her made that previously unshakeable fact debatable.
He had unnatural, bright red hair like the sunset, with deep reds inside with the shade of blood. She found herself thinking that if the sun could bleed, it’d probably be the color of that man’s hair.
He was slender, graceful, and had a piercing gaze that didn’t seem to waver for anything.
Then that beautiful man immediately stumbled and fell onto his butt, clearly irritated. But even that display of clumsiness didn’t stop Rin’s gasp of admiration from leaving her lips.
Then, the man shifted his gaze and made eye contact with her, with any amount of startle or embarrassment perfectly hidden in his indifferent face.
When he opened his mouth Rin had no idea what he’d say.
What did this man, who seemed to descend from the sky while controlling the winds and trees like they were his own arms and legs, have to say?
“Do you have any food?”
Somehow, what he just said seemed more surprising than anything she’d seen so far.
Meanwhile, Cale was wondering why it was taking them so long to answer.
The young girl just looked at him blankly, eyes wide like she was tasked with solving a complex math problem when she thought she was in a history class.
The goblin seemed so surprised he didn’t even form a coherent response, just an exclamation of pure shock.
And if the white haired man felt any differently than he did before, he sure didn’t show it.
As Cale’s ears were perked, waiting for an answer—hopefully a positive one—he began to hear a faint buzzing noise.
Like a fly or mosquito, but seemingly bigger, and more than that, it sounded like there was a lot of them. But he couldn’t even start thinking about it because right as he started hearing that buzzing, the white haired man calmly shifted his gaze to the side.
In the direction he looked soon appeared a swarm of insects. Deep from the forest arrived huge wasp-looking flying insects, bigger than Cale’s whole hand.
They looked really creepy and angry, they kind of reminded Cale of other insect-type monsters he’d seen on Earth.
Maybe it was because of his years of experience, but something was telling him that those creepy insects were venomous and wouldn’t hesitate to sting him.
Just as Cale began contemplating either running or burning up those hideous things, he heard a commanding voice.
“Rin, get down.”
The white haired owner of that voice didn’t even glance at the little girl, keeping his eyes on the swarm as he drew one of the two swords tied to his belt.
“Yes Lord Sesshōmaru!”
Said the little girl—Rin—as she proceeded to crouch down and cover her head with her hands. Then, the little green goblin stepped in front of her and raised his creepy staff into the air, seemingly ready to fight off the insects to protect the girl behind him.
Cale could clearly tell that these two were going to protect her while they fought off those insects. Hell, even the scaled double headed horse seemed ready to move.
It reminded Cale an awful lot of his own companions, who would do anything to protect each other, Rin especially reminded him. She seemed even younger than Hong.
Cale’s thoughts got stuck on that, his friends—his family. What were they doing now, with him missing?
He knew that if he had any chance of getting back to them, he couldn’t lose the first people he ran into. Besides, he may be a trash, but even he couldn’t just sit back and watch a kid be in danger.
He stood up from the ground, and began to raise his hands. He let the soft forest wind rustle his blood red hair, feeling it cause ripples in his silky pajamas.
Just before the swarm reached them, before the goblin could use his staff, before even the man—Sesshōmaru—could begin to swing his sword, a beautiful silver light shot forward.
Standing in front of all of them was an intricate silver shield, letting off a comforting glow. It had delicate wings that enveloped all of them, like it was assuring them of their safety.
Rin looked up from her crouched position and let her eyes take in everything.
The beautiful shield reminded her of the distant moon, its silver light comforting those living in the dark.
She then noticed a thin, silver thread connected to the shield. She followed the thread with her gaze and at the end of it, saw another beauty.
The man from earlier, who had fallen from the sky, was standing there with his hands raised.
His crimson hair was gently flowing in the wind, as if the wind was gingerly playing with it. Before, he seemed so delicate and frail, like if the winds didn’t answer to him they’d sweep him away easily, but now he was standing tall.
‘Who… or what is he?’
Rin caught herself wondering as she stared at the man who was currently nervous because the insects scared him.
