Work Text:
Chapter one (Neru’s pov)
So all my work was all in vain. Miku didn’t just not want me.
She hated me.
“I don’t want anything to do with you anymore,” she finally declared, walking out of the room.
Then Teto came in. I expected her to want nothing more than to crush my bones into dust.
But she didn’t.
In fact, I didn’t see any anger on her face. I saw sympathy.
Not that I cared at the moment, though. I wanted to crush her bones into dust for making me
basically ruin my chances with the girl I loved.
“Get out, Teto,” I warned her.
Teto didn’t budge. She leaned against the wall, shaking her head.
“Teto,” I repeated, “I don’t think you understand. Get out.”
She still didn’t budge.
So if she wasn’t gonna move, I would make her.
And just like that, I charged at her, ready to shove her out of the way. But she managed to stop
me and grab me by my shoulders.
“I’m pretty sure I know exactly what I’m doing,” she said.
I was still upset.
“You don’t,” I corrected.
“I do,” she repeated.
I tried to break away from her, but her grip was too strong. She turned and pinned me to the
wall.
At this point, I figured I was done for at this point. So I accepted the fact that my fate was
sealed.
“Neru,” Teto explained, “I feel like you’ve been going after the wrong person this entire time.”
I froze in shock. What was she saying?
She continued to explain. “Miku doesn’t care about you,” she told me, “She never even
bothered to look into that weird shift in your usual routine. She didn’t care until you hurt her.”
Then she paused for a little before continuing. “I did care. Even though it looked like anger, I
still showed that I cared about you and what you were doing.” Then she paused for a little
longer. “Even though I didn’t really realize it, I did it because I love you.”
I froze. What did she mean, ‘I love you.’
But I couldn’t help but feel warm when she finally admitted that. I couldn’t hold back a smile.
We stared at each other for a while.
A little longer.
And then we looked at each some more.
Then she slowly began to lean in.
And then I leaned in too.
But right before any action, we heard helicopters.
I froze. I forgot to tell Harry and Pedro to do this whole thing tomorrow, when I wasn’t at home.
But Teto didn’t care. And since I didn’t want her to know what was happening, I went along
with her.
At least we managed to enjoy our happy ending for a good minute or two before our entire
house was pulverized by literal bombs.
