Gem almost flinches when the cold cotton ball wet with antiseptic comes into contact with the gash on her upper lip. She internally congratulates herself for keeping still, but there’s close to nothing she can hide from Pearl, her brain starts to chastise her only to immediately come to a screeching halt when an apologetic smile appears on the other woman’s lips-
Pearl has no right to look that good with a tweezer grasped in one hand, Gem’s chin in the other, and a pencil tucked behind her ear.

Summary
Pearl coughs, and petals float out of her mouth.
She stares at them, panic brewing in her chest. That… is not normal. Tilly walks over, sniffing them, and Pearl pushes her snout away. She kneels, gathering the petals with a gentleness that surprises her.
She goes to dump them off the edge, but can’t find it in herself to let them blow away in the light breeze. She tries to put them into her inventory, but they don’t disappear, remaining in her hands. Finally, she resigns herself to putting them in a chest. But instead of putting them in one of the chests she already has, she makes a new one, setting it down out of the way, tucked in a corner where the walls will be.
The petals aren’t natural, Pearl knows. No one coughs up flower petals. She doesn’t know why she has, but there’s no denying they came from her mouth. So until she figures out why it happened, she’s going to keep them.
She ignores the strange possessiveness that makes her hands twitch, and returns to building.

Grian bet Pearl she wasn’t brave enough to join GIGGS on a ghost hunting session, so of course she has to prove him wrong. When Gem and Pearl, best friends of 4 years, go on the same ghost hunting session together for the first time, absolutely everything is fine and normal and nothing happens definitely and they definitely haven’t been hopelessly pining for years. Pearl breathed out a sigh. As much as she hated to admit it, the plan was pretty foolproof. Just four weeks of occasional public appearances with someone she was with all the time anyway - she figured she could cope with that, for the sake of her own reputation. Her brain was still processing that Gem didn’t seem to think any worse of her after hearing what had happened. If anything, her eyes seemed to gleam with a new intensity. Perhaps that was why she agreed - she would later attempt to convince herself that there was no way she would have if she was in her right mind.
“Fine.” she breathed, tail sweeping nervously behind her. “What did you have in mind?”
