Notes:

hello!! this is my first ever fic for debut or die and assistant manager kim hates idols. baese and iwol are just so similar that i couldn't help but write about them.

also i had to write out some drama scenes. if you're familiar to how iwol's dramas in the novel are written, that's how i did it.

small notes if you want to know the timeline: spArk is in their first year probably after mission era while teSTAR are in their 5th year with the system gone.

also shoutout to doobi for encouraging me to write this. you a real one <33

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“A drama offer?”

Bae Sejin was no longer unfamiliar with receiving drama offers. As TeSTAR entered their 5th year, their company naturally allowed them to pursue individual activities. Other members like Seon Ahyeon and Lee Sejin eventually became mentors on a survival show while Cha Eugene and Park Moondae formed a sub-unit, courtesy of the younger’s insistence. Kim Raebin naturally wanted to do some producing work, even working with other idol groups and Ryu Chungwoo was currently going viral for his several variety show appearances.

“Yes! The producer you worked on for your previous drama reached out to us yesterday,” his manager replied and added, “This time, there’s talks about having another idol on the show. Someone named Kim Iwol from spArk? I heard he’s quite famous nowadays. Does Sejin perhaps know about him?”

‘Another idol?’ Bae Sejin thought. He’s heard of spArk’s Kim Iwol who’s particularly known for his famous drama, “In My Office” but outside of that he doesn’t really know much about the other idol.

“Tell the producer I’m going to consider it, Manager hyung, Bae Sejin replied with a smile.

After sending him off, Bae Sejin immediately looked up Kim Iwol on the search engines and what he found was that Kim Iwol was a junior who debuted during TeSTAR’s 4th year. He also found that just like him, Kim Iwol was also the eldest in their group. Though in terms of age, it looked like Kim Iwol debuted around the same age as Lee Sejin, Seon Ahyeon, and Park Moondae, though his age is closer to Kim Raebin.

Scrolling down even further, Bae Sejin found that aside from being a rookie actor, Kim Iwol was also known for his rather eccentric personality. Terms like “Gentlemanly Ruffian” and “Idol with the Office Work Ethic” came up which Bae Sejin didn’t particularly understand.

‘Acting with him should be interesting,’ Bae Sejin thought. He has never worked on a show with a fellow idol before so this would be a fun experience for him.

After doing his preliminary research on his upcoming drama which seems to be a mystery and action drama where the main leads are a crime lord and a detective, Bae Sejin looked at the offer given to him and found out he was casted to play the role of the detective.

Sensing that nothing would probably go wrong with accepting the offer, Bae Sejin called the manager to inform him that he plans to accept.

Soon after accepting the role, news outlets immediately began to circulate articles for their upcoming drama.

‘TeSTAR’s Bae Sejin and spArk’s Kim Iwol. A dream collaboration?’

‘TeSTAR’s Bae Sejin and spArk’s Kim Iwol, confirmed to work on a drama together.’

ㄴ Oh?

ㄴ A drama with two idols? Is the drama going to be that bad that no original actor wants to do this? LOL.
ㄴ Excuse me. Bae Sejin is an award-winning actor. Speak to him nicely.
ㄴ All tongues that speak against Kim Iwol shall fall. Count your days, OP.

ㄴ I’m a fan of Bae Sejin but who’s Kim Iwol???
ㄴ Kim Iwol is from spArk. Please look at him nicely, Loviewers~

ㄴ I’m a Loviewer and a Sparkler!! This is my dream collaboration!! I love you both!

As Bae Sejin entered the conference room where the script reading for the drama was held, he saw a figure placing the placards on each designated spot on the table.

“Hello, sunbaenim!” a man with a tall stature bowed at him.

“Ah, yes, hello…!” Bae Sejin smiled, “I suppose you’re Kim Iwol?”

“Yes I am!” Kim Iwol replied energetically, “It’s an honor to work with you, sunbae”

“It’s an honor to work with you as well but why are you placing the placards on the table?”

