Chapter Text
The Light Whom Lit the Darkness
Ferryman sat at his desk, writing a letter to Gabriel while longing to be in his embrace once more. Suddenly, Ferryman’s train of thought was interrupted by a tap on his window which made him jump slightly. He quickly turned to the source of the tapping and saw it was none other than Gabriel. They faced each other as Gabriel gave the ferryman a friendly wave. Ferryman quickly hopped out of his wooden chair and over to the window; opening it and granting Gabriel access into his room.
“My light! What an unexpected surprise! Tell me, how have you been doing? Oh! May I offer you tea? Or perhaps another preferred beverage?”
Gabriel chuckled a bit at Ferryman’s sudden hospitality.
“Do not worry yourself my friend, I am quite alright for now. Your presence alone makes me feel welcomed.”
Gabriel spoke with a gentle, reassuring smile. Ferryman blushed at Gabriel’s compliment.
“Of course… here, have a seat. Make yourself comfortable.”
He offered; walking over to his bed and patting the space next to him signaling Gabriel to come hither to where he sat. Gabriel sat himself next to him.
“My light, I have something for you!”
Ferryman turned to his desk to grab some sort of flower. He turned back around with the flower in his hand and gifted Gabriel a forget-me-not.
“Why thank you…! It is quite lovely Ferryman.”
Gabriel chimed gratefully as he held the precious flower close to his chest.
“Pray tell, where did you find such a flower?”
Ferryman’s memory was a bit foggy, but he explained to him that one day he found the flower floating by his ship and remembered seeing the flower from somewhere in a book he read.
“It is a myosotis or a forget-me-not. It symbolizes lasting connections and friendship with the ones close to you.”
Gabriel involuntary leaned in close to Ferryman, wrapping his arm around him.
“How thoughtful of you! I greatly appreciate your consideration.”
Ferryman’s face flushed as Gabriel leaned in close to his skeletal body. Ferryman glanced over at his desk and remembered the letter and what it said. He decided it was time to confess.
“My light…may I inquire something?”
Ferryman asked nervously trying to not let his voice falter.
“Of course.”
Gabriel replied. Ferryman’s hands trembled as he swallowed harshly, chocking down his anxiety.
“Please, do not be angry with me but… would you be keen to kissing me?”
Gabriel was stunned for a moment by such a straightforward question, but attempted to reassure Ferryman; questioning why he’d express anger towards him.
“B-because…thoughts like these are lustful or sinful are they not?”
Gabriel gently placed his hand on Ferryman’s shoulder.
“No. Thoughts like that are not sinful in any way. If anything it shows you deeply appreciate them and want to show expression in a way that’s loving.”
He gently reassured him and moved his hand down to Ferryman’s, holding tenderly.
“I see… so you wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of me kissing you?”
Ferryman trembled slightly under Gabriel’s gentle touch and reassuring tone.
“I see no issue in you doing so.”
Ferryman tried to not let his eagerness get ahold of himself and slowly raised his unoccupied hand to Gabriel’s armored face. His boney hand and fingers gently caressing and cupping the angel’s face. His face leaned in close to Gabriels, his hands and body trembling as he inched closer. Gabriel assisted Ferryman by leaning in closer to him as well and wrapping his other arm around the skeletal figure. Then after what almost felt like more than a minute, Ferryman kissed Gabriel. It felt awkward to say the least considering both of their faces were covered and Ferryman had no lips. Nonetheless it was still passionate, caring, tender, and other descriptives that were well fitted to what was happening then and there. Ferryman’s mind fogged as he spaced out and melted into the kiss. He pulled away for a second to catch his breath which he didn’t even know he had. Ferryman then leaned into Gabriel’s chest plate not knowing how to feel after making the closest thing to love to this divine being such as Gabriel. It was as if time stopped and it was beautiful.
“How do you feel?”
Gabriel’s voice was soft like silk or cotton; warm and inviting.
“I do not know…content? Delighted?”
“Would you like to do it again? If you would like, you may kiss me without my helmet.”
Ferryman was shocked by such a suggestion. Seeing underneath his helmet felt like a sin worthy of worse than eternal punishment.
“Y-you are fine with that? But what if…”
Gabriel silenced him and reassured that it will be alright as long as the council did not find out. Ferryman was curious and since he was allowed to do so, he cautiously removed the angels helmet. As expected it was a sight to behold; it was incomprehensible, indescribable yet beautiful and sacred… and Ferryman was just, given access to witness such a heavenly sight. Before Ferryman leaned in, Gabriel lifted the cloth so his mouth could be visible and held his face whilst holding the cloth back. Ferryman then leaned in and this time, their second kiss felt more real, more intimate, more passionate than before. They both felt liberated and like they were floating like they no longer were two separate beings. They continued like this for more than a few minutes maybe about eight to nine. They decided to pull away, concluding their session of intimacy. Ferryman clung close to Gabriel’s chest plate once again now being more out of breath than before. Gabriel’s arms were embraced around the skeletal figure
As they lie with each other after each passing moment wanting to stay like they were for just a bit longer, Ferryman knew what he was going to write about in his next diary entry.
