Work Text:

White Lily Cookie hates her scent. She hates how it makes others turn their head away in disgust, she hates how it reminds her why the Green Salad Kingdom didn't accept her as one of their own, she hates how it slowly poisons Cookies that dare to be near her.

(There was only one Cookie that dared to be her friend, but it's been so long since she saw him it might as well never happened at all.)

It's the reason why she usually travels alone, avoiding any cookie in her sight as to not damage their already fragile bodies.

White Lily Cookie sighs as she forces herself to open her eyes, it's not good to dwell on her thoughts before she's even out of her sleeping area. (She doesn't carry a sleeping bag with her, preferring to trade a tiny bit of comfort for more books to study and revise on)

There's dozens of books scattered around her, each having scribbles of notes and sticky notes on every page.

She must've forgotten to clean these up again. No matter, not like she'll be doing anything else today.

She takes one of the books and starts reviewing the information in it, often grabbing another to cross reference and continuing to make her own notes on it.

While drawing one of the creatures she encountered yesterday, (Or was it a week ago? She can never keep track of time properly) a piece of her arm falls off, leaving a tiny hole in her dough.

This again, she thinks as she takes out the bandages she keeps in her bag to wrap it up and continue studying. It would be better if she ate the jellies Pure Vanilla Cookie gave her through a delivery bird, but it's not bad enough to warrant it yet.

('When is it bad enough?' a tiny part of her mutters, 'When your dough is all crumbly and frail?')

('When I deem it bad enough' a larger part of her whispers back, knowing it'll never reach that point, not with her.)

She thinks about back when she was still in the Blueberry Yogurt Academy, Pure Vanilla Cookie was always trying to get her to eat more, to let her stomach have some sort of sustenance. She always rejected his offers, wanting to spend her time studying Cookie anatomy.

It's the only way to achieve Freedom for Cookiekind, she assures herself. To reach liberation from our purpose of existence.

White Lily Cookie snaps out of her thoughts as she realises her pen had stopped moving and made a blob of black ink on the page, completely obscuring anything that could've been there.

She peels a sticky note from it's pad and writes down the information on there before sticking it onto the ruined page.

She's been getting caught up in her thoughts more lately, ruining her notes more often than not. Maybe she should give studying a break and go outside to try and find more clues to the truth of Cookiekind's creation.

('Or maybe you should take a break in general' The part of her that sounds like Pure Vanilla Cookie advises, the concern in his voice evident even if she's just imagining him.)

('Just one more thing,' She responds, even if she's making this all up in her head. 'Then I'll take a break')

(She can feel his judgemental yet worried eyes looking at her, the both of them knowing eachother well enough that they both know it's a lie.)

('Alright,' He doesn't call her out still, his voice dropping with dissapointment. 'Please, just don't let it get too bad')

(She doesn't respond, yet they both know what she said anyway.)

She stands from her sitting position and stretches out her body before cleaning up her books and stuffing them into her bag, slinging it over her shoulders right before taking her lily staff into her hands. (Another thing that reminds her of her beloathed scent)

She carries on her journey to find out the Truth of her existence, for the Freedom of all Cookiekind.

-----------^-^-----------

The sun is starting to rise, she should rest before she passes out during her journey. (Witches know how many times that's happened already.)

She sets her lily staff onto her lap as she rests her dough against a random tree, casting a shield strong enough to ward away most cake monsters that'll last for as long as she sleeps. Though, it wouldn't be of much use considering the lack of cake monsters surrounding the area, but it's better safe than sorry.

Like this, calm and quiet, the scent of lilies that envelop her entire being seem to smell stronger. The intense floral aroma disgusting to even the Cookie herself.

She ponders on how Pure Vanilla Cookie managed to stick around her for so long without complaining even once, even going as far as to tell her that he finds her fragrance lovely.

(At times, she wonders if he was lying to make her feel better. After all, no Cookie could withstand the horrid scent of a poisonous flower without feeling repulsed by it.)

She uses her magic to summon any other type of flower to try and drown out the putrid stench. Gardenias, lilacs, honeysuckles, anything that would overwhelm her own scent.

The combined fragrance of all the flowers makes her head a little dizzy, but all that matters right now is that the awful lily stench is gone.

She closes her eyecings, trying to fall asleep peacefully.

The tree trunk feels rough against her dough, the sunlight is seeping in through her eyelids and her head won't stop spinning. But that's alright, she can manage.

(Distantly, she can hear Pure Vanilla Cookie saying that she doesn't need to hide her scent, that he would want to be her friend regardless of what her ingredients are.)

(She wants to tell him that it's not that she's scared the scent of lilies would scare him off, but that she herself can't bear to smell it for a second longer.)

(Not that it matters anyway, he won't understand her hatred for her scent, he wouldn't want to.)

(She's had enough experience with him to know that.)
