Cody was awfully familiar with the sensation of being completely alone in a barren room. The sensation of being deprived of something essential without even the chance for a fight, because there was just no moment for him to fight back. Everything that condemned him to this miserable life was decided a long time ago behind closed doors.
Cody was indifferent to what they thought of him at this point, believing it was worth less than nothing. He was finally rewarded for all his hard work and patience, he would finally leave this incomplete place full of mediocrity and find a place to call his own. Maybe a family, a proper school and no longer feeling like a spare piece of a puzzle as he would be finally recognized for his genius beyond little golden stars on his tattered notebook.
If only he knew what he would get into.

He could always just fake being hurt so Jack would have to take care of him and Slenderman couldn’t send him away on another mission immediately! Toby grinned, he didn’t actually have to hurt himself, he could even reuse some of the blood that hadn’t dried up!
In retrospect, that sounded far more morbid than he meant it to.
OR
Toby is being overworked, missing out on quality time with his boyfriend EJ. His plan to finally get attention is a bit out there though.

The sky above had begun to drop snow again in the time he’d been walking, the downfall rather heavy. He was pretty sure he should be shivering in this weather, but a quick look at his hands confirmed that he wasn’t. That wasn’t good.