‘Was there some office politics going on?’ Bae Sejin thought. Kim Iwol was a relatively rookie idol and staff members who poured all the work on unsuspecting rookies were not uncommon.

“Oh, I’m just helping the staff, sunbaenim! I got here a little early and saw them still preparing so I decided to help. It doesn’t feel right to just sit down while others are working,” his junior replied.

Glad that no workforce abuse was happening, Bae Sejin naturally relaxed. He agreed with his junior’s statement and asked the staff if there was anything he could do to help.

“What?! No! Please, the two of you just sit down. Leave it all to us!” The staff replied, flustered and ushered the two idols to just sit down.

As the time ticked on and more cast members settled in. The introductions and script reading followed quickly.

“Hello! I’m Bae Sejin playing the role of Seo Dohwan. Please take good care of me,” Bae Sejin introduced, giving a bow.

“Hello! I’m Kim Iwol, playing the role of Joo Yonghan. Please take good care of me,” Kim Iwol introduced shortly after, also giving a bow.

Bae Sejin wasn’t really surprised that Kim Iwol was the other main lead. He did see it coming after all, given that there two idols were casted. If one was the main character while the other only had a supporting role, the fans may cause an uproar online. However, he did think about whether or not Kim Iwol could actually pull off being a crime lord. If memory serves him right, Kim Iwol has only acted once and his character in ‘In My Office’ was more of a gag character.

“If you were the real criminal mastermind, what would you do, Joo Yonghan-ssi?” Bae Sejin said, getting into his role.

“Catch me if you can, Dohwan-ssi. Is that what you wanted me to say?” Kim Iwol drawled.

Bae Sejin’s doubts were immediately casted aside when he heard Kim Iwol open his mouth. He felt that Kim Iwol was really Joo Yonghan.

“That was amazing!” the director chimed in, “the chemistry between you two is good. I can sense this drama is going to be a hit!”

After the script reading ended on a good note, Bae Sejin went up to Kim Iwol who was currently in the middle of fixing his things.

“Kim Iwol-ssi? I really enjoyed your acting today,” Bae Sejin said with a smile.

“Thank you so much, sunbaenim! It’s really an honor to work with you. I want to learn a lot from a seasoned actor like you,” Kim Iwol replied.

“By the way, sunbaenim, if it isn’t much trouble, could you perhaps sign something for me? My group member is a fan of your work and said that if I can’t get your autograph, they’d lock me out of their dorm”

Bae Sejin let out a laugh and said, “Of course!”

Kim Iwol handed him a small paper and a marker. When Bae Sejin asked to whom he would address it, Kim Iwol said it was for Kang Kiyeon.

Writing down a message of thanks alongside his signature, Bae Sejin gave the paper back to his junior and bid him farewell.

‘Kim Iwol…he’s very interesting indeed,’ Bae Sejin thought. If an actor could immediately switch between their role and their actual self with a drop of a hat, then wouldn’t that person be a genius?

Drama shooting was something that Bae Sejin knew like the back of his hand. In the past, this was tied to something painful that he didn’t want to remember but now, with the confidence that he’d built over the years, the sense of familiarity that came from acting in dramas felt like coming home.

Acting was and is always something Bae Sejin held dear.

With a light heart, Bae Sejin headed to the set that was scheduled for today. With respect to their main cast members, the production team eagerly planned the filming in a non-linear format in order to accommodate the schedules of both idol-actors.

What he didn’t expect, though, was to see Kim Iwol already on set roaming around helping the staff.

Over the course of the preparations for filming, Bae Sejin naturally formed an opinion on Kim Iwol. He agreed with public sentiment that his work ethic was unmatched. He always seemed to greet people with a smile and was always looking for something to do.

“Bae Sejin-sunbaenim, hello!” Kim Iwol greeted with a 90-degree bow as soon as he spotted him.

There was one other thing that he noticed; it was that Kim Iwol was rather too formal? The younger idol always had his posture straight and spoke to others in formal language. He didn’t know whether to chalk it up to his company being strict since he was a rookie or if he was just like that.

