Chapter Text
“Ugh, im so done with this mission” Brian groaned hiding the body “Let’s head back, s’ too far for my liking” Tim or “Masky” said leaving no room for debate, lighting a cigarette before tossing the pack to Brian. “Ugh, I hope we get back before Toby does, he’s been a bitch lately” the hooded man replied, lighting one himself. The masked man nodded in agreement The two walked in silence, which in all fairness was normal for them; Masky didn't talk much and if he did it was really only to Hoodie or Brian. “There she is, hey baby.” Brian cooed to his truck, causing Masky to roll his eyes. He treated that truck like his child despite how much it’s been through. “Brian” Masky said, already in the passenger seat “fine fine” the blonde replied, starting the truck and driving out of the city as fast as he legally could.
The two relaxed into the worn leather seats of the truck, the two men already knew they had a long drive ahead of them. They always ended up with a drive that was a minimum of 2 hours on missions like this. “How much longer till we have to get back?” Brian asked “I dont fuckin know Brian. I thought you were the one who knew how to get back to the operator.” the blonde groans at the other’s response “look there's a town like 30 miles away according to the GPS, we can stop there for the night, get food, then figure out how to get back” Tim nods taking a drag of his cigarette. Silence fell between the two men, they'd been through so much together since Rosswood, hell even since Marble Hornets was just Alex’s shitty college film. “Do you ever wonder what would’ve happened if Jay never got ahold of those tapes?” Brian asked, cutting through the silence “why’d you ask?” Masky, who was now Tim, asked “Well, if Jay never found those tapes we wouldn’t be working for the operator right now, we could live totally normal lives.” Brian responds, earning a chuckle from Tim “Have you met Masky? Dude, even if I wanted to live a normal life he wouldn't let me.” “Hoodie would, but mostly because they know they exist to keep me safe, y’know.” Tim nods “Fuck, we’re low on gas.” Brian said “We should probably grab somethin’ to eat anyway.” Brian nods knowing right now they need sustenance to make it back to Rosswood
They both hadn’t really been in front for the entire day because of their “proxies”, which had become a sort of nickname for their alters. Usually their proxies wouldn't eat until their mission was complete or they had to set up camp. It was a huge inconvenience to both men, especially on missions that took upwards of 2 days. Brian pulled into the parking lot of the gas station turning off his truck, “Tim can you get me a-” “Red Bull and Beef Jerky?” Tim asks, already knowing the answer “You know me so well baby” Brian replies kissing his lovely boyfriend before hopping out of the truck to get gas. Tim followed suit and stretched for a good minute or two before walking into the gas station. He and Brian didn't have their masks on because it could give them away in the future. His shoulders relaxed slightly when he realized the cashier was busy reading a magazine, not enough to fully let his guard down but enough he could shop with some level of peace. The man grabbed Brian’s red bull and Jerky, himself a coke and a bag of potato chips, aswell another pack of cigarettes for both of them. He walked up to the counter, setting it all down to dig through his wallet for cash. Right as he found a twenty in his wallet, “Tim?” a familiar voice asked. His head shot up at the voice. It was Alex, but he left Alex to die in that abandoned school years ago. There was no way this was real, Alex died there! Brian only lived because Hoodie agreed to the operator’s deal to save their life.
The brunette stepped back“Fuck you, this is some sick joke. How do you know who i am” Tim said, digging through his pockets to find his gun. As he was trying to steady his hands enough to pull it out without dropping it Brian walked in. “Hey Tim are y-""Brian.” Alex said, honestly shocked the man was alive. The two had quite a bit of chemistry together; with Brian being the lead in Marble Hornets before everything went to shit . “This isn't real.” the blonde replied, almost grabbing their shit and running, but Tim held him back. Knowing they don't need any more attention in this place than they already have. Tim slammed the twenty from his wallet down before snatching the receipt from Alex and running back to Brian’s truck. The two men sped out of there in panicked silence. Alex was supposed to be dead, Tim killed him. However Tim thought he killed Brian and here he was in the driver’s seat. “Do you think it was actually him?” Brian asked, shifting his gaze towards Tim in flickers. “Maybe I..I dunno Brian”.
Meanwhile Alex, the poor guy was staring at the counter, his hands shaking as his mind raced. He had assumed Brian died after the guy who found him said that there was another guy who was already dead. His shift change couldn’t have come in at a more perfect time. “Hey ma- dude you look like you saw a ghost” he said “I just saw some people I used to know” Alex replied coldly as he left so the guy couldn’t ask him anymore questions. When Alex made it home,he sat on his couch in his crappy apartment trying to process it all. He grabbed his camera and hit record, he doesn’t need to record himself anymore but he does it just in case something happens to him. Some habits die hard, or never die at all.
“I saw Tim and Brian today. I..I don’t even know what to think, I thought Brian died in that abandoned school. And Tim I just assumed he ran so he wouldn’t get prosecuted for murder and attempted murder. When I asked if they were who I thought they were, they didn’t believe it was me, they told me to fuck off before I could even apologize for being such a dick. Not just during marble hornets. And I owe Tim a million apologies , I mean I tried to burn his fucking house down. I probably owe just as much to Brian, I would literally hunt him down to try and find Tim and Jay’s whereabouts.” Alex pauses for a moment. “It’s funny, the anniversary of Jay’s death is coming up soon. I still feel bad about it, I was in psychosis basically and I still feel bad. Sometimes when I can’t sleep I just sit at his grave. He” Alex pauses sniffling before continuing “He didn’t deserve to die. I did if we’re being completely honest, the world’s weird like that. I..I might just record the whole night. Logically I know it’s gone and I don’t have to worry, just I need proof of it. I should sleep, " Alex finishes talking before exiting frame
