It's Purim! Graggers, candy, and alcohol... what's not to love?
Well.

Chapter 1: Time-Blind

Chapter Text

Avi shot bolt upright, smacking Yoni in the chest with the back of his hand. "Fuck, it's almost Adar!"

Yoni batted his hand away, scowling. "Yes, congratulations on checking a calendar for the first time this week. Your point?" He turned back to the tv and turned up the volume, letting the sounds of Marvel Action Sequence Number Whatever wash over their apartment. "Don't tell me you haven't figured out a costume, you always have those figured out weeks in advance."

"Yeah, when I remember it," Avi corrected, standing up and beginning to pace. He counted off days on his fingers as he walked. "If I can finish the baking by Sunday... maybe get a costume by Wednesday... and then alterations..."

Rolling his eyes, Yoni paused the movie again. "Just buy a purple suit and go collecting," he said, "eventually someone will give you something to give someone else." Avi dismissed the idea with a wave of his hand, pulling out his phone.

"There's no point in dressing up if you're basic about it- wait, what's your costume?"

"Me?" Yoni shrugged. "I was going to wear the Phantom getup I had last year. Did you want to match?"

Avi shrugged. "Maybe," he said, unsure. "I think I have to dig around in my mother's costume bucket next week, and I can pull something together from there." He sent off a text, then turned the phone to Yoni. "I'm inviting Patton over on Sunday, by the way, with him helping we can get the hamantaschen done in no time."

Yoni pulled his face into a wounded expression, hand on his chest. "Without asking me? I would be more than happy to play hooky for you, Nachum."

"Don't pull that crap," Avi warned, "or I will murder you. He'll be coming over after you're done with work anyways, so you aren't missing anything."

"Fine."

"And no snippiness. He's been taking everything really well."

Yoni threw his hands up in mock-surrender. "I said fine! Bli neder, I will behave according to your specifications. Can we put this away until next week?"

Avi nodded, curling back up on the couch, and Yoni let the movie run.