“Hello, Kim Iwol-ssi. How are you?” Bae Sejin replied.

“I’m good, sunbaenim!”

“Kim Iwol-ssi got here early? I heard our shoot together wasn’t till late in the morning?”

“There really wasn’t anything to do today aside from the shoot so I wanted to be here to see if I can offer any help.”

“Kim Iwol-ssi, is this habit of yours frequent? You’re always the first one to arrive even during script reading,” the words left Bae Sejin’s mouth unexpectedly.

‘Great. He’ll think I’m a meddlesome senior,’ Bae Sejin thought.

Before he could take his words back and tell Kim Iwol to not mind him, the junior idol let out a small laugh and said, “Yes, sunbaenim. You’re not the first one to ask about it too but if there’s anything I could do to help to ensure that filming goes smoothly, then I’d be happy to do whatever!”

“He’s right, Sejin-ssi,” a staff member chimed in, “He was like this too during his previous drama. We had to beg Iwol-ssi to just sit down!”

Seemingly embarrassed, Kim Iwol could only rub his hands at the back of his neck before his manager called him in to talk about something. Kim Iwol shortly left after giving him a bow and wishing him good luck for today’s filming.

The scene that they were about to shoot was the first meeting between Seo Dohwan and Joo Yonghan on a cruise ship.

“Why don’t you guess that person,” a girl pointed to a man standing at the bottom of a staircase looking upwards.

“That man…is a mathematician.”

Joo Yonghan looked around to see who was talking about him and saw a man in a suit talking to a bunch of girls who were busy swooning after him.

“Excuse me, sir, but may I ask what your occupation is?” a girl from the crowd approached him.

“The gentleman is correct,” Joo Yonghan replied with a smile, “I am a mathematician.”

“That’s amazing! He’s guessed everyone correctly! How exactly do you do it?!” another girl exclaimed.

Now this was something Joo Yonghan was curious about as well.

“It’s simple, really,” the man replied with a shrug of his shoulders, “this gentleman was staring at the staircase for a long time as if observing something, this is something that a regular person wouldn’t do. So it’s either he’s an architect evaluating the structural design or a mathematician observing if the staircase follows the golden ratio. However, if he were an architect, wouldn’t he be more interested in other aspects of the staircase rather than just look at the staircase as a whole? That is the reason why he took a step back to see it in its entirety. Am I right with my deductions, Professor?”

“Another point to you perhaps. You are right that I was observing the staircase and its adherence to the golden ratio.”

After the girls left the suited man with a giggle, the man approached Joo Yonghan.

“Seo Dohwan,” the man introduced himself and offered his hand, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Joo Yonghan,” Joo Yonghan introduced and shook Seo Dohwan’s hand, “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well.”

“Cut! That was amazing!” the director cheered.

Bae Sejin let out a sigh. He really wasn’t used to suits that much especially with the fact that it’s currently the summer season so the suit just feels too stuffy to wear. Taking a glance at his co-actor, he saw that he was fine.

“Let’s take a break before returning to shoot some other scenes later! Bae Sejin-ssi and Kim Iwol-ssi can head to the dressing rooms to get changed for now,” the director said.

When they headed to their dressing rooms, Bae Sejin was brimming with curiosity. How exactly did Kim Iwol become an actor in the first place? One easy search would confirm that he isn’t a child actor like he is. Even if he hadn’t been acting for a long time, his skills were incredibly good.

When filming started again in the afternoon, he was scheduled to shoot after Kim Iwol. With nothing left to do, he decided to observe how the other idol-actor acts some more.

“Baek Jooheon-ssi? It’s Joo Yonghan. Is something wrong?” Joo Yonghan called.

Baek Jooheon looked at the door and the dead body in horror. If Joo Yonghan finds out he killed somebody he will be finished.

“Baek Jooheon-ssi? The door isn’t locked so I’ll be heading in.”

Before Baek Jooheon could stop it, Joo Yonghan went in and immediately saw the gruesome scene. A lifeless man on the ground stabbed by a knife.

