chapter 1a (Teto’s pov)
I really wanted to make a sandwich, but we were out of bread, so I had to drive all the way to
Walmart to get bread. However, I couldn’t find the car keys. I looked everywhere they could
possibly be, but they weren’t there.
I was just going to go through the shelves for the hundredth time when I felt a tap on my
shoulder. I turned around and saw Miku standing in front of me, waving the car keys in my
face.
“Looking for something?” She asked, twirling the keys around her finger. Annoyed, I tried to
swipe the keys from her, but I was too slow. Miku’s hands were now behind her back, hiding
the keys from me.
“Why do you need to leave, anyways? You didn’t say anything.” She continued to ask. I could
hear her playing with the keys behind her back. It irritated me.
“I just needed to get bread; it’s not that big of a deal!” I snapped, slowly beginning to lose my
patience, “Can I have the keys?”
Miku stared at me for a moment, probably thinking. Then an innocent smile appeared across
her face. “Can I come so I can get some chips?”
I was too hungry to put up with her, so I nodded, sighing with exasperation. Miku’s hands
slowly dropped to her sides.
Thinking she would give me the keys, I extended my hand.
So did she.
I extended my hand a little further.
So did she.
Then I tried to take the keys from her.
She then stepped away, taking the keys from me once again.
“I’ll drive.” She declared, walking to the front door. Annoyed, I followed along. Miku knew, or at
least she should’ve known how horrible her driving was, but she insisted on driving everywhere
just to spite me.
Chapter 1b (neru’s pov)
I woke up to the sound of a car starting. Confused, I walked all the way to the kitchen window
and opened the blinds to see Miku and Teto driving off. Where were they even going, anyways?
It didn’t matter. I suddenly felt a pang of hunger in my stomach. I really wanted some food.
Anything at that point.
I checked the fridge. There was practically nothing but some of those mac and cheese cups. I
took one out and poured some water into it to put in the microwave for a few minutes. When it
was ready, I emptied out the cheese sauce in it and stirred it in. Then I got an ice cube to put in
the mac and cheese so that it would cool down faster. After a few more minutes of waiting,
which felt like forever, the mac and cheese was finally ready to eat. I sat there, peacefully eating
the mac and cheese cup in the kitchen.
I tried to find something to do after eating. It was actually really boring without teto and miku
around. I was really wondering what they were doing…
Chapter 1c (miku’s pov)
I could’ve sworn the steering wheel wasn’t working!
There were two angry men knocking on Teto’s window. She opened it, letting their angry yells
and complaints into the car.
“What are you two thinking, driving like that?” One of them demanded.
Teto tried to reason with them. “I-It was all a mistake! We’re really sorry!”
The other man walked over, pulling the other one away from the window. “Come on, Pedro. We
don’t have time to deal with this.”
Pedro scoffed, nudging his friend away. “No, Harry! They need to pay, somehow!”
He began to move even closer to the window. Intimidated, Teto began to close the window.Harry wrapped his arm around Pedro’s, pulling him even harder. We could still hear their yelling
with the window closed. “We don’t have time for this! Let’s just go and hope the impact from
them almost hitting us like that has knocked some sense into their heads!”
Pedro continued to insist, trying to get back to the car, luckily, it gave me enough time to put
the car in drive and drive up the Walmart parking lot for a spot to park.
When I finally managed to park in a decent spot, we both stepped out of the car and made our
way into the store.
“Miku!” Teto cried, “What were you thinking?”
I sighed and continued to walk down the parking lot, refusing to look at her.
“Give me the keys,” she continued to insist.
I still wasn’t going to let her win. I could drive perfectly fine; this was all just a little mistake.
Why couldn’t she understand that?
**fast forward like fifteen minutes or so**
Teto got the stupid keys. Well, technically, the drill-haired gremlin stole them from my pocket
while I was at the checkout. Why couldn’t she just forgive me this one time?
We didn’t talk the entire drive home. I took my phone out and played a game while Teto drove
the car. Honestly, I felt like I was going to throw up the whole time. I don’t know what Teto was
thinking the entire drive.
Chapter 2 (Teto’s pov)
I was barely going to get the ingredients for my sandwich when I saw Neru walk into the
kitchen. She seemed… off.
“Neru? Are you okay?” I asked her.
She had her phone in hand. She walked up to me and showed me a video.
I gasped.
Some idiot had recorded the entire incident with me and Miku! I looked to the right and saw
about twenty thousand likes on the video. In just the span of an hour, too!
“Why would you do that?!” Neru suddenly yelled, waving the phone in her hand.
“It wasn’t even me!” I said back, “It was-“
Neru quickly interrupted me. “Teto, you were the only one in that car! Of course you did it!”
“I was the only one you saw!” I corrected.
“So you’re telling me I can’t believe a video of that incident just because it doesn’t show the
entire car?! Just admit that it’s your fault!”