“Oh, dear. It seems a murder has occurred,” Joo Yonghan said monotonously.

“Y-Y-You misunderstand! Tha-That man is a thief who snuck into my room with a weapon and wanted to steal from me!”

“The man had this knife before going in?”

“That’s right! It was clear that he targeted me from the start!”

“But this knife,” Joo Yonghan paused and tilted his head, “Isn’t the handle’s design a bit too intricate for a regular man to have? I would say it would be more apt to assume that this is a nobleman’s weapon.”

“Are you calling me a liar, Joo Yonghan?!” Baek Jooheon bellowed.

“Absolutely not,” Joo Yonghan said with a chuckle, “After all, why would a nobleman lie?”

“Th-that’s right!” Baek Jooheon let out a nervous laugh.

“However, while that would be understood among people like us, regular people would come to a different conclusion, like law enforcement perhaps.”

“Luckily for you, Baek Jooheon-ssi, we are currently on a cruise ship,” Joo Yonghan said with a smirk.

“What are you suggesting?”

“I’m saying that since the crime has been witnessed by two people, that being you and me, it would be easier to clean this up before anyone else notices. Isn’t it convenient that we’re on a cruise ship several miles at sea, on a dark night as well. Don’t you think this is the perfect way to dispose of the body?”

Baek Jooheon widened his eyes at that. Joo Yonghan was right, no one would ever know that he killed a man if they threw him overboard right now.

With a nod, both men went on each end of the lifeless man and carried him. With a single toss, the man was thrown into the sea, never to be seen again.

Baek Jooheon let out a laugh and said, “Well, Joo Yonghan, I trust that this matter stays between us?”

“Of course,” Joo Yonghan replied smiling, “No one has to know.”

Seemingly content to have gotten away with murder, Baek Jooheon left the room to seek for alcohol.

Once he confirmed that he was alone, Joo Yonghan walked to the fireplace while removing his gloves and threw it into the fire afterwards.

His phone began to ring.

“Boss, we caught the fish.”

“Nicely done,” Joo Yonghan said with a smirk, “I suppose it’s time to start the next part of the plan.”

“Cut! Kim Iwol-ssi you can go home now!” the director exclaimed.

Kim Iwol let out a smile and bowed, “Thank you for your hard work!”

Bae Sejin was incredibly impressed. Kim Iwol’s ability to bring Joo Yonghan to life was spectacular. He really did seem like a criminal mastermind but as soon as the cameras were off, he went back to the ever so docile and cheery junior that he came to know after the past few days.

“Sejin-ssi, your face is amazing,” the stylist who was currently busy patting his face with powder said.

“Ah…thank you!” Bae Sejin exclaimed. Even though he’s heard more about his visuals to last him a lifetime, it still felt awkward to accept such compliments.

“You really don’t look like you’re in your late 20s. Is there something in the water that idols drink that makes you look young?”

Bae Sejin let out a laugh. He knew that this was a common question ever since it became a meme.

“All done! How do you like it?” the stylist exclaimed, seemingly proud to have created her masterpiece.

“It looks great. Thank you as always,” he complimented and looked to his right and saw his co-star also in the process of getting ready.

“Iwol-ssi, your eyebags are getting darker again,” the other stylist pointed out.

Kim Iwol let out a laugh and said, “I’m sorry. We’re preparing to make a comeback so I’ve been accompanying Lee Cheonghyeon because he wants my input on the songs he made.”

This naturally piqued Bae Sejin’s interest because while he knew of actor Kim Iwol, he was still clueless on who Kim Iwol of spArk really is.

“You’re preparing a comeback?” Bae Sejin asked.

“Yes, sunbaenim! We’re still deciding on which song we should choose for our album’s title track.”

“By the way, sunbaenim, don’t you also have someone in your group who’s good at producing?”

“Yes,” Bae Sejin replied with a nod, “It’s Kim Raebin.”

“I’ve seen some performances of TeSTAR-sunbaenim’s and the choreographies are amazing according to my members.”

“That would be because Lee Sejin, Cha Eugene, and Seon Ahyeon also participate in choreography making. Does spArk also have someone like that?”

“Yes! They’re Kang Kiyeon and Choi Jeho,” Kim Iwol replied like a proud father.

“This Kang Kiyeon; he’s the one who asked for my autograph right?” Bae Sejin asked.

“Yes! Kiyeon was very delighted to receive it. He says he’s looking forward to TeSTAR-sunbaenim’s next comeback.”

“You know, Iwol,” the stylist said while holding his face, “your face should also have a price tag like Lee Cheonghyeon’s. Maybe about 850,000 per square meter as well?”

“Stylist-nim, please don’t joke. How can I ever compare to spArk’s lustrous diamond? Lee Cheonghyeon being the visual of the group is already enough for me.”

“Well, Lee Cheonghyeon-nim’s market value has risen hasn’t it? I’ve heard it’s up to a million these days?” the stylist remarked which let out a laugh from both the stylist and Kim Iwol.

Bae Sejin was naturally lost. 850,000 per square meter? Did spArk have a natural interest in real estate? Also, how does Kim Iwol say terms like “lustrous diamond” to describe his fellow member?

A knock came at the door to reveal a member of the production team, “Are the two of you ready?”

The two idol-actors nodded and got up to walk to the conference room.

“Kim Iwol-ssi, you love your group a lot, don’t you?” Bae Sejin pointed out.

“Hm? Is that how sunbaenim sees it?” Kim Iwol replied.

“Yes, looking at you in the dressing room, you have a certain pride when talking about them.”

“Well,” Kim Iwol said then paused, “I think that they changed my life, truly.”

“I understand the sentiment. It’s something you don’t expect, do you? For a group of people to just change your life for the better without you even noticing nor asking for it. It just…sort of happens.”

Bae Sejin looked back on his journey as a TeSTAR member. He, who started on Idol Co. at his former company’s insistence, eventually grew to love being on stage performing with his 6 most beloved members. They’ve been through a lot together, even insane things such as crashing buildings and alternate universes.

Though Bae Sejin was sure that no matter the universe, no matter the timeline, TeSTAR was going to be his home.

“Sunbaenim?” Kim Iwol called, drawing Bae Sejin away from his thoughts.

“Yes?”

Before Kim Iwol could answer, the production team member said that they were already on set. Bae Sejin and Kim Iwol were welcomed by a string of flashing lights, cameras flashing, and journalists lining up, eager for the next big scoop.

The show’s cast members fell in line according to the designated positions marked on the table.

“Hello! We’re the cast of Noble Patriarch!” The entire cast greeted with a bow.

Conferences for an upcoming drama followed a simple format. Questions regarding the drama, the actors’ and actresses’ thoughts on their roles, and possibly the juiciest information of them all, each cast member’s opinion on working with each other.

“Bae Sejin-ssi, you’re the one of the leads for this drama. How does it feel to work alongside Kim Iwol?” the reporter asked.

“It’s a fun time,” Bae Sejin replied, “Kim Iwol-ssi’s acting in this drama is one to look out for. I’m sure everyone would enjoy his role.”

The reporter nodded before asking the same to Kim Iwol. This was also something he was curious about—his junior’s opinion about him.

“To have the opportunity to appear alongside Bae Sejin-sunbaenim on a drama is amazing. I’m still new to the drama industry so I’m learning new things from him. His experience really shows while filming. I’m just glad that sunbaenim thinks that I did well,” Kim Iwol said with a smile.

Kim Iwol spoke with such reverence that Bae Sejin could feel his cheeks start to warm. Was his junior really an expert in flattery?

“Kim Iwol-ssi, you were involved in an accident not too long ago and suffered major injuries. Were there any problems that arose from filming the drama? After all, this is an action drama.”

‘An accident that left him with major injuries?’ Bae Sejin thought. This never came up during filming but if it’s anything serious as the reporter seems to imply, then why did Kim Iwol agree to the role despite this?