“My fault?!” I snapped. “Can’t you see from that perspective that I’m in the passenger seat?!”
Neru scoffed, still glaring at me. We stood like that for a while until Miku finally stepped into the
kitchen. We both turned to look at her.
“Neru,” she said, rubbing her eyes, “Teto’s right- she was in the passenger seat. You can blame
me for that whole incident.”
Neru scoffed, turning around. “Whatever.” She grabbed her phone and began to walk out of
the kitchen, leaving me and Miku together.
Miku was holding an empty bag of chips. She stuffed them into the trash can and left without a
word.
I continued to make my sandwich in peace. Once I finished making it, I went to the living room
to see Miku already sitting on the couch, turning on the TV.
I sat down with her, grabbing one of the blankets to cover myself with.Chapter three (still teto’s pov)
I don’t even remember feeling tired. I just fell asleep. I rubbed my eyes and turned to see Miku
with my sandwich, having eaten more than half of it.
I assumed I must’ve been out for a while.
Miku seemed completely unbothered. She was still eating my sandwich. I waited for a few
moments, wondering if she’d notice me. When she didn’t, I reached over and tapped her leg,
not wanting to sit up completely.
That was when Miku finally turned to look at me.
“You were asleep for a while,” she said, chuckling.
“What time even is it?” I said, yawning.
Miku grabbed her phone to check the time. “12:21.” She said. “You can go back to sleep if you
want.”
“What I want is my sandwich.” I said, a little more serious. After all, I didn’t go through all that
so I could just lose my sandwich to her like that. My stomach was still making the rumblies that
only the sandwich could satisfy.
Miku smiled. “C’mon. You basically gave it up to me when you passed out.”
Even more upset, I reached over, trying to take the sandwich from her. She took it even further
away from me.
“Miku! You ate most of it anyway! It’s my sandwich!”
Miku shook her head. “Most of it isn’t all of it. I’m gonna eat all of your sandwich.”
I reached for the sandwich again to try and grab it, and failed miserably. I sat up and tried
again. I came close, but Miku managed to put the plate on the table next to her while blocking
me from the sandwich. Now she had both of her arms to defend the sandwich.
We fought with each other for what seemed like hours. Every time I tried to push Miku out of
the way, she shoved me back. It was starting to become pointless. I began to realize I was
doing this for revenge, not because I actually wanted the sandwich.
But Neru walked in right before I could actually give up. Clearly, the noise we made was
bothering her.
“What are you two doing?!” She complained, “It’s 12:30!”
Miku turned to look at her, still holding me down so I couldn’t even look at my sandwich. Not
that I cared anymore, anyway.
“12:30 isn’t even that late, calm down.”
“God, Miku! I can’t sleep with you two fighting all night! Why can’t you see that?”
Miku’s grip on me loosened. I sat up and realized just how exhausted Neru looked. I almost felt
bad for her.
“We’re not even being that loud,” Miku claimed, “Plug in your headphones or something.”
“That’s what I’ve been doing, in case you couldn’t tell!” She tugged at the headphones around
her neck.
“How could we even be that loud?” Miku said. The next few words they exchanged spiraled
into a ton of angry arguing that I didn’t even bother to try and make out. In fact, I was back to
getting my revenge on Miku- I was going to get my sandwich and leave. And that’s what I did. I
walked right to my room without a problem. I sat in my bed and tried to sleep. Unlike Neru, I
could handle the noise.
Chapter four (Miku’s pov)
I finally managed to get the yellow one to leave me alone. Then I sat on the couch, about to get
my sandwich and unpause the TV, when I felt my hand touch nothing but the counter. I looked
over and realized stupid drill-hair took the sandwich!
I stepped off of the couch and walked all the way to her room and opened the door. There she
was, sleeping soundly.
I took a step closer into the room. She didn’t seem bothered at all. She just continued to sleep. The sandwich was on her desk, next to her computer. I still wanted it, so I picked it up. But the
next thing I knew, I was sitting by the desk and eating the sandwich.
I heard Neru stomping back to her room. Chuckling, I thought to myself that she must’ve
realized I was right the entire time, and she was just being irritable. Oh, quit nagging me, this!
Quit nagging me, that!
Then I saw Teto turning over to face me. Out of pure instinct, I put the sandwich exactly where I
found it and jumped from the chair, ready to run out of the room.
That’s when I accidentally busted my elbow against the door. It hurt so bad I had to stop and
hold my arm until the throbbing pain ebbed away.
Of course, the sound of the door made Teto actually wake up. She sat up immediately, rubbing
her eyes until she actually processes the whole situation.
“Miku… if you want the sandwich, take it.” She yawned. “I only took it because I was upset. It’s
not like I’m actually gonna eat it.”