“There were no issues during filming but thank you for your concern,” Kim Iwol started, “Before accepting the offer, my company reviewed it to see if the acting involved anything that would hurt my head. After reassurance from the production team, the company and I decided to accept the offer.”

Based on his words, Kim Iwol sustained a head injury. Depending on the severity of the injury, his recovery should’ve taken a while but his prior searches on his junior revealed that Kim Iwol has had nonstop idol and actor activities.

Bae Sejin was not impressed. This is either the company forcing his junior to work despite his injury or his junior forcing his way to work. If past experiences were anything to go by, Bae Sejin was more inclined to believe the latter to be the more plausible explanation.

Nothing of note seemed to appear after that question and once Bae Sejin was back in the manager’s car, he immediately pulled up his phone.

Kim Iwol injury, Bae Sejin typed. The results made his blood boil in anger.

‘In-house producer attacks an idol. Idol is identified to be spArk’s Kim Iwol’

‘Kim Iwol faints from injury after performance on Idol Dynasty Chronicle’

Why on earth would an in-house producer attack a rookie idol? Bashing a 21-year old man’s head with a hammer is only something a maladjusted scum would do.

According to the news reports and UA, Kim Iwol was scheduled for an 8-week recovery yet a simple search on MeTube would show that the IDC finale was 2 weeks after his injury happened.

While Bae Sejin was searching information on Kim Iwol and with each passing news article made his head ache even more, he was soon surprised to find out that they were already at the lobby of TeSTAR’s dorm building.

Opening the door, he was immediately met with Park Moondae.

“Oh, hyung, you’re here.”

Upon retrospection, he realized that Park Moondae had some similarities with Kim Iwol.

He remembered the day Park Moondae woke up from his 20-day long coma and how he immediately decided to hold a concert. While Park Moondae always seemed peculiar to him, this moment of his was the one that cemented in his mind that his member was insane. Though he understands now that it was due to the system’s influence that Park Moondae wanted to hold a concert, it was still baffling.

“Hyung?” Park Moondae called again.

“Sorry, I was thinking of something,” Bae Sejin replied.

“Was the conference hard? You know, hyung, if the reporters said something out of line, we can always sue.”

“...I know that!” Bae Sejin exclaimed. Even years after his period of insisting to sue their former label, Park Moondae seemed to think of him as someone who’s always eager to sue people.

“I was just thinking about Kim Iwol-ssi.”

“That rookie idol from spArk?”

“You know him?”

Shaking his head, Moondae replied, “Just heard of him in passing. I’ve heard they’re going viral constantly and are doing well nowadays. Is there something weird about him?”

“No, it’s just that apparently he had an injury and went straight to work right after. Sounds familiar to you, right?”

Moondae let out his famous Tibetan fox face and let out a sigh, “Maybe he’s also influenced by the system?”

Taking a pause before he continued, “Nah, that wouldn’t be possible. The system is gone now after all. Maybe he’s just eager to work, hyung.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Anyway, where is everybody?” Bae Sejin asked.

“Seon Ahyeon had an advertisement shoot today; Cha Eugene wanted to go out and invited Lee Sejin to tag along; Ryu Chungwoo-hyung is currently at the company discussing our next comeback; Kim Raebin is at the studio.”

“And you? What are your plans today?”

“Kim Raebin asked if I could listen to his new song so I’m heading to the studio after eating lunch. He’ll probably ask me to record the guide vocals if things go smoothly.”

“Knowing him, you’re probably going to sing this afternoon,” Bae Sejin pointed out, “Anyway, I’m going to sleep.”

Park Moondae gave a nod and wished that he’ll have a good sleep. Now that Bae Sejin was alone in his room, his thoughts went to Kim Iwol once more.

In the beginning, Kim Iwol was probably the textbook definition of a respectful junior. He has a way with words and his behavior makes you want to dote on him constantly. Bae Sejin used to think that Kim Iwol was as meek as a mouse but the information he learned today showed that he was more of a hissy cat.

Bae Sejin woke up without noticing that he had actually fallen asleep. Opening his phone, he saw that articles about the earlier press conference were now posted.

‘An opportunity to act alongside a great senior—Kim Iwol about appearing alongside Bae Sejin in upcoming drama’

‘A fruitful collaboration? Recent news on Bae Sejin and Kim Iwol’s upcoming drama.’

ㄴ Iwol-ah ㅠㅠ. The way he was describing Bae Sejin is the best.
ㄴ My son is just happy to act with Bae Sejin. I love them both.

ㄴ Did you guys see how Baese blushed when Kim Iwol said he was honored to act with him??? He’s so cute!!
ㄴ Iwol being shocked after being complimented by his senior ㅠㅠ

ㄴ Variety show together when?? I’d love to see more of them!!

ㄴ Is anyone going to point out how weird the reporter is for bringing up Iwol’s injury?? Why do you people feel the need to talk about it constantly??

Glad to see the comments were positive and people eager to watch their upcoming drama, Bae Sejin let out a smile and fell back to sleep once more.

“Cut!” The director said, “And that’s a wrap. Thank you, you two. This show is going to be a hit!”

It already was. Thanks to the star-studded cast that appeared on the drama, viewership ratings skyrocketed on the first episode alone, beating out other shows appearing during the same time slot. Naturally, this also gave Bae Sejin and Kim Iwol a boost in their popularity.

Comments on posts regarding their drama went about like this:

ㄴ I’m so glad Baese managed to finally break free from his crazy shaman roles ㅠㅠ. Watching him turn from a cute kid into a dashing man in a suit. I’m a Baese fan forever!!

ㄴ At first I thought Kim Iwol didn’t suit his role but who thought he could play the role of a b*st*rd so well?? That scene where he watched a man kill someone while sipping his tea gave me goosebumps!!

ㄴ Doesn’t this mean that Kim Iwol and Bae Sejin will meet during the Purple Dragon Awards?? Imagine them winning Rookie Actor and Best Actor ㅠㅠ

ㄴ Send them on a variety show now please I’m begging you!!! I need more Baese and Kim Pep!!!

“Bae Sejin-sunbaenim,” Kim Iwol called.

“Yes?” Bae Sejin replied.

Kim Iwol gave a bow and said, “It truly was an honor to work with you, sunbaenim! I hope you have more activities in the future!”

Bae Sejin spluttered. What is his junior doing now?

“What’s this now? I enjoyed working with you, Kim Iwol-ssi. I’ll look forward to your comeback as well.”

The time he spent with Kim Iwol naturally made him want to dote on the younger man. This was the first time Bae Sejin ever felt like this.

‘Here goes nothing,’ Bae Sejin thought before saying, “Would you like to get in contact sometimes?”

Kim Iwol seemed to be surprised after hearing this and replied, “Of course! It will be an honor, sunbaenim.”

After exchanging numbers, Bae Sejin immediately named Kim Iwol in his contact as “Hissy Cat”.

“I’ll see you around then, sunbaenim?”

“Ah, enough with the sunbaenim already. Just call me hyung.”

Kim Iwol let out a laugh and replied, “Okay. Well then, I’ll be going now, hyung. Have a good day!”

Waving him off as farewell and wishing him a good day as well, Bae Sejin walked back to the manager’s car, content that he accepted the offer to appear in this drama.

Maybe, just maybe, Bae Sejin was looking forward to hanging out with Kim Iwol.

Notes:

if you figured out the show that the drama was based on, i'll give you a cookie.

small notes or things i wanted to add but couldn't

-originally, baese was going to find out about iwol's back but i couldn't think of a way that could happen

-also wanted to include his heart condition rather than his head injury but i think his heart condition wasn't public info ??

-if anyone's curious, moondae was originally going to be the same age as iwol but that just wasn't possible so maybe in another fic instead.

-if anyone is interested, i plan on adding a few more chapters aka iwol's pov and a variety show guesting with these two

and if you reach the end of this note i love you dearly thank u for reading all this hope you enjoyed!!