Confused, I stepped a little closer to the desk. I guess my confusion made Teto even more
confused.
“Do you need something that’s not the sandwich?” Teto asked.
I shrugged. “No. What-“ I began to chuckle, “What could I want that’s not the sandwich?”
Teto frowned, crossing her arms. “Mmm… maybe you want to apologize?”
“You’re funny,” I said, picking up the sandwich. “I don’t have anything to apologize for.”
Teto frowned even more. “You stole my sandwich while I was asleep.” She corrected.
“You don’t even want it anyways!” I argued.
“You didn’t know that,” she said, continuing to frown, “you just took it anyways.”
I sighed. But then I began to realize Teto kind-of had a point after all. I did take the sandwich
without permission.
It took me a little to finally tell her; “I’m sorry, Teto.”
“It’s fine.” Teto said. It didn’t seem fine, though. She still looked like she was mad at me.
“Is there something else that’s going on?” I asked her.
Teto looked away. “It’s just… you’ve been rude to me and Neru for no reason all afternoon. You
took the keys from me when I wanted to go to the store, crashed the car and didn’t even
bother to help me tell those guys off, then you stole my sandwich, had a huge argument with
Neru when you could’ve just settled for being a little quieter for her to sleep better, and now
you don’t even wanna admit it. It’s unfair because we didn’t even do anything wrong.”
I began to feel a little guilty. After all, she was right. I sat next to her on the bed.
I tried to explain to her. “I’m sorry, Teto. I feel like crap ever since I got fired from work-“
Except, she didn’t seem to take it the way I wanted her to. In fact, it was quite the opposite. I
could see her fists clenching. I knew I had to stop at that point.
“You’re really gonna use your little apology to tell me you got fired from work?”
“Come on, I tried to wait until you were calmer because I didn’t want to argue with you. I’m
being considerate.”
Teto’s angry frown didn’t waver at all.
“What did you even get fired for? You work at McDonald’s, it doesn’t get a lot simpler than
that.”
I looked down, embarrassed. “I-I got into too many fights with the customers,” I looked up at
her, hoping she’d understand, “Oh, come on! I wasn’t about to make orders with seven
different modifications! If people are that picky, they can make the food themselves!”
Teto’s anger reached some sort of climax. She looked like she wanted to choke me to death.
“Dude,” she said, “where are you even gonna work now?!”
I tried not to upset her more. “Well, I don’t know any places that are hiring, so like, maybe I
could just stay here until we find a place?”
Teto sighed. “Fine.”
Relief washed over me. “Okay, well, I’ll just go-“
“Wait.” Teto demanded.
“But- but why not?” I asked, confused.“Take the plate.” She ordered.
I sighed and grabbed the plate. At least she didn’t want anything else from me. The plate was
definitely not a problem anymore.
“Hold on.” She called right before I could walk out of the room.
“What?” I said.
Teto sat silently for a few moments. I waited, beginning to get really nervous about what she
was going to ask me. “Uhhh- nevermind.” She finally said.
Relieved but also confused, I walked out of the room with the plate.
Chapter five (Teto’s pov) [this may or may not have been the point where i gave up and wrote
whatever unhinged thoughts came to mind]
It’s been a few days, and Miku finally got a job. At a literal Olive Garden.
I don’t know who these employers are or what their standards are, but I’m gonna keep my
mouth shut. Hopefully Miku does, too.
You know, somehow Neru has no idea about any of this. I don’t know if now’s a good time to
break the news to her. Miku thought quite the opposite.
“I work at Olive Garden now.” Miku told Neru proudly.
“What happened to your job at McDonald’s?” Neru asked. She was confused, and she had
every right to be.
Miku hesitated a little. “Oh, uhh, the people at McDonald’s weren’t paying me enough, so I quit
and got hired at Olive Garden!”
I sat and ate the extra breadsticks she brought from work. This Olive Garden probably had a
surplus of breadsticks. But I couldn’t know for sure. It was barely Miku’s first day. But still,
everyone loves Olive Garden breadsticks. One basket for free is like gold.
“Well, whatever makes you happy, Miku.” Neru got up and walked out of the kitchen. It was
just me and Miku now.
Miku looked over to Neru’s room. She looked over for a long time, almost as if she were…
examining it.
Then, with her face flushed, she turned to me, walked over to where I was sitting. Then she
leaned towards me and sighed.
“Look, Teto,” she whispered, “I don’t know if you realized or not, probably not. But, you see,
I…” she paused for a moment before finally saying it, “…Fine! I love you, Teto!”
I looked at her, totally confuzzled. I was going to say something, but she just kept talking.
“…I-I’ve loved you for God knows how long. I just- you’re so pretty, and smart, and kind, it-it’s
mesmerizing…” She looked away, her face completely flushed.
It took me a little bit to finally muster the courage to say, “I love you too, Miku. I really love you.”
